Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at this Thule replacement U-bolt. This is going to replace a single U-bolt for your Thule Trail cargo basket. This will work for both the large and the medium models that you see on the screen there. So if you have either one of those, you can trust this is gonna be the exact replacement that you need since it is coming from Thule. You don't have to worry about fit issues or compatibility problems or anything like that.
But just to give you some extra reassurance, you can see this is going to be right about 3 1/2 inches in inner width there. Our height, we're looking at approximately 1 5/8ths of an inch. So this is going to accommodate your crossbars that are between 5/8ths of an inch and one inch tall and 3 1/2 inches in width. This will attach the roof cargo basket to the existing crossbar for you. So like I said because this is a direct replacement from Thule, you can trust it is gonna fit right in place of that original U-bolt.

The clearances could be a tad better, but this solution works. I don't recommend getting the larger size as the threads on the U-bolts are only so long and a larger size will leave too much play.
I had lost the other sized u-bolts that came with my kit and when I purchased a new car it had smaller crossbars, these were perfect replacement u-bolts for my Thule basket

this piece is working well. It was not the precise size needed, so took some bending and manipulating to make work, but now works sufficiently so we're in good enough shape.

After a year it contributes to work out well. No rust. And the U bolts hold the Thule Cargo box well to the Prinsu Rack.
