Video Transcript for Reese Fifth Wheel Installation Kit - Universal - RP30035-426 Review

Speaker 1: Today, we're going to take a look at the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for fifth-wheel trailer hitches on the Ford F-150 trucks. Now this part is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2004 to 2014 Ford F-150 trucks, all bed sizes, and on a custom fit part, I always like to recommend for you to go to our website, use our fit guide, put in your year and model of vehicle, and it will show you if this will work for your application. Now these 10-bolt base rails are what will sit in your truck bed. They do provide the necessarily attachment points for fifth-wheel trailer hitches. The semi-custom brackets right here is what will mount beneath your truck bed. They provide the attachment points for these fifth-wheel rails.

Now these mounting brackets are specifically designed to fit your Ford F-150. Now the base rails themselves, they are compatible with fifth-wheel hitches by Kirk Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Husky, Reese, and Valley brands and most standard fifth-wheel hitches. They will not fit the Reese Elite Series or Valley UBS hitches. All these parts you can see are a sturdy steel construction. They have a nice black, powder coat finish to them to help resist corrosion. This part will include everything shown here all on the table.

The two 10-bolt base rails, the universal brackets, the semi-custom brackets, all the hardware needed for all those brackets, and a nice set of detailed instructions on how to install everything, but that should do it for the review on the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for fifth-wheel trailer hitches on the Ford F-150 trucks.

  • Can Ford F-150 with 5-1/2 ft Bed Tow Trailer with Locked Out Sidewinder Pin Box
Since your truck has a 5-1/2 foot bed you would not be able to lock out your Sidewinder and use it like a standard pin box as the nose of the trailer would hit the cab of the truck around corners. You really need the additional turning clearance that the Sidewinder provides. It's possible you are using the wrong wedge with your current hitch and that's why it's hard to connect to your trailer. If you let me know what hitch you have I can verify for you the correct wedge. The Superglide...

  • Fifth Wheel Base Rail Installation Kit Recommendations For 2012 Ford F-150 With 6-1/2 Ft Bed
If your RBW Lil Rocker Fifth Wheel can fit in standard base rails, I recommend the Custom Installation Kit, part # RP50081-58. This kit cuts installation time in half when compared with universal kits. If you prefer a less expensive installation kit with rails you can check out part # RP30035-426. I have attached links to installation videos for these kits you can check out.

  • Recommend Base Rails for a PullRite Model 2700 5th Wheel Hitch on a 2013 Ford F-150 Truck
From what I found the PullRite SuperGlide 2700 is one of the models that fits industry standard above the bed rails. Semi-custom installation kit # RP30035-426 does come with industry standard rails so it will fit the hitch and your 2013 Ford F-150 with 5-1/2 foot bed. You could also use the Reese Quick-Install Base Rails, # RP50081-58, on your 2013 Ford F-150. The Quick-Install rails will reduce installation time due to the reduced amount of frame drilling that is required during installation.

  • Can Convert-A-Ball Adapter # CAB-C5GX1416 Be Used to Tow Gooseneck with 2010 F150 with 5.5 ft Bed
Due to the short length of your truck box, Convert-A-Ball does not recommend using the Cushioned 5th Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter part # CAB-C5GX1216. The manufacturer does not recommend this item for use in truck beds shorter than 6 feet in length. The problem with towing a fifth wheel with a short bed pickup is the clearance between the fifth wheel and the rear of the truck cab. There is a danger of the trailer loft striking the rear of the truck cab during turns. Your best bet would...

  • Can I Tow a 5th Wheel Trailer with a 2002 Ford F-150 with a 5-1/2 Foot Bed
I'll start by saying that we do not recommend that you install a fifth wheel hitch on a 2002 Ford F-150 with the 5-1/2 foot bed. You would have to use a Sidewinder pin box with a standard hitch, which moves the pivot point back 22 inches toward the tailgate; and even with the Sidewinder installed on your vehicle you will not get enough clearance between the truck cab and your fifth wheel when making a 90 degree turn. We recommend at least 4 inches of clearance and with the Sidewinder it...

As long as you are using either universal or semi custom frame brackets on your 2012 Ford F-150 such as the B&W Semi-Custom 5th Wheel Installation Kit part # BWRVR3201-00 or the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit part # RP30035-426 then yes, the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs part # F2542 will work well for you. You might also be interested in purchasing a Reese Custom Installation Kit # RP50081-58, this kit will install in about half the time as the universal kit and will minimize drilling on your 2009 Ford F-150. • 5th Wheel Rail kit Recommendation for 2010 Ford F150 with 5.5 ft box and Firestone Air Bags
As long as the Firestone System you have on your 2010 Ford F150 with a short bed is the part # F2542 then I have a solution for installing a fifth wheel hitch. You will want to use a universal fifth wheel installation kit like part # RP30035-426 as these kits are the only ones that are compatible with a # F2542 being installed as well. So the Reese Fifth Wheel Installation kit part # RP50081-58 that you referenced would not work. Since you have a 5-1/2 foot bed you would need a stationary...

If you also need the four black under-bed brackets then instead you can use kit # RP30439. If you need a pin kit to secure your hitch to your base rails you can use # 6014. • 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Install Kit that Wont Interfere w/ Air Bags on 2005 Ford F-150 Super Crew
Because of where the brackets for most air bag kits install on your 2005 Ford F-150 King Ranch Super Crew you will need to use a semi-custom installation kit # RP30035-426. This kit has 4 brackets, 2 for each side, that take up less space than 2 brackets in custom installation kits. Take a look at the picture I have provided that shows the bracket locations and compare them to the air bag brackets on your truck to determine fit. This is where the back edge of the rear rail will be. Once it is in place you will use the hitch to position the front rail. If you are using installation kit # RP56006-53 then the measurement is 26-3/16 from the rear edge of the truck bed. If you are using Reese installation kit # RP50081-58, Curt installation...

  • 5th Wheel Base Rail Installation Kit for a 2005 Ford F-150 with a 5-1/2 Bed
Out of the base rail kits that we have for your 2005 Ford F-150 I recommend going with the semi-custom install kit # RP30035-426 or the custom install kit # RP50081-58. Since they are fairly similar in price the custom option is the better way to go since it is easier to install but it will not fit with a Flareside or Stepside bed. As long as your Hijacker uses the industry standard mounting points it will fit your pickup. We recommend using base rails that match the manufacturer of the...

  • Can an 8 Foot Wide 5th Wheel Trailer be Towed with a 2005 Ford F-150 with 5-1/2 Foot Bed
First, regarding the position of the hitch relative to the rear axle, it should NOT be 1 inch behind the rear axle. The centerline of the hitch should be either centered over the rear axle or slightly in front of it. Behind the axle the capacity diminishes and the weight of the trailer can cause the front of the truck angle up slightly affecting steering, braking, and visibility. If the hitch is centered over the rear axle and you have 30 inches now from the center of the axle to the...

  • Difference Between Fifth Wheel Installation Kits For 2013 Ford F-150 With 8 Foot Truck Bed
There are a couple differences between the installation kits you mentioned for your 2013 F-150. The # RP30035-426 kit is a semi-custom installation kit that requires drilling into the truck frame. This is a more labor intensive installation and it takes quite a while longer to install the base rails. Installation of the # RP50081-58 kit is much easier and requires much less drilling as it uses the holes inthe truck frame to install the brackets. The installation of the # RP56006-53...

Both of the fifth wheel installation kits you referenced, part # C16300-204 and part # RP30035-426 are semi-custom installation kits and require drilling into the frame on your 2010 F-150. These are very similar in installation and both will work with fifth wheel hitches that fit industry-standard above bed rails. In my opinion I would go for the custom installation kit. These cut the installation time in half and use holes that exist in the frame and require no drilling. When installing...

From what I found, your Shasta M235-RB is 24 feet long, 7 foot 9 inches wide, has tandem axles and is 4,955 lbs but without the year that will be just a pretty close estimate. It is enough information to know that it is a very lightweight trailer and with your 2007 Ford F-150 with 6.5 foot bed, we can make sure your sliding hitch recommendation will work without going too overboard because you don't need a high capacity hitch.
