Lockrack Accessories and Parts - LR53FR

This adapter kit allows you to mount a LockRack watersport carrier to your roof rack crossbars without an accessory channel. Includes 4 adapters and mounting hardware.

Features:

Adapter kit lets you mount LockRack watersport carriers to your roof rack crossbars without an accessory channel
Padding on the interior of the adapters prevent your crossbars from being scratched
4 Adapters and mounting hardware included

Specs:

Application: round, square, aero, elliptical, and most factory crossbars
- Required for crossbars that do not have an accessory channel
Minimum dimensions:
- Overall: 5" long x 2" tall x 2" deep
- Inner dimensions: 2-1/2" x 7/8" tall
Maximum dimensions:
- Overall: 5" long x 2-1/2" tall x 2" deep
- Inner dimensions: 2-1/2" x 1-1/2" tall
Distance between bolt holes (center to center): 3-3/4"

Preparing The Adapters For LockRack's Channel Mount
Universal Adapter

Before you can mount your LockRack carrier to your crossbars, you'll need to add some channel mount hardware to the adapters. First you'll pull down the rubber pad and insert a t-bolt (sold separately) through the top of the adapter. After you've threaded the t-bolt in the top, place the rubber piece back in its original position on the adapter.

Universal Adapter

Now you're ready to secure the adapters around your crossbar. Once they are all secure, make sure to add a plastic spacer (sold separately) on each t-bolt before attaching your LockRack carrier base to the adapters.

Note: The t-bolts and plastic spacers should have been included with the purchase of your LockRack carrier. If you need to replace your t-bolts and spacers, they can be purchased separately; Part #LR72FR.

Product arrived quickly and is mostly as advertised. I was looking for something to attach to the Toyota factory bars on a RAV4, and I think these should work fine.

First, they feel a little flimsy for my intended adaptation, mounting bikes. Second, they bolt center distance is 3.75", not 2.5" as is stated in the "expert" opinion.

Product worked as described, I used these in place of Thule Speed links I had been using previously (not a Lockrack carrier). After having 2 of the speed links break (over time) I am glad to see there was something I could use that would fit my racks and extend the life of the system at a much lower cost.

Can Thule Stacker Kayak Carrier Fit 2024 Lexus NX 450h+
Hey Scott, so your best option will be to go with the new version of the Thule Stacker part # TH830 that fits the OEM bars of your 2024 Lexus NX 450H. The reason for this is that your current Stacker only fits square bars which Thule redesigned their square bars a few years ago and now their current roof rack components won't work with the bars you have. So that would mean you'd have to start over with a completely new roof rack and by the time you do that it just makes more sense to replace...

Troubleshooting Loose Lockrack Watersport Carrier Clamps on 2023 Nissan Rogue Factory Crossbars
I'm a little surprised that the clamps on the # LR54FR won't tighten down on your 2023 Nissan Rogue crossbars but it is not unheard of with watersport carriers. The easiest way to fix the issue is to add in a thin piece of rubber. This will increase the crossbar diameter and fill the extra space which will allow you to tighten the clamps down so they're nice and secure.

Can The Universal Crossbar Adapter # LR53FR Be Used For Securing a Rooftop Cargo Box To Cross Bars?
The U-Bolts and other hardware in the Replacement Hardware Kit # TH05603 are going to be much stronger than the Universal Crossbar Adapter # LR53FR you found. Since the U-Bolts have a larger metal surface to distribute the load across they are less likely to become damaged. The mounts you found only have a small hole for the hardware which is fine for some small roof mounted accessories but I would be hesitant on using them on a cargo box as they typically have thinner plastic on the bottom...

Difference Between Channel and Universal Mounting Lockrack Adjustable Stand-Up Paddle Board Carrier
The difference is the mounting hardware that comes with the Lockrack Adjustable Stand-Up Paddle Board Carrier - 1 SUP. The Channel Mount # LR47FR comes with mounting hardware that slides into T-Slot channels in your roof rack crossbars, while the Universal Mount # LR84VR comes with mounting hardware for T-Slot channels as well as the clamping hardware, part # LR53FR, that allows you to install it on crossbars that don't have T-Slots - like what you'd see on a lot of OEM crossbars.

I spoke with LockRack and they said the bolt for the Universal Crossbar Adapter for Lockrack Watersport Carrier # LR53FR measures 1-3/8" long and takes a 3/16 or 5 mm hex key.
