Video Transcript for Reese Fifth Wheel Installation Kit RP50081 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at the Reese Quick Install Custom Bracket Kit for Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitches. Now, this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2004-2014 Ford F150 trucks, all bed sizes. And on a custom fit part I always like to recommend for you to go to our website, use our fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle, and it'll show you if this part will work for your application. Now, these are custom installation brackets that will mount beneath your truck bed. They provide the attachment points right here, for fifth wheel rails. These are vehicle-specific brackets.

They're designed to mount to existing holes in your vehicle's frame, so that will help minimize drilling and measuring, cut your installation time in half when compared with the universal bracket systems. Now, the base rails that attach to these, that'll sit in the truck bed, they allow the installation of the fifth wheel trailer hitch. We do sell those separately. It's part number RP58058. And just to show you, I happened to pull one of those. Here's one of the rails.

They come as a set of two. But here's what the rails would look like that attach to these brackets. And then, these rails allow the fifth wheel to drop into your truck bed. Now, in this part, the kit will include the custom bracket shown here. All the mounting hardware, and even a nice set of detailed instructions that describe how to install everything. You'll notice the finish on these is a black powder coat finish.

Helps resist corrosion. But that should do it for the review on the Reese Quick Install Custom Bracket Kit for Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitches.

The costom bracket kit is of heavy steel, powder coated for protection, from your video it is going to be a lot easier to install and save time, alot less drilling and mounting of components, I am very satisfied with this product and cannot wait to install it on my 2013 Ford f150,will be pulling a 25 foot 5th wheel camper, thanks trailer for a great product

It made it very Easy to install my fifth wheel in my truck ..

It was best Purchase I made for get Fifth wheel hitch on my Truck. Handle loaded very good , thanks Etrailer

by:

My 5th Wheel Rails came with Universal "L" brackets but these brackets seem much stronger and also look good on the truck.
The main reason I purchased these was because it uses existing holes in the truck frame to mount. I didn't want to make holes that may not line up. These worked perfect for my 2006 Ford F-150.
One advice I can give, buy some "ratcheting" open end wrenches and attaching the rails to these brackets becomes much better since there isn't enough room for a socket between the frame.

  • Reese 5th Wheel Under Bed Brackets Only for a 2013 Ford F-150
We do not recommend mixing under bed brackets with above the bed rails from different manufacturers because they are not tested together and there could be some compatibility issues, though not likely. Since you already have the Reese rails I would stick with the Reese brackets as well, # RP50081. These brackets come with the hardware to attach them to the truck frame but you will need to add hardware kit # RP58430 to attach the rails to the brackets. The old hardware, if you still have...

  • Troubleshooting 5th Wheel Turning Clearance with 2014 Ford F-150 with 5-1/2 Foot Bed
For your 2014 Ford F-150 Super Cab with 5.5 foot bed, as Reese stated you should be good for your turning clearance with the 22 inch offset of the Revolution pin box (Factory version of Reese Sidewinder). I haven't heard of turning being reduced to under 40 degrees before, so it is possible the dealer didn't install the rails in the correct location. Most dealers use the universal installation kits like # RP30035 which can allow them to measure incorrectly. I've attached the installation...

  • Compatibility of Robin 5th Wheel Bed Rails With Reese 5th Wheel Hitch Frame Mounting Brackets
It looks like what you show are industry standard 5th wheel bed rails, you can confirm this be checking the front to back and side to side spacing of the hitch mounting slots and compare them to the provided photo. If they're industry standard rails, they should be fit-compatible with the Reese # RP50081 frame brackets. However, it's NOT recommended to mix frame brackets with bed rails from a different manufacturer. The brackets and rails are tested for weight rating together. When you...

  • Can 5th Wheel Install Brackets and Rails from a GMC Fit on a 2011 Ford F-150 with a 5-1/2 Foot Bed
First of all the rails will likely work for you. Although it could depend on if you need new brackets or not. We recommend combining rails and brackets from the same manufacturer so you'll want to use brackets that are the same brand as the rails. For example, if he has Reese rails, part # RP58058, then you want a Reese bracket kit. If he currently has a universal bracket kit, like our part # RP30439, then they will work with your truck. This kit works with virtually any truck however...

For just the fifth wheel rail brackets that are a confirmed fit for your 2011 Ford F-150 5-1/2 foot bed you'd want the part # RP50081 which is a confirmed fit and will work well. For new hardware to attach the brackets to the rails you have already all you'd need is the # 58164.

  • Custom Fifth Wheel Hitch Bracket Kit for 2013 Ford F-150 with 5-1/2 Foot Bed
The custom brackets for your 2103 Ford F-150 with the 5-1/2 foot bed are # RP50081. They're confirmed to fit your truck and will work with industry standard base rails. The choice to go with the custom kit is a good one because it'll reduce the amount of drilling and time for install. I've linked an install video for you.

  • Custom Brackets and Hardware Needed to Mount Reese Fifth Wheel in 2004 Ford F-150
To mount the Reese fifth wheel hitch and rails in your 2004 Ford F-150, you can use the Reese Quick-Install Custom Bracket Kit, # RP50081. Using custom brackets will nearly cut your installation time in half compared to universal brackets. You will also want to replace the hardware that attaches the base rails to the frame mounted brackets. For this you can use Replacement Hardware Kit for Fifth Wheel Base Rails, # RP58430.

  • Which 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Installation Brackets Fit a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 with 8 Foot Bed
While the Reese rails and the Curt Brackets, # C16420, may be compatible, it is not recommended to mix manufacturers for 5th wheel trailer hitch installation components as there is no way to accurately determine the capacity of the system. If you already have Reese rails, you should use the Reese brackets. If your 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 long bed has overload springs, you would need Reese Mounting Bracket Kit, # RP58186, and Reese Universal Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches (No...

For a 5th wheel rail under-bed bracket installation kit that does not include the base rails that you already have you can use kit # RP50081. For a hardware kit to mount the base rails to the brackets you can use kit # RP58430. • Fifth Wheel Bracket Kit Recommendation for a 2010 Ford F-150
Are they Reese fifth wheel rails? If so then I would recommend the install bracket kit part # RP50081 as this is a custom install kit designed to fit your 2010 Ford F-150. You would also need the hardware kit that attaches the rails to the brackets as that does not come with the bracket kit and what you may have cannot be used since the hardware is one-time-use. For that you would need the part # RP58430. If the rails you have are a different brand email me back and I will help you find...

  • 5th Wheel Installation Kit Brackets Only for a 2010 Ford F-150 with 5-1/2 Foot Bed
First, for custom brackets, # RP50081 would be the best choice. The other brackets, # RP58426, are supplements to the universal installation kit so I do not recommend using them. Since your truck has the very short 5-1/2 foot bed you will need to either use a fixed 5th wheel hitch or a slider left in the towing position at all times and a Sidewinder pin box. A regular slider hitch will not be able to travel enough to allow you to make tight turns without hitting the truck cab and trailer...

  • Can Old Base Rails Be Re-Used On a 2013 Ford F-150
The installation of a set of base rails will be dependent on the exact kit you are using, the frame brackets in particular so I would need this info in order to assist. That said, the older Ford trucks used universal install kits which required you to drill into the frame whereas the new Ford trucks have custom fit kits which install using pre-drilled holes. I do not recommend using the universal install kits nor is this always an option but I do still have an option for you that won't...

In terms of Reese rail products, there are 2 possible options for brackets and rails. First is the semi-custom install kit # RP30035-426. There is a way to tow a fifth wheel trailer with a truck that has a 5-1/2 foot short bed like your 2016 Chevy Silverado 1500 model but not with a SuperGlide hitch as it would not slide back far enough. What you'll have to use is a fixed fifth wheel hitch setup with a Sidewinder pin box as this is only way to get the amount of turning clearance required.
