Ellen: Hey everyone, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're going to be taking a quick look at the Pop & Lock Tailgate Lock Conversion Kit. This allows you to change out your existing lock that uses your ignition key to open and close, and lets you have a separate key to do that. So that way you don't have to worry about anybody that you might hand your key off to, valet parking, attendants, mechanics, anybody else that you might be handing those keys to, to be able to get into your back tailgate, especially if you've got a camper or a tunnel cover that locks, this helps to keep everything secure. This is a custom fit locking mechanism, so it will work for just certain trucks, and those are going to be your Chevy and GMC trucks. It's going to work with the GMC Sierra from 2007 to 2013 and also with the Chevrolet Silverado from the same years, 2007 to 2013, that's for the 1500.And it also worked for the 2014 GMC Sierra, 2500 and 3500 as well as the Chevy Silverado, 2500 and 3500. Those are all for the eight foot bed and it includes the crew cab as well. So this is going to be the mechanism itself I have it kind of roughly put together.
These two pieces might be a little bit different, you just want to match them up with whatever you take off of your locking mechanisms. So just match those with what you've got. Really doesn't take too much to get this installed. You just need a half inch socket and then a flat blade screwdriver. So the components you will get are this little actuating arm, a threaded nut here, or kind of a ring nut, are two smaller brackets, a rubber o-ring, you want to make sure that you put this right underneath the head of the lock cylinder and then the lock cylinder itself. It does come with two keys to get that locked up, and should be a pretty easy install overall. There's no cutting required, no drilling or anything like that.
So pretty easy to replace that out and make sure that everything is secure in your vehicle. It is covered by a one-year warranty and that's pretty much all there is to it for our look at the Pop & Lock Valet Conversion Kit for your tailgate lock. I hope this has been helpful in the setting of this is going to be the right kit for you. And thanks for watching.
