Today were going to review part number Y02099. This is the Yakima Universal Fork Adapter for 15 millimeter thru-axle forks. This will adapt your bike that has the 15 millimeter thru-axle fork to any of the Yakima fork-mounted bike carriers. For demonstration purposes, I pulled a Yakima Fork Lift bike carrier right here. Its part number Y02098. We do sell that separately.
Were going to demonstrate how this installs. Again, this is designed specifically for 15 millimeter thru-axle forks. It does have the built-in safety tabs and it is finished with a nice black durable powder coat finish. The capacity is one bike. It does have a lifetime warranty.
Basically what you want to do is like on your fork-mount bike racks it will have the rod that goes through there. Well go ahead and zoom in to give you a better idea of how that installs. Okay, right here the fork well just install right onto the rod. Youll tighten it to the correct tension and then just pry up on the handle and that will lock it into place. Then what you want to do is now the bike weve already taken off the front tire and here is the 15 millimeter through axle.
So what you want to do is line your front of the fork of your bike up. Thatll sit right on there. Theres cutouts on the bike that that would sit right on there. Run this through the adapter. Go ahead and spin it until it tightens down.
Then back it off just a little until you get it to the part. A little bit more. Then just push it and thatll lock it into place. Then thatll attach the bike to the bike rack. Very simple installation and easy to remove it also. That should do it for review on part number Y02099 the Yakima Universal Fork Adapter for 15 millimeter thru-axle forks.

This Yakima Fork Adapter allows owners of bikes with quick-release, 15-mm, thru-axle forks to transport their bikes on any fork-mount bike carrier. It fit onto my yakima roof rack very well and the Fox 15 mm thru-axle fit perfectly thru the device. We have been very happy w this accessory.
The adapter works to mount the bike but it is a little awkward to use. The adapter itself can rotate around the skewer meaning the bike can initially move in unexpected ways as you put it on the roof. I have tried to mount to bike two ways--put the adapter in on the ground and then mount to the roof or mount the adapter to the roof and then put the bike up. In each case, it took a bit of wiggle to get the adapter and fork mated and to be honest I found that easier on the ground, which is the reverse of the suggested procedure.
