Video Transcript for Valterra Adjustable Rv Water Regulator Review

Speaker 1: Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Valterra Adjustable Water Regulator. Part number A01-1117VP.Campground water pressure can be too high. Don't take a chance on it being unregulated and it harming your system. The Valterra Adjustable Regulator will let you determine for yourself how much pressure is going into your system. Most regulators operate between 40 and 50 Psi, this one will allow you to operate lower than that and all the way up to your RV's maximum pressure. And you can find that in your RV's documentation. Now you want to be sure and not exceed your RV's maximum pressure.

That can damage your entire water system. The gauge is also nice because it's going to allow you to troubleshoot your system to let you know if the problem is in your city water pressure, or if it's in your RV pressure. It has a built-in screen. Regulators that don't have a screen can allow dirt and debris to get inside, which can cause your regulator to malfunction or give you irregular flow. It's a lead-free brass construction. It's easy to install.

We'll go ahead and show you that now.First what I'm going to do, is locate our city water connection on our RV. Then we can go ahead and connect the male end of our regulator to our RV. I'm going to position my regulator up so I can read it easily. And it's a good idea not to over tighten, just get it nice and snug. That way we don't have any leaks. Then we can take our hose end and connect it.

Nice thing about our regulator here, is that the end swivels, which makes connecting easy and we won't have to worry about kinking our hose. Now we can go ahead and turn on our water faucet. Now we don't have to worry about opening it up all the way. Our factory preset on our regulator is 45. Now we can take our flat head screwdriver and adjust our brass screw at the top of the regulator here. Now Valterra recommends not going over 60 Psi.

You will want to be sure and check with your RV's owner's manual to see how much pressure it can handle. Once you get it where you want it, you're all set. You're ready to test the inside faucets. As you can see we've got good flow here on the inside. Now you can adjust your brass screw to the left or right to fine-tune your water pressure. And that's gonna complete our look at the Valterra Adjustable Water Regulator. Part number A01-1117VP.

Excellent customer service, expected 3 day delivery - products delivered overnight!

The pressure regulator works well, unit was factory set @ 40 lbs. This is 3rd Valterra pressure regulator, the previous ones failed after 2 (long) camping seasons. Hopefully this unit has better longevity.

I bought this regulator last year and loved it but this spring the pressure gage does not work. It stays on zero but there is pressure. I have tried to adjust the pressure and get the gage to work but no luck. I am going to need to replace the gage or buy a simple replacement.

It was not exposed to freezing temps.

by:

It does work but the readings on the dial are not instant. It takes a few SMALL adjustments to get it to read properly over a couple days. One large adjustment does not work and can increase the pressure too high for the fittings in PEX tubing. 30 psi is my goal but the guage almost always reads about 20. It may be the design of this particular guage but for the money it's not accurate. There are cheaper guages and more expensive guages. It does work but not to my expectations.

I reached out to the manufacturer and if the gauge does not return to zero when the water source is turned off then it should be replaced. You will also want to make sure that you are adjusting and reading the gauge when the water is off. Since the regulator regulates stopped pressure, reading and adjusting the gauge while the water is on will give a false reading.

The guage dial replacement has been functioning as intended. The brass fittings are sound and the guage is easy to read and adjust. I tell everyone that the manufacturer stood by their product and replaced the faulty guage good business.

by:

Gauge seems accurate and I like it for the most part however it has developed moisture inside the glass over the last month and less easy to read from inside the RV. Not sure if this moisture will cause it to fail. So only 3 stars and if they replace it for me, I'll go to 5.

I had it for a year and 3 weeks and a seal went out inside or something and the gauge filled up with water and you could see it through the glass. I called ETrailer about it to try to get it replaced and they told me I was out of luck and the warranty was for 1 year. Yeah it did work for a year but the 60 bucks I paid for it was likely max retail and I thought I would be getting the best products from them and they would stand behind them. Ill shop around from now on.

The Valtera not only has adjustable pressure, but allows full water flow at a reduced pressure which none of the others I tried managed.

High pressure is a primary reason for RV water line fitting failure. I'm able to keep the pressure under 40 lbs, yet obtain full flow with this device

I'm quite satisfied with it's performance.

Thank u guys, you made everything easy. You kept us updated. When we had questions, there was always someone to help.

The Valterra adjustable water regulator is working out well. Thanks again etrailer we have been happy with everything we have ordered from u guys.

by:

I've used this for the 2023 camping season with good results.
Very easy to set the max pressure you want. I set mine for 45 psi and it stayed set at that pressure

by:

Works great... pressure gauge still working after a year... adjusts with ease to ensure pressure not too high for trailer plumbing.

by:

I was a little dissapointed as the needle has somehow stuck behind the stopper so i dont actually what tje oressure is anymore.

If it hasnt been a year after purchase yet, you may want to contact the manufacturer about the warranty that these come with.

The needle got cought on the wrong side of the stop pin somehow.

by:

Simple to adjust. Great replacement

by:

At first I didn't get the water flow I needed, only 1 gallon per minute. Called Etrailer and they directed me to Valterra. Valterra explained the water flow was not an issue with a good regulator. They were right. The problem was the regulator in the city water. After fixing city regulator my water doubled with my Valtera set at 45 psi. Plenty water now.

by:

Still working great. I hardly ever have to adjust the pressure but I like being able to when necessary.

by:

Etrailer is where I buy all my 5th needs. Great products, superb customer service, and a huge selection at fantastic prices.

by:

Have used before. Love the gauge and the adjustable feature.

Has done the job well for the last year !!

Mine froze up this winter when it got -28.. It has not worked since then.. ??

I have gotten in contact with the manufacturer and they have confirmed that the problem is that the gauge should not be exposed to freezing temperatures. You should be storing your regulator/gauge somewhere temperature protected during the winter. I am sorry that this information was not clear. I will be having this posted up on the site for future customers.

After spending way too much money on one after another Camco water pressure regulators that progressively lower the pressure and volume over a short 4 week period, we purchased this one from Valterra. So far, after 6 weeks of usage, it has been great. Good pressure and good water volume that stays consistent unlike the Camco units. The preset 45 psi is ideal so I have not had to adjust it.

Still working great!

by:

The regulator was shipped and received on time as promised. I believe it is worth the higher price because it obviously is well built. When I connected it to my water source, the gauge popped right-up to 45psi per factory specs. I then set the regulator to 60 psi according to my RV owners manual directions. It’s an excellent product, competitively priced, and I expect it to work for a long time due to its quality design.

by:

Nice compact unit . It fits well inside the service bay with room to connect the water service hose. Being adjustable was one of my requirements for a regulator. It is also downstream from the filter, so it should not get plugged with crud.
Works very well . I would recommend this unit.

The unit functions well, I like the gauge being able to see the pressure at a glance. Compact design helps it fit well in the service bay.

For the 8 years we have owned our 1986 Holiday Rambler Imperial Limited 38 foot long Class A coach, we have used the old style small brass cylindrical in-line water pressure regulator. We have suffered from low flow capability for all of that time. If I was in the shower and the wife turned on ANY water in the kitchen or elsewhere, the shower water flow was impacted severely by either scalding or freezing me. With the installation of the new Valtera A01-1117VP high-flow water pressure regulator, those problems have gone away. The new high-flow regulator can supply enough flow that I can't detect any decrease in shower water flow when any other water is turned on inside the coach now. I knew I had a water flow restriction some where in the water supply plumbing, but until I got the new A01-1117VP regulator, I didn't realize how serious the water flow problem was with the old style brass cylindrical regulator. I have dual filters on the water inlet to my coach, the regular large blue cylindrical charcoal filter in-line with the shore water hose, and then another smaller charcoal filter inside the coach, and I thought that the 2 filters in series may be causing a water restriction and low water flow. That was not the problem for my coach. The new high-flow adjustable water regulator solved my water flow problems, and now I have plenty of water anywhere inside my coach. The washing machine now fills much faster and that has cut down on the cycle time on doing a load of wash significantly. We used to wait for minutes for the washer to fill before it would start washing, but that is not the case now. It fills quickly and starts the wash cycle much faster than it did with the old small cylindrical brass water regulator. The auto-fill of the fresh water tank only takes minutes now. The old style brass cylindrical regulator does not have the flow capability of the new Valtera A01-1117VP. The nice water pressure gauge on the high-flow regulator lets you know exactly what water pressure is being applied to the plumbing in your coach, and the pressure adjustment feature of the high-flow regulator is nice to keep from over pressurizing and rupturing the coach plumbing. I am much happier with this new high-flow regulator, and I would certainly recommend it to anyone who has a camper, trailer or RV that uses shore water from a hose supply.

This little Gem has changed my life. No, Seriously!!! I live in my RV full time and travel on the weekends to various places of interest. No matter were we go the water pressure is always the same in the RV. An easy disconnect of this regulator from the water source and away we go. Screw it back on at the next stop and it's all the same no matter how much water pressure the place has. I haven't found a location that has less water pressure than what I run the regulator at so this has not been an issue so far. This brings great piece of mind considering the RV is a 1986 and has all the original plumbing still in tact. Great Product and very easy to manage and adjust!!!!! Great Job Again ETRAILER!!!

by:

Pressure gauge was permanently installed inside the utility compartment of my coach, for easy viewing. I no longer have to handle it every time I set up camp, or have to be concerned that an outside install might disappear at night.
The gauge is easy to read at a glance and can be adjusted to maintain a safe water pressure.

Dennis

Actually hadnt thought much about it. Since its install I just hook the hose and turn on the water. Working great, ready to check water pressure.

by:

Have not use item , however impressed with quality of regulator. Service from etrailer was great. I have ordered from them several times and as usual they came through with faster shipping.

Great product.solved low water problems

by:

I bought this adjustable water pressure valve a year ago and have been using it every time we attach our RV water line to campground hose bibs. It has worked very well at reducing high water pressure before going into the RV. I have attached mine right before our water filter. Thus we have eliminated the possibility of blowing water lines inside the RV due to excessive water pressure. Every RVer should have a pressure regulator attached to protect their water lines.

(March 2018). This is more of a review of the service rec'vd by etrailer.com rather than on the products themselves; I just rec'vd the shipment and have not had a chance to use them yet - its still winter here and the camper is still under snow. But, the service is exceptionally good and worth noting. Many retailers won't ship to Alaska for some unknown reasons. They don't know that Anchorage is the fourth largest cargo hub in the western hemisphere and generally, when we do order items we get them well before the shipper tells us we will. Why? Note mention of hub earlier. Dah. I order items in the winter months well ahead of summer so that I have them when I need them. The items sit in my garage patiently waiting for me to use them. etrailer.com has very good customer service. Far better than [those other online retailers]. I have placed orders with etrailer.com and if it can't be filled or they need additional info, they call me! What? Call me? You betcha. Excellent and very much appreciated. When I do rec'v them, the items are all well packed and after delivery, they send a follow up message. So, yes, I will continue to order from these folks.
