Speaker 1: Today, on our 2017 Chevrolet Equinox, we'll be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Rhino Rack Roof Rack System. This is going to consist of the Rhino Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars, part number: RRVA118B-2; the Rhino Rack 2500 Series Legs, part number: RRRLKVA; and the fit kit for our Equinox, part number: DK226. Our crossbars are also available in silver, part number: RRBA118S-2.The Rhino Rack Roof Rack System is a great solution for carrying your vehicle accessories on your roof, whether those are bike racks, ski and snowboard carriers, or cargo baskets. The aerodynamic shape of our bar as well as the weatherstrip on the inside our going to help to reduce wind, noise and drag. If we unlock our end cap and remove it, we can easily remove and cut down our weather strip and replace it with channel-mounted accessories. On our end cap, we do have a plastic lock core. We can remove that and place in a metal lock core, that's going to help prevent to prevent theft and tampering of part of your roof rack system as well as any channel-mounted accessories.
The end cap on our foot pack does have metal lock core, and that's going to prevent theft and tampering of your entire roof rack system. Underneath here you'll see our fit kit, this is going to be custom-cut to our vehicle and give us a nice secure fit. Any portion that touches our vehicle, the clamp or the pad, are going to have a rubber coating to prevent any scratches or abrasions. Our roof rack system has a 165 pound weight capacity, though you do want to double check your vehicle's owner's manual to make sure your roof can withstand that much weight. It also comes with a limited lifetime warranty, and is quick and easy to install. We'll show you how to do that now. Now, everything that you see on our table is what you will need for our installation.
The only thing we've provided ourselves is a flat tape measure. We're going to get two crossbars, one of which is already on our vehicle. We'll get our key to lock down our crossbar end caps, our tool to tighten everything down, end caps for our foot pack, end caps for our crossbar, we'll get four foot packs, four pads and four clamps from our fit kit. We'll start by removing the plastic portion of our foot pack. We're going to take the pad, we're going to fit it onto the bottom, making sure that the arrow on the pad faces towards the front of our vehicle and the arrow on the plastic portion faces away from the inside of our crossbar.Next, we'll remove our bolt here in the center. We'll take our clamp and place it over the top, and tighten our bolt back down.
Now, we want to make sure we tighten this down just enough so that our clamp stays on our foot pack. We're going to slide the silver nut into our channel. Then we can take our flat tape measure and measure out the distance on the inside. With that in place, we can take our included tool and tighten it down. Now, your kit will also come with these inserts. These can actually be placed in the channel.
They also have measurements on them. You can place them in the channel and fill in that extra gap, as well as the extra gap on the outside. That's going to help to reduce wind, noise and drag. Now, we can place on our crossbar end cap and lock it into place, and we're ready to load this up onto our vehicle. Now, we can take our crossbar and we'll set it on our roof. We want to set it so that our clamps fit around our door jamb. Now, we'll measure out our cross bar's spread from the center of our front foot pack to the center of our back. We're going to measure 70 centimeters. Again, we'll do the same thing to the other side.Tighten it down so that our clamp sits just up against our door frame, or our door jamb here. We want to do the same thing on the other side, then we'll go back and forth, tightening it down evenly. Now, we'll keep tightening our clamp down until the skinnier portion of our torque tool is completely straight, like we have here. Now, we can take our end cap for our foot pack, place it on and lock it into place. Now that we have those locked into place, we're ready to load up our gear and hit the road. That's going to be our completed look at the Rhino Rack Roof Rack System on our 2017 Chevrolet Equinox.

These heavy-duty, aluminum crossbars work with Rhino-Rack legs to create a sturdy roof rack. The square bars include built-in C-channels for mounting Rhino-Rack heavy-duty, contractor-grade accessories.I got the roof rack mounted anyways. Better pics to come when it's all finished!
Thanks to etrailer, I am ready to do some serious summer exploring with my 2013 Mazda 3! Rhino Racks, Malone top box, and Kuat bike rack!
The rack fit well and was easy to install. Seems to be made well. The problem is the amount of road noise. I never even put the basket on. It was so loud, it roared. I repositioned it several times but the noise was way too much and I finally just removed it. I spent a lot of money for the rack and the basket and now they are in storage. I wish it would have worked out better because I thought it looked really good.
love it, no problem and easy to install and take on and off, 47,000 miles on the highway and not a single issue. I even like the song the ladder hums to me driving down the interstate. This is my second Rhino and both have preformed to a high standard.
Perfect fit
Ordered a Rhino Rack for my 2014 GMC Sierra 2500HD Denali. Rack arrived in very good shape and all items were there. Installing at this time and see no problems ahead.
Good quality and locks are included. The plastic lock covers are flimsy but they will keep an honest person honest.
Things went well. Customer service was great.

I bough this roof rack to use with a cargo box and to carry a couple kayaks. It took me and a helper about 45 min to install and they went on without a problem. The instructions are very easy to read and follow and have good pictures to help with the location of where the rack goes. They are very sturdy and it's nice that they come with a keyed lock for security. My father claimed that this rhino rack installed in half the time his yakima rack took and this rack was similar in quality. I would recommend to anyone looking for a good roof rack.
These fit great for my 2010 chevy equinox, i was worried it would scratch the paint or the clamps would pinch my door frame too hard but after a year of having them installed im impressed with how well they've held up. I bought the rhino rack and yakima kayak stacker to haul 2 kayaks, over all it was a great choice.
When I first opened the box there were two screws and bolts that are critical to the fastnening of the feet assembly that were simply rolling around in the box. Had these components rolled out of the box, I would have been pretty well stuck. Also the "DK" measuring chart was NOT included with the directions. I would have been unable to properly place the rack on the roof without it. However, I called E-Trailer and explained my circumstance. Nicki quickly resolved this dillemma by e-mailing me the needed info. I then completed the assembly and mounted the Rhino rack on the car roof.
I am pleased with the rack; it assembled relatively easily and fits the car well. However, E=Trailer should contact the vendor and make Rhino Rack aware of the faults I noted.
Thanks E-trailer for the superior customer support. I will return for future purchases as needed.
Sincerely,
Bob Dames

It was pretty easy to install. We were a little worried at first glance because it had the metric system but it ended up not needing any conversions. Instructions were spot on and it fit like a glove. Took less than an hour to install. Would highly recommend.
This kit is easy to slap on and sturdy enough to balance my skis and snowboards. I recently used the Rhino Rack on a three hour drive to a ski resort and had no issues.
amazing used all last summer to hold luggage as the car was full of ppl and animals. Held on great super quiet didnt even really notice it was there and now that the luggage carrier is off you can't notice it at all. Love this site made it easy to find the kit I need for the yr make and model of my suv. Can't wait to get more gear from them!
This rack works perfectly on my Nissan Versa for carrying my two Perception Sound 9'6" kayaks. The Rhino-Racks look good to me. The kayaks can rest directly on the rubber pads on the rails, unlike the Yakama racks I had in the past that had bare pipe rails. Also, I expect I can buy parts to adapt this product to a different car without having to buy new towers. I am sorry there are not hooks or loops to attach bungees when carrying lumber. They are noisy in the wind, but less so when carrying the kayaks.
This is my second Rhino-Rack. They go on very easily and hold the bikes/kayaks and even an extension ladder very well....thanks for a great product
Two items I received surprised me when I unpacked the box were the rails because they were not black like I saw in the picture, and the rubber insert that I am having a hard time sliding in the rail. Should this rubber insert have come already installed in the rail or is there a top on how to put in with ease?
I installed this bar kit on my Chevy Equinox 2014 to carry my paddle board and camping stuff up on the roof. It looks great and feels solid. It’s a great product. Comes with instructions and exact measurements for you car, super helpful.
Fast service and was everything I expec ted

Great product everything fit perfectly. With the heavy duty bars almost all the hardware for anything you put on the rack is too short
Needed the Rhino-Rack parts and they were delivered when promised. Great service.
Once installed they seem sturdy and look good. One of the end caps was damaged in shipping but otherwise everything was good
