Used it a few times and it’s worked great! Plenty of cover with 8x8 . I think it’s a two person setup for this model. Putting it on and taking it off the truck is easy . Wish they made Yakima side walls and bug net for it.
Fast service and the awning works great. We use it all the time!
Yakima Slim Shady 8x8 Awning is an excellent addition to my Yakima MegaWarrior + Extension rack & solar power enabled off-grid rig!!!! Yakima/etrailer box was severely damaged in cross-country delivery but the awning was so well protected it suffered only scuffing on the cover. Installation on a rack this high requires 2 ladders & assistance but slow & steady was very successful. I can't wait to set up camp & sit in the shade enjoying cool refreshments from my solar powered refrigerator.
So happy with this awning. Easy on and easy off. Super secure and no rattle while driving. Provides great shade.
As advertised, high quality product, super-easy installation with very clear instructions, this awning is a great addition to the rig I'm building. The 8' can be a bit challenging to deploy with one person but doable and it's totally worth the extra shade space especially in the AZ sun. etrailer is awesome as usual, easy ordering, great communications throughout.
1 yr later, so far so good. A bit tough to setup on your own. Well constructed. If you can fit it, 8ft is the way to go for multiple people. I like how low I can make one end to create nice angled shelter against wind at night for my equipment.

Love that it mounts to my roof crossbars and it is out of the way so I can use my crossbars for other gear. Love the size but a little difficult for me to set up; take down is easier by myself. Will need leg tie-downs or weights. As an older female, it is pretty heavy to lift above my head and mount on the crossbars myself but it can be done. Took it on my almost 4,000 mile trip this summer, didn’t end up using it but was glad to have it just in case. It is nice to use in conjunction with my camping trailer awning, too. Great product for the price.
I haven’t had a chance to use it yet but what I like is that the mounting brackets come with inserts that work on Yakima round bars, I have searched with no luck to find something
that fits my round bars and these are specifically made to fit round bars as well as all others.
I’m a Yakima user for many years, this seems to be on par with everything else they make. Which is top notch. It was easy to install and easy to use. Might need two sets of hands on a windy day. But so far I love it.
Easy to install, just had to find a good mounting spot. Yakima always makes quality products as this one is well done. Suuuuper fast shipping and customer support is spot on! Couldn't find this particular awning anywhere else but here! Thanks again!!

Still love this awning. Works just as well as it did on day 1. No rattle, easy on, easy off. Easy to set up and take down. Great product from Yakima.
