Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today I'm gonna take a look at this Firestone Electric Single Function Air Spring Control Panel with the Black Face Gauge. Now, this single function panel will control one pair of air helper springs. It is a metal control panel. It has the nice, black gauge face, with the single white needle.
Makes it easier to see. And it's designed to mount to your vehicle dashboard. Now, this part will include this zero to 150 psi electric control panel, the relay harness, the hardware and the connectors for installation. And basically, what this does is this will inflate and deflate your air springs from inside your vehicle cab. Basically, if you push the switch up, that'll inflate the bags.
Push it down to deflate the bags. Give you a few dimensions on the panel itself. The width, at the widest point, is up top here. It's right at four and five eights inches wide. The height, from bottom to the top, is two and three quarter inches tall.
Specs again, the application. This is an electric control panel that's used in your air spring systems that do not use tanks. Now, a compressor will be required. We do so separately on our website. Initial install was Cell phone based wireless control. It was flaky but usable, until it was "updated", then it became useless. I purchased these components to rework for simple manual control. It works, but I will not recommend the wireless system due to poor initial experience. Buy manual only!!
My RV came from the factory with the Firestone Digital Air Command II Wireless air suspension. Over the 4 years I've owned it the wireless system has only worked about half the time. Leaking sensors were the biggest problem, replacing 3. The last straw was the digital controller went bonkers and after airing up would dump for no reason.
My mechanic and I decided to go manual and get rid of all whiz bang stuff 'cause no matter how whiz bang it looks, if it doesn't work...well, you do the math. We went with the F2191 which works with all my existing equipment. Rather than under-dash mounting as it is designed, he modified it to flush mount on the side of the compartment that houses the compressor, etc. reducing air line and electrical runs and it looks like a factory installation.
Just hold the momentary switch up and read the pressure gauge until you reach the desired PSI and let it go. Push down to exhaust the system. It's even wired to only light the gauge dial when operating so we don't have an unwanted nite-lite.
I can't over state what a great help e-trailer was in my decision and purchase of this product. They gladly sent me specs, wiring and air diagrams, and installation instructions prior to my purchase. They also contacted Firestone to answer some questions I had. The product performs flawlessly and I couldn't be happier with my e-trailer experience. See attached photos to for a look at the custom mount.
The gauge and switch were pretty much plug and play. I was able to reuse the tubing from my old system with new terminations installed. Easy peasy.
