Dual Folding Arms with Anti-Sway Cradles

Swagman Titan 4-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Dual Folding Arms

The Swagman Titan has dual folding arms that provide excellent support for your bikes. They slope up to provide ground clearance for steep driveways and bumpy roads.

Swagman Titan 4-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Hitch Switch Lever

To fold the arms down, pull up on the cam lever at the top of the mast. This leaves a smaller footprint, so you can keep the rack on your vehicle to park in your garage. And when stored in this configuration, it doesn't take up as much space in your garage.

Swagman Titan 4-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Anti-Sway Cradles

Anti-sway cradles with rubber straps hold your bikes firmly in place. Each set of cradles has three straps that secure your bike along the top tube and one that secures the seat post or downtube. This multi-point contact helps keep your bikes from rocking back and forth, reducing bike-to-bike contact. The soft rubber cradles rotate around the rack's arms to accommodate bikes of different styles and shapes.

Easy Tilting for Cargo Area Access

Swagman Titan 4-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Tilting

The rack tilts down without your bikes loaded. This means you won't have to remove the whole rack to access your cargo area for grocery runs and other errands.

Swagman Titan 4-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Lower HitchSwitch Lever

To tilt the rack, pull up on the cam lever at the base of the rack and lower the mast. When you're ready to go, lift the mast up until it snaps into place with an audible click.

Threaded Hitch Pin and Hitch Adapter

Swagman Titan threaded hitch pin

A threaded hitch pin is included to help eliminate rattle in the hitch receiver during transport. To tighten the pin in your hitch, use a 5/8" wrench (not included). A clip is also included to keep the pin in place.

Swagman Titan 2-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Hitch Adapter

You can install the rack in a 1-1/4" hitch or in a 2" hitch. To use it in a 1-1/4" hitch, simply remove the adapter with the included Allen key.

Bike Security

Swagman Titan 2-Bike cable lockSwagman Titan 2-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Anti-Sway Cradles

A cable lock is included to secure your bikes to the rack. The integrated cable threads around your bikes' frames and inserts into the lock at the end of the right arm. The cable stores inside the mast when not in use.

Swagman Original threaded hitch pin

An anti-rattle hitch lock (sold separately) is available to secure the rack to your vehicle.

Available Adapter Bar

Swagman Bike Adapter Bar

If you have a women's bike, kid's bike, or any other bike without a straight, horizontal top tube, you will need an adapter bar (sold separately) to properly mount your bike. The bar fits between the seat post and handlebar stem post of your bike to create a top tube so your bike hangs level on the rack.

Very good product.
Happy to find a bike
rack that fits my 2005Rav4 that has a spare tire at the back of the car.
Very easy to install. Instructions for use of the key that was with the rack was missing, but I was able to find on etrailer's website.
Top of the rack was around one inch above the highest point of the spare tire. Touched a bit of the tire cover when I started loading the bikes, but requires a minor positioning, moving to one side by less than an inch to make sure it doesn't touch the spare tire cover.
Minimal sway on movement, but stable all the way from Massachusetts to Maine, and back.
Unfortunately still unable to open the car's back door even when tilted, but this should not be a problem with newer cars that have move clearance at the back. Just have to move the car seat forward to have access to the back of the car, but at least I can travel with all bikes (3).
Needs a "tube" for kids bikes.
Also needs a tool to tighten/ remove the screw into the hitch, but should not be a problem if one can access the back of the car by tilting the rack, and doesn't have to remove the rack all the time.
Not a perfect rack for my current car, but best match I could find, given the minimal clearance at the back because of the spare tire.
Should be able to use with a future car.

I've had this for about a year now using with 2 adult bikes and a kid bike, no problems at all - carries the weight and is stable. It's heavy when taking on/off the hitch socket, but that's fine - you want something sturdy to hold your bike investments stable on the highway. This does the trick. The cradles can be slid back and forth, or rotated infinitely to suit your needs, which I really appreciate. Overally, good value for the money, and I would recommend.

by:

After getting some amazing help from etrailer (thanks, Mike!), I decided on the Swagman Titan 4. I bought it to replace a Yakima Doubledown that I returned because I was very unhappy with it. The Titan is equal to or better than the Doubledown in just about every way (The Yak gets the nod for their trick anti-wobble mechanism). The tilt and fold mechanisms are easy to use and smooth. The rise in the shank is absolutely essential for a low sedan like mine (Subaru Legacy). The cradles can rotate to fit a wide variety of bike geometries.

The anti-wobble screw is fine, but I'm considering sacrificing some of that stability for the ease of mounting and removal of a standard pin (so I don't need a wrench to take the rack off the car).

The only thing that makes me just a little bit nervous is that the attachment points for the rubber straps flex a bit more than I'm used to. They work fine, the straps attach easily, and maybe they're designed to flex like that. But I do wonder how they'll hold up over time.

Overall, I could hardly be happier. Thanks Swagman for a great product and etrailer for outstanding customer service!

We had 2 adult bikes and 2 kids bikes loaded on the carrier. We took a trip to northern Wisconsin, over 800 miles total, and the rack worked perfectly. No damage to bikes or to car. Great product and very sturdy.

by:

I've had the rack for 1 year and it has been a great purchase. The price is reasonable for what you get. I use it for my road and mountain bikes. My bikes are expensive and so far I haven't had any issues with scratches or dings. This is why I got rid of my last rack. Great all-around rack.

by:

Easy to assemble the 3 screws that require installing. Don't really like the bolt instead of the pin securing the rack to the trailer hitch. Very satisfied other wise. Thank you for a well made product.

by:

This thing is nice! A little heavy, but, it's very roomy. I'm using it on a Toyota Tundra. This truck has a Class IV hitch, so the pin that is included wouldn't fit all the way through. I had to modify the hole in the rack a little to be able to use my regular locking hitch pin. Very nice rack indeed! Ohh!! I LOVE the straps. They are very secure.

by:

Just installed on my Subaru outback. Fit is great. I haves put any bikes on it yet but I am sure it will work fine. Only negative that I can think of is that it weighs a lot. I was thinking of attaching it only while using it; but decided to lock it to the hitch and leave it in the car as it will save time when going biking.

by:

Solid build quality! The rubber bike frame holders are a little too big for mountain bike frames - hard to wiggle the bike frame onto the holders. Otherwise, outstanding build quality! Tilt feature comes in super handy.

by:

Had to cancel about 9 months after ordering. They just look keep changing the expected delivery date without telling you. Customer service is polite but useless, and asking for a powerless manager to help is just a waste of time. I would avoid using this company, you have been warned.

by:

Very happy with my purchase, LOVE the bike rack and decision to use etrailer.com, they were extremely helpful with timely communication and smooth delivery.

by:

Good value for its price point. Very easy to install. It is a bit of a struggle to fit 4 bikes especially with women & kid frames but once you get the hang of it the bikes lock-in and feel secure despite a fair amount of bounce whilst driving

by:

Product arrived intact, & a reasonable amount of time. Chose it as it had included lock & folding capability

One of the few racks that will clear my Jeep's large rear mounted spare tire without using an extender. The other is the Allen which doesn't have the nice features the Swagman Titan has. Tips enough to allow partial opening of Jeep rear door, but enough to open the soft top rear window. The vertical portion of rack tips slightly toward vehicle (at least it does on mine). Would be better if the horizontal "S" shaped piece could be turned around to dip down, moving it further from the spare tire, but there are only holes drilled to mount it as shown. Can't attest to the durability yet, but it doesn't wobble even a tiny bit. Have to compliment everyone I spoke with at etrailer. very nice and extremely helpful.

by:

eTrailer.com had my new Swagman Titan bike rack delivered super fast. I received the right amout of email communication informing me of the status of my order, plus I could track my delivery directly from the eTrailer website. Awesome!

As for the hitch, I am so happy with it. I was tired of taking the front wheel off my bike and cramming it into the back of my small Corolla, it never really fit right, was always a struggle, and then I had no room for anything else in my car. Now, I just hang my bike onto the rack and strap it in, takes less than 60 seconds and I have all the extra room in my car and don't have to fold down the back seats.

The other feature I really like is that this bike rack has an integrated locking cable, once your bike is on the rack, you attach the locking cable so now your bike is locked onto the rack. Someone can't take your bike off the rack and walk away with it when you aren't looking.

I also got the Swagman bike rack locking pin, that attaches the bike rack to the car hitch.

I've used the bike rack twice so far and it makes my life so much easier. Solidly built bike rack that is well worth it.

Thank you eTrailer, you rock!

by:

Operates well as demonstrated in the excellent pictures and videos on website. Only caveat- if you have a ladies bike you need an adapter bar which is a separate purchase, and be careful to get the right size. Also if your bike has a seat with a rod that cushions from bumps, you may not be able to use an adapter and therefore cannot use a hanging rack!!! Lucky my bike shop had an adapter that could go lower on the frame. So I can use the rack but the bike is at an angle. And this morning not can be done for the outer hung bike not the inner one.

I worked with Melissa at the company to find the best Bike rack for my Audi and she was just great. She helped me find the perfect item and it has worked out just as she explained. I am very happpy with the sales help, the price, quality and with the outcome, just what I needed. Thanks much.

by:

My bike rack arrived right on time Wednesday afternoon, I put it on the car Thursday morning, loaded both our bikes and headed down to Rehoboth DE for a wedding, then took the ferry from Lewes DE to Cape May NJ, and stayed 3 more days in Avalon NJ and back home to Pennsylvania. Felt safe and secure the whole trip. Easy to put bikes on and off, love the security lock.

by:

relatively easy to attach especially to a Mustangit is a little heavy but its it's in a position that allows the trunk to be open without any modificationsI always thought of bike it was ridiculous on a Mustangbut I have to say it looks pretty goodit's relatively easy to get the bike on 2 is a little crowdedbut most the time I just carry one bikeit was also very helpful to have the experts tell me if this would fit beforehand

  • 4 Bike Rack to clear a 12 x 35 Spare Tire
The best rack we have available for your situation is the Swagman Titan 4 Bike, part # S63410. This is a hanging style bike rack that is compatible with both 1-1/4 and 2 inch hitches, and sits 14-1/2 inches away from the vehicle. Its foot is about 11-1/4 inches away from the vehicle, and this will still clear the spare, as it sits about in line with the hitch receiver. The Titan can carry up to 4 35 pound bikes and includes a bike lock for added security. You can add a threaded, locking...

In order to determine if the Yakima RidgeBack # Y02458 or any bike rack will clear the spare tire on your 2011 Jeep Wrangler you will need to take one measurement. Measure from the center of the hitch pin hole straight back to the distance required to clear the spare tire. If that distance is less than 12 inches, the rack will clear the spare. I have included a link to an FAQ article that will help with this measurement. The Swagman Titan, # S63410, measures 14-1/2 inches from the hitch...

However, an adapter bar like the Yakima Tube Top Bike Adapter Bar # Y02531 may be necessary to allow the bike to attach to the rack. This product will provide a horizontal top tube that will allow the bike to be carried on a hanging style rack in a level manner. The hitch and bike rack manufacturers all agree that bike racks used in a Class I hitch like the Curt # C11484 should not carry any more than two bicycles (even kid's bikes) even if the rack used has a 4 bike capacity and for good reason. Weight is part of the reason, but leverage is also a huge consideration.
