This unique, adjustable nose plate from Gen-Y Hitch offers 4 mounting positions for your flat-plate-mount ball coupler or lunette ring (sold separately). This lets you easily adjust the height of your coupler to fit your application. This mount also has built-in shock absorption to ensure a safe, smooth towing experience. Using technology similar to that found in torsion trailer axles, the Gen-Y nose plate absorbs road shock, isolating any rough jarring or chucking at the connection point. This prevents the rough motion from transferring from the trailer to the vehicle and vice versa.

Built-In Shock Absorption for a Smooth Ride

When towing with a standard coupler, you might experience rough, jerking motion when driving over bumps. This harsh motion can cause shock and strain on your towing connection and can even potentially damage your vehicle or trailer. This Gen-Y Hitch torsion mount is designed to absorb road shock at the connection point to create a safe, smooth ride. This is thanks to the internal construction of the mount, which is similar to that of a torsion axle.

Pivot points are built into the center of this unit. This allows for movement between the plate where your coupler attaches and the trailer-side plate. When you're starting and stopping while towing a heavy load, the coupler side of the mount will move up and down accordingly.

torsion diagram

Built into the Gen-Y mount are tubes with inner bars that are surrounded by rubber cords. As the plate moves up and down, these inner bars twist inside of the tubes, attempting to follow the mount's motion. But the rubber cords prevent the bars from twisting too far. And as each bar turns, these cords compress to absorb the shock. This means that any shock experienced by your truck can be absorbed before it reaches your trailer, and the shock experienced by your trailer won't get transferred to your truck.

Easily Check Your Tongue Weight

scale

This mount features a built-in mechanical tongue weight scale. The highest arrow on the scale indicates the mount's maximum tongue weight (2,400 lbs). The lowest arrow indicates no tongue weight (0 lbs). There must be a minimum tongue weight of 1,500 lbs for the built-in shock absorption to function. This means that the tongue weight scale's white indicator marker should be between the highest arrow and the middle arrow when you hook up your trailer to tow.

Designed for Heavy-Duty Trailers

This Gen-Y Hitch torsion mount is perfect for use with heavy-duty stacker trailers that are used with multiple tow vehicles. Unlike the Gen-Y torsion ball mounts, this unit installs on your trailer so you can easily switch between tow vehicles of different heights. Just mount your flat-plate coupler on the plate, adjusting the height to match the height of your tow vehicle's hitch.

No matter what vehicle you want to tow with, you will get premium shock absorption and a smooth, steady ride.

This end over here connects to the vehicle. What this does, you have this section in between, and this functions like a torsion axle, to limit the amount of transfer of road shock from the vehicle to the trailer, and vice versa. With this system, there's no airbags to maintain.

There's fewer moving parts to repair or replace than with other shock absorbing solutions. Overall, it's a really nice design, very functional, and very effective. One of the neat advantages of having this suspension system in between your vehicle and your trailer is it's going to help protect your vehicle, like the suspension and anything regarding that, as well as your trailer and whatever it is you're hauling in or on your trailer. This is a heavy duty steel construction, features a zinc primer and powder coat finish to resist rust and corrosion.
