The wire used to make this harness has a thicker gauge than the wire in your vehicle's factory harness; the thicker wire is preferred for higher-wattage bulbs. Today we're going to review part number P230004HW. This is the Putco Heavy Duty Harness and Relays for the high wattage H4 halogen bulbs. Now this part number will include everything shown here on the table, the wiring harness, the two sets 30 amp relays, the mounting bracket and a mounting screw and a few of the zip ties to take up any excess wiring. Now this uses a thick gauge wiring which helps the bulbs burn brighter. It is designed for the high wattage H4 bulbs similar to this one right here. This high wattage bulb is a dual filament, it's a 90 low beam and 100 white high beam. This harness is a heat proof design which offers protection from temperatures as high as 480 degrees Fahrenheit.
It is a plug and play model. As you can see it just plugs in. It's very easy to install. This harness does replace the factory wiring. The connector plugs are made of a hard isolated plastic and the included relays will help prevent disruption of your vehicle's electrical system. This does come with a one-year warranty.
Now although, it is not required that you purchase a wiring harness to use your new Putco halogen lights, it is recommended especially when you go to the high wattage bulbs because the wire used in this harness has a thicker gauge then your factory harness and that thicker gauge wires are preferred for these higher wattage bulbs. The result is the bulbs will burn more brightly with greater measure of safety and you'll get no melted wires or heat related damage to your vehicle. Basically, when you install this, there's two plugs right here that these bulbs will just plug into. Coming from each plug is a black wire with a ring on it, that's for grounding. You do the same on this one with the other. Right here is where you'd plug in your relays.
They just plug in right like that and then you use the mounting bracket to install your relays, to mount them. The two red wires coming off here do get connected to the positive post of the battery to supply the power. Again, these zip ties are used if you want to take up any of this extra wiring. He told he purchased one for his XJ and his lights are super bright. I listened to my friend and did same thing. It took me about 20 mins to install. I am very satisfied! Although it was delayed, George was very helpful and let me know what was going on at all times! Thank you for your great service. I would totally recommend to anybody.
Installation was easy and took about an hour for my 1999 Jeep Cherokee XJ. Headlights were 25% brighter due to the direct , Short avenue that the juice now runs. Also cured the issue of intermittent headlight failure these XJ's are famous for.
