Video Transcript for Kelty Kush Sleeping Bag Review

Hi everyone, it's Evangeline. And today we're gonna be taking a look at our Kelty Kush sleeping bags right here at etrailer. So there's gonna be different sleeping bags for different types of adventures. So the point of this video is I want you to be able to make the best decision for your adventures. So this is gonna be the Kelty Kush and where it really shines is versatility. It only comes in a 30 degree rating sleeping bag, but you can do different things with this.

You can turn it into a pillow, a comforter, a blanket or obviously a sleeping bag. So one of the uses of your Kelty Kush sleeping is you can also turn it into a pillow. So this is my normal pillow and this is my Kelty Kush pillow. So this is the sleeping bag all tucked in. Look at how nice that looks.

Look, it even says "there's a nap for that." So it's not just a bag that goes over your sleeping bag. You have a little bit of a design to it too, but when you are ready to take this out, you have some ribbons at the end. So just pull those one and two and you now have access to your bag. So once you take that pillowcase part off, it just comes apart completely. You now have access to the full bag.

So this is, it says three in one. I see it's four in one, it's a pillow, it's also a comforter, it's a sleeping bag, and it can also be used for extra storage. So we are going to start from the bottom and then move towards the top of the bag. So first down here, look at how much space we have for our feet. So this is all apart.

You can see how you can even store items towards your feet. If you are in those colder areas, you can put your socks, your shoes in there, no problem. In the very corner we have a zipper. So this is gonna be a one-sided zipper. And when you open it that opens up the bottom, the sleeping bag. If your feet need ventilation and they need an air out, maybe they got too warm. You can easily give them access. You can open this zipper up all the way and that allows you to turn this sleeping bag into a rectangular bag. Now be careful, make sure it doesn't snag onto your tags or the sides of the bag. That's what happens with this being so fluffy. So before we move to the top, let's talk about our top zipper. So this is your more familiar zipper. It's double sided and allows you to open and close your bag from the top or from inside the bag Zipping up the very top. Notice how this is not a mummy style sleeping bag. It's just more of a rectangular bag. So if you do wanna protect yourself from let say bugs or insects, you're gonna have to think about possibly getting mosquito netting or just staying inside of your camper. And here towards the top of our bag, we have a little stash pocket. So it's not gonna be big enough for some of your larger phones. Oh, this one will fit right in there. That's nice to see. You can also put your keys or your wallet in here. This is very comfortable. So we do have have the cloud loft synthetic insulation. This is Kelty's type of insulation that focuses on being light and comfortable. So not as thick as their ThermaPro insulation, but still very, very nice. And you can see here, since this is rated for 30 degrees, you still have a good amount of cushion. You still might wanna invest though in a sleeping pad or a mattress underneath. If you don't wanna touch the cold hard ground. And when you want to, you can open this up all the way. Remember it opens up towards your feet and not towards your head. And then this flips out to become a full blanket or comforter. Now we're underneath the blanket and I have to say this is very warm and very cozy. So you can see how this covers our full mattress. If you have, let's say a full or a queen size bed or mattress, you can use this blanket for both you and whoever's with you. You can flip the blanket around. Whichever is more comfortable for you. If you're using this as a comforter, definitely have the design side facing out, as a blanket the size, this is gonna be 72 inches or six feet by six feet. So with the 75D polyester material for our shell as well as our pintuck detailing, you can see how this is both practical for two season camping and stylish. The Kelty Kush only comes as a 30 degree rated bag. So depending on your adventure, let's say it's really, really cold. You might want something that's a bit more insulated. So I did a little comparison of our different bags with different degree ratings. Let's take a look at that. So we have a bunch of different Kelty sleeping bags here with different degree ratings. So that's gonna be ranging from zero all the way to 50. So let's go over each of the different ratings and talk about what they're for and what kind of sleeping bag you would want for certain situations. This is the Kelty Rambler, perfect for summer seasons or if you're in a tropical climate or if you're in a low elevation area. Looking at the insulation, you can see it's very, very thin which means you're not too warm at night, but this is also more lightweight and more compact than your other sleeping eggs. And here we have the Kelty Kush and the Kelty Catena. So these are all rated for 30 degrees. So this is gonna be slightly cooler than your Kelty Rambler. This is good for what we call two season camping, which is usually spring or summer in certain areas. And this is a good in between sleeping bag. If you're not too sure if you're gonna be cold or not too sure if it's gonna be warm, you'd wanna go with the middle of the road, 30 degree sleeping bag. And these two here are 20 degrees sleeping bags with differences. So this one uses the cloud foam insulation. So this is the Kelty Mistral. And you can feel that the insulation for this is a lot lighter than the ThermaPro insulation that the Kelty Tuck uses. 20 degrees is what I would use during winter camping or cold camping just because, especially with the ThermaPro insulation. You wanna make sure that it can handle condensation. Even if you are breathing inside of the sleeping bag or there is some moisture in the sleeping bag, then make sure it doesn't gather too much, then you're not sopping wet when you wake up. And finally, we have our zero degree sleeping bag. This is really good for those really, really, really cold winter snowy nights. You'll wanna make sure that you can handle those low temperatures. They usually have the mummy style, because you wanna make sure there's no condensation gathering on the inside of your sleeping bag. And it goes out through your nose and your mouth. This is the Mistral. So it also uses the cloud loft insulation like the other Mistral sleeping bags. If you want a little extra insulation or extra temperature control, maybe take a look at the ones that use the ThermaPro insulation, but still zero degrees for those really cold nights. There are other sleeping bags out there that go even colder like negative 20 or negative 30, but those are not part of the Kelty line. So for those ratings, different sleeping bag brands sometimes use different ratings. There's comfort rating. There's lower limit rating. Comfort rating is usually like how comfortable would you be at this temperature So supposedly at 20 degrees, you'd be comfortable with a 20 degree sleeping bag. Other brands also have a difference between women's and regular sleeping bag ratings. So supposedly the women's sleeping bag is warmer than another sleeping bag of the same temperature. Now I tried both of our 20 degrees sleeping bags and I didn't really notice that big of a difference other than the ThermaPro installation being that much warmer than the Mistral insulation. So that's something else to consider. If you do feel like you need a little extra warmth check out the women's line of sleeping bags. So my personal thoughts about the Kelty Kush is that if you are camping with another person and you're thinking of having a sleeping bag, that also turns into a blanket, this might be a good option for you or maybe you already have your sleeping bags and you want an extra layer. So you want your options. You can use this as a pillow. You can use this as a blanket. You can also use this as bag. The versatility is great. What really shines though is how stylish it is. The other sleeping bags don't have this type of design. So you can even use this at home as a comforter on your own mattress, then pack it up when you're ready to go on an adventure. But comparing this with other sleeping bags, you may also be interested in the Kelty Catena because then you can connect two bags to create one big one. That could be an option for you too, but definitely check out all of our videos right here at etrailer. We go into depth about how they work. And that was a look right here at our Kelty Kush sleeping bag or pillow or blanket or comforter right here at etrailer. My name is Evangeline and I hope you enjoyed the journey..
