Install your Curt electric trailer brake controller quickly and easily with this custom wiring adapter. Simply plug one end of the adapter into your controller and then plug the other end into the built-in port beneath your vehicle's dash.

Features:

  • Plug-in wiring adapter allows for quick, simple installation of your electric trailer brake controller
  • No cutting or splicing required on most applications
    • Custom connector end plugs into the built-in port beneath the dash of your vehicle
    • Other end plugs into the back of your electric brake controller
  • Compatible with time-delayed and proportional brake controllers from Curt
    • Brake controller must have built-in plug for adapter to connect - will not work on controllers with pigtail wiring harnesses
  • 2' Long, 12-gauge wires have protective covering to deter damage
  • Limited 1-year warranty

Note: The factory brake controller plug on certain Nissan Titan XE models has a pin configuration that does not match up with this adapter plug. To install this adapter in those vehicles, hardwiring is required.

Installation of Curt Brake Controller Adapter

To install your Curt electric brake controller, you need to connect the wiring of the controller to your vehicle. Certain auto manufacturers offer pre-wired options, typically known as tow packages, wherein wiring is run for you from the dash to the trailer connector on the back of your vehicle. When this is done, a port is installed at your dash so that you can easily plug in a brake controller.

This adapter plugs into the port on your vehicle's built-in brake control wiring harness. The harness is located underneath the dash, to the left of the steering column, and it is taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal.

No hardwiring is required to install this adapter in most vehicles. After you plug it into the factory port, you simply plug the other end of the adapter directly into your electric trailer brake controller. Because there are no wires to connect, installation is not permanent. You can unplug and remove your brake controller at any time to transfer it to another vehicle or securely stow it away.

ITS BEEN A YEAR SINCE INSTALLATION, ITS BEEN IN THE SAME LOCATION, HAVENT HAD ANY PROBLEMS! GREAT PRODUCT, GREAT PRICE!

The Curt Echo is now on my Nissan Armada and works perfectly. It was an easy hookup with the supplied harness and does its job.

by:

I've had the brake controller in use for over a year in my 2012 Nissan Frontier. The install was easy and took about an hour. My truck is a 2WD model so I mounted the controller in the plug that is used to select between 2WD and 4WD on vehicles equipped with 4WD. So the install look like factory.

by:

Simple connection. FYI: On the 22-24 Nissan Frontier the plug-in is left of your left knee, above the kick panel. It is the larger of the 2 white connectors. No need to take kick panel off.

by:
Nissan Frontier

This custom wiring adapter made hooking up my Curt controller very easy to my factory wired nissan frontier.

by:

Plugs right in without effort. Stiff enough that it loops behind dash and is well hidden

For the most part I have been very happy with the merchandise that I have ordered from etrailer. But right now, I think that the people pulling the orders have to slow down a little and look closer at the details. I had ordered a C51382 cable but was sent a C51362 cable. They are not inter-changeable. They are shipping a new cable today (Tue.) I am supposed to get it by Thursday, depending on what time it gets here I may be able to get it done Thursday night and then calibrate the brake controller. Otherwise I am supposed to be on the road Friday but first I will have to take care of this and calibrating the brake controller on top of everything else.

So much easier than cutting wires and crimping butt splices. Plus it make un-installation easier and doesn't void the warranty for the brake controller. the time saved was worth the money for me.

One year later and unlike my guitar hero drum kit the insulation on the wires has not cracked and fallen off yet. Plus its nice to be able to unplug the unit from the car.

by:
2004 Nissan Titan

I ordered this wiring harness because it said it would work with my 2004 Nissan
Titan. It does not. The plug on one end of the harness matches none of the plugs on the truck wiring.

Thanks for pointing this out, Russell. The factory brake controller plug on some vehicles primarily XE models do not have the 4 pins to match up with the adapter plug. The factory plug will need to be hardwired onto the brake controller adapter that was purchased.

Your company is awesome! I can’t write about the brake controller because my mechanic is putting it on today and it is the one he recommended. What I can write about is the customer service. You made ordering simple and the follow-up is fantastic. Delivery was quick and there were no delays. I will use your company again — and again. Thank you…

Worked great. Exactly what I needed to hook up my brake controller on my 2018 Nissan Armada

Item arrived 3 days early and was exactly what I needed. Customer support was excellent. I highly recommend and would gladly use etrailer again.

Nissan Frontier

The trailer light kit I got was very easy to install with the helpful video and instruction etrailer has. etrailer made it very easy to select the correct trailer accessories for my Frontier. They were helpful when I called and the website is very easy to use! I have made other purchases through etrailer because it is easy to use and they have what I needed all in one place. Thanks!

by:

This product is easy to install with the correct harnesses. It is relatively basic, but it handled our application quite nicely. I was a complete novice when I started this project and had to learn as I went, but this is a nice brake controller.

by:

etrailers out did my expectations. I ordered a trailer brake controller and pigtail one day, and they were at my doorstep the very next day. Boy, talk about fast. My rig works great , easy as pie setup, good price ( and I did look around), no problems at all. You guys are great. I will be buying from etrailer.com again for any of my trailer and accessories. Great job guys and girls.

by:

Truly plug and go, except at the back of the truck when the trailer plug harness plugged in, the brake wire and power wire were crossed. Research explained that Nissan Frontier's are known for the unconventional switch with aftermarket wiring. I simply cut, switched, soldered. All good now.

by:

Ordered gooseneck hitch, wiring harness and break controller for my truck. Perfect fit , easy connections best purchase ever made on internet. Very good price and great customer service! ??

by:

Great product!!! Installed in a matter of minutes. Determining where to attach the control took longer than the install. Pulled the trailer on a trip on roads with several steep inclines and applied the trailer brakes sparingly on the decent. Was able to adjust with the proper brake applications needed. Worked great. Made me feel confident that I could control the trailer on any road way. I very much recommend this trailer brake control for two axle trailers.

2014 Nissan Frontier

recently purchased a Curt Venturer Brake controller with wiring harness for my 2014 Nissan Frontier. installation was as easy as shown in the video. after hooking up camper, initial brake setup and test drive was 10 minutes! everything should be this easy!

by:
2010 Nissan Frontier

I ordered a brake controller and a wiring harness from etrailer for my Nissan Frontier. It was shipped and delivered on time. When I went to install it everything was right and took 10 minutes to install and worked great. This was my first order from etrailer but it won't be my last. It was great to get a good price and great service

by:

It was easy to install and works as advertised. I have never installed or used brake controllers before so I can't really give a valid star rating as I have nothing to compare it to. For that reason I will give it an average rating.

by:

Used with Curt brake controller. Only giving 2 stars as I'm having issues with the controller and at this time, not sure if it could be this cable? Unlikely but can't rate this any higher since I rated the brake controller 2 stars and this is essentially part of that setup.

2019 Nissan Frontier

Easy installation on a 2019 Nissan Frontier with factory towing package. I opted to screw the controller to the left side bulkhead. The control knob mounted on the dash looks like it came from the factory. Much nicer than a controller slung to the bottom of the dash.

  • Parts Needed to Install an Electric Brake Controller in a 2010 Nissan Xterra
Since you already have the Curt 7-Way T-Connector, part # C56226, and it plugged right into the round connector on your 2010 Nissan Xterra you likely have the electric brake controller connector under the dash. Look under your dash for a connector that the wiring harness, part # C51382, plugs into. It's likely located to the left of the steering column, and possibly taped to another harness. If you have this connector then the # C51382 harness is all you need to install the Curt Reflex...

This harness will plug directly into your vehicle. This adapter plugs into the port on your vehicle's built-in brake control wiring harness. I recommend using the Tekonsha Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers # 3050-S. Since your trailer's brakes worked on another truck that would indicate that the problem is on the truck side of the equation. First and easiest thing to check is to check for corrosion on your truck's 7-way. Some fine grit sandpaper can easily remove any corrosion that would prevent the connetion from being made. Testing the brake controller is fairly easy. Sever the blue brake output wire near the brake controller leaving enough room to reconnect it and then apply the manual slide....

With your trailer brakes locking up as soon as the trailer is connected it leads me to believe that the brake switch is sending power when it should not. This comes with the wiring and relays needed for the installation but you may be interested in the mounting brackets # PK12711U and # C57202 as well to easily mount the 7-Way. A time-delayed brake controller basically functions as the title says. When you apply the brakes on your vehicle, there is a slight delay in the braking of the trailer.
