This is a Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver class I. All right, this is what the hitch looks like once installed on the Prius.Next we'll give you some measurements. They'll help you out in selecting some accessories such as a bicycle rack or a cargo carrier. From the top of the receiver opening down to the ground was about 11 and a quarter inches and from the center of the hitch pin hole to the end of the bumper was just over two inches. Now I'll go ahead and show you how the hitch is installed. We have to remove an under body panel on the driver side.
Towards the bumper there are a couple of plastic rivets that we have to remove. Take a screw driver and . loosen off the centers and pull them out. OK, on help pull it out you can use some needle-nosed pliers as well. Now we're going to remove some bolts with a 10 millimeter socket.
OK, and this is just a snap fitting. Go ahead and snap it and pull it out of our way. As an option you could cut this out and make room for the hitch. In this case we're going to leave the panel off. Next we'll go ahead and take down the tie-down bracket on the driver side.
We use a 14 millimeter socket for that. Now go to your passenger side and take off that tie-down bracket. Now we're about ready to put our hitch into place. Before we do that we'll go ahead and show you how the hardware works. We've got a metric bolt and a conical tooth washer. Now the teeth on the washer always face towards the hitch.
It would be the same fashion or combination on all four holes. Use the same holes as our tie-down bracket did on both sides. Then you'll want an extra set of hands to help hold it up and put into place. All right, we'll get one bolt started on each side then we'll go ahead and put the rest of our hardware in place. Now we'll use a seventeen millimeter socket to tighten down the bolts. Then torque the bolts down as specified in the instructions. Now your hitch is fully installed.Let's go ahead and take care of this -the piece of bumper cover goes to this right here but also the panel uses it as well. So, let's go ahead and re-install the plastic for that location and we're good to go. OK, with that, that'll finish it for our install part number c11468 from Curt on our 2005 Toyota Prius. .
