Video Transcript for Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack Fat Tire Straps Review

Hey everyone, it's Evangeline, and today we're taking a look at the Fat Bike Tire Straps for your Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack right here at etrailer. This sits on top of the ramp even more so than the thinner tires. We're here with a four inch tire. We can't even get close to that lever so this is a no-go. And that's where these Fat Bike Straps can come in handy. So what you're gonna need here is, you do have two straps included, so enough for one bike, but you are gonna have to use a three millimeter allen key, as well as an eight millimeter wrench.

So get that wrench in place and then loosen that bolt. Put your new strap on the bolt and then tighten it back down. And once you have your strap fully installed, you can see how it now secures your wider tires. And just like that, you're able to replace the straps on your Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack. If you just need to replace the factory straps with the same size, we have those as well.

If you want the Fat Bike Straps, perfectly fine too. We do have on our product page different tire sizes where we recommend replacing them. Sometimes you have 3.5s, but you also have to 29s, and then that's when you need the larger straps. Or you have smaller tires, but they're also fatter. So as long as you have the right tools, it's an easy job..

The longer straps made a world of difference in setting up the bikes by myself. That you for your help. I took them for a ride over a bumpy road and they stayed solid as a rock

by:

Thank you E trailer for the fast shipping and easy transaction. Yakima, thanks for not just putting the longer straps on from the factory. Will definitely look elsewhere next time I am in the market.

by:

These straps are every bit as strong as the original smaller straps. Kind of wish Yakima would just through them in with the original purchase. Highly recommended!

by:

The fat straps we ordered solved our problem perfectly. We have an electric fat tire bike that did not fit on our bike rack because the straps were too small. We ordered fat straps from etrailer and all is well! etrailer was great to work with and very responsive when we emailed with questions.

by:

Worked perfectly! The instructional video on the website made installation easy.

These straps were exactly what we needed to secure our Lectric bicycles to the Yakima bike rack.

I am sorry to hear that these do not fit your application. I have sent this over to our customer service department for them to assist you in getting the correct ones.

Excellent communication skills. Very reliable outfit.

Excellent service thank you

by:

The straps are great. Lead time was excessive, but that is Yakima's problem.

  • Can I Use the Yakima OnRamp with my Aventon Aventure E-Bikes
When it comes to your Aventon Aventure step-through bikes, the Yakima OnRamp # Y36FR has a 66-lbs per bike capacity but you will need to add the Fat Tire Strap # Y23FR to allow the OnRamp to be compatible with your 26 x 4" tires. It's not that you can't install a hitch like the Curt # C13146 on your 2016 Acura MDX, but because you've got the 19" wheels the spare tire that is stored under the vehicle cannot be re-installed. You could use it, but you'd need to store the spare inside the...

  • How to Mount Bike With 4" Tires on Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack
You don't actually need a new wheel tray to mount your bike with 4" wide tires to the Yakima OnRamp # Y36FR. All that is required is the Fat Tire Straps for Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack # Y23FR. These will allow you to secure a bike with tire sizes up to 26 x 4.5", 27.5" x 4.5" and 29 x 3.25" so your 4" tires won't be a problem.

  • What Bike Rack do You Recommend for My 60-Pound E-Bike on My 2013 Ford Focus?
I have a great solution for you for a bike rack with a ramp. Unfortunately, Saris does not make a ramp for the Saris MTY Bike Rack SA4031. We also do not have a bike rack that has a ramp for a single bike. With that being said, we do have a 2-bike option that comes with a ramp. For that route, I recommend the Yakima OnRamp # Y96FR (for 1-1/4" hitches) or the # Y36FR (for 2-inch hitches). The great thing about the OnRamp in addition to the included ramp is that you will not have to purchase...

  • 2018 Ford Escape Bike Rack and Hitch Recommendation for 70 lb e-Bike
For your application I recommend going with the Yakima OnRamp which is compatible with a Class II 1-1/4" hitch receiver as part # Y96FR or a 2" hitch receiver as part # Y36FR. I really like the OnRamp because it comes with a storable ramp for easy loading/unloading and then you also have a clamping system for the frame that easily adjusts to accommodate a wide variety of frame styles. Please note you will need the Fat Tire Straps # Y23FR as well to fit the fat tires on your e-Bike. If...

  • What Hitch Bike Rack Do You Recommend for My 55-Pound Electric Bike with Fenders?
Since it already looks like you have a 2-inch hitch installed on your Toyota 4Runner (thanks for the photo!). As far as finding an economical rack that is lightweight and will be able to carry your 55-pound Townie Go! 5i Step-Thru Electric bike with fenders, your best bet is the Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches # Y36FR. The Yakima OnRamp weights only 39.5 pounds and it will allow you to simply roll up your 55-pound bike onto the platform to attach it to your vehicle....

  • How Can I Carry My Rad Power Fat Tire E-bike On My Existing Hitch Bike Rack
We can address the strap issue. Yakima does offer the Fat Tire Straps for Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack - Qty 2, part # Y23FR, if the standard straps are not long enough. However, you are correct in your assessment of the Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack. It should be able to hold tires wider than 3,25" and I am not sure why that was not addressed. If you are not comfortable with how your tires sit in the cradles of the Yakima OnRamp, I do have another option. I recommend going with the Thule EasyFold...

  • What E-Bike Bike Carrier w/Ramp Do You Recommend for My 2021 Kia Soul with a 1-1/4 Hitch?
For carrying two electric bikes on your 2021 Kia Soul with a 1-1/4" class II hitch installed, I recommend the Yakima OnRamp # Y96FR. Apart from the integrated ramp, the OnRamp includes independently adjusting cradles that will fit virtually almost all frame styles. This eliminates the need of a bike frame adapter bike like the Swagman Deluxe Bike Frame Adapter Bar # 64005. Also, the OnRamp comes with a cable lock that protects the bikes while on the rack. I have a bike rack that will work for you, but the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 2 Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" Hitches # SH12G will not work for your Himiway fat bike according to the information you provided. This bike rack can fit up to 3" wide tires, which will not fit your bike's 4" wide tires. Also, this bike rack only has a weight capacity of 40lbs per bike, which is likely less than the weight of your Himiway electric fat bike. As long as you have a 2 inch hitch installed on your 2004 Honda CR-V like the Curt # 13535 yes the Yakima OnRamp part # Y36FR would fit it and work great. This would easily clear the rear spare of the vehicle.

  • Recommended Bike Rack for Electric Bikes with Fat Tires on 2015 Nissan Murano
I recommend using the Yakima On-Ramp Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # Y36FR, which can carry bikes up to 66-lbs each and has a built in ramp to make loading the bikes a breeze. This rack fits in 2" hitch receivers like the one on your 2015 Nissan Murano. To accommodate your 4" wide tires you'll also need the Fat Tire Straps for Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack # Y23FR and this rack also comes with locks for the rack and the bikes, so everything will always be secured....

For your Boda Boda bike and your Surly Ogre with 49.1 and 48 inch wheelbases, I recommend the Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # Y36FR. Not only is the OnRamp compatible with your bikes' wheelbases, but it also comes with an integrated ramp. Also, since the rack comes with independently-adjusting cradles, you will not need a bike frame adapter bar for your Boda Boda. These clamps also avoid any fenders. • Recommended 2 Bike Carrier For Electric Fat Bikes That Weigh 65lbs
I recommend looking into the Saris Freedom 2 Bike Platform Rack # SA4412B-FB. This is a 2 bike carrier which is specifically designed to transport electric fat bikes; it can also hold regular bikes without an issue. It can hold up to 5" wide tires which should be more than enough for any fat bike. For a bike rack that is rated for travel trailers and with a weight rating for heavier ebikes, I suggest the Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes, # Y36FR. If you want a hitch with an easier installation, I recommend Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13206. I do have a solution for you, but while we do have 4-bike racks that work with fat tire bikes, none of them are able to carry 4 bikes that weigh in at 65 - 70 lbs each like what you're talking about. The closest we have is something like the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack for 4 Bikes # HR1400Z which only goes up to 50 lbs per bike.
