This eliminates the issue of you having to lower your tailgate down every time you want to back up to hook up your fifth wheel trailer. You can just back right up, hook up, and take off without ever having to even get out of the truck.The louvered design will allow air flow to go through it to help increase with your aerodynamics, to help improve fuel economy, and also to reduce wind noise. Here's what our tailgate looks like installed. Now the reason you're gonna want a tailgate such as this one is that the open design that it offers allows you to back up to your fifth wheel or your gooseneck trailer with your tailgate in the upright position without having to lower it and you can still get coupled to it. One thing that our customers like about this is that the primed powder coat finish that we have on here is paintable, so you can have it painted to match the color of your truck. The steel construction of your tailgate means that it's a very sturdy piece, and it'll last a very long time. Stromberg Carlson Tailgate Installation - 2017 Ram 3500- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Ram 3500, we're going to be installing a Stromberg Carlson 100 Series Fifth Wheel Tailgate, part number VGD-10-100. This is going to be an economical solution for someone who uses their fifth wheel all the time. This way you've got full access to your fifth wheel while your trailer's hooked up, and you don't need to worry about coming into contact with your tailgate.Now, there are releases for the latches here, so you can still open your tailgate if you need to. Pull each one individually, and it will lay down and rest on your bumper. Now, if you want, you can drill a hole and reattach your original cable. It comes with a black primed finish, which already looks great with our black truck here but can be painted to match any color truck.The large opening at the top of your tailgate is going to measure about 34 inches, and the opening at the middle of the tailgate is going to be about 14-1/4 inches. more

Stromberg Carlson 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate Installation - 2012 Ram 3500- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2012 Ram 3500, we'll be having a look at and installing the Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate with Lock, part number: VGD-10-4000. All right, the first thing you'll notice is that our tailgate has a cutout here, which is designed for when we're towing a 5th wheel or a gooseneck trailer. We don't have to lower our tailgate in order to hook up and couple to our trailer, and most applications you should be able to hook up your 5th wheel trailer without dropping this tailgate. Our tailgate is constructed of a plastic composite, which is super lightweight, and yet very strong. This will give us many years of rust-resistant service because, being plastic, it won't rust. The great thing about this tailgate is that it follows all the contours of our bed, including our tail light, to give us a factory-like appearance.Our tailgate features a vented design, which will help reduce drag by letting the airflow pass through it, which in turn will help improve fuel economy. more

Today on our 2016 Ram 3500 we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Stromberg Carlson 100 Series 5th Wheel Tailgate with open design for Dodge trucks. Part number VGD-10-100. Here's what our tailgate looks like once we have it completely adjusted. It's going to fit really nice against the back of your vehicle and follow the factory contour. It's made out of a heavy duty steel tubular design, fully welded. It is powder coated to help keep rust and corrosion off, but you can paint it to match your vehicle if you desire. It's got a nice flow through design. It's going to increase your visibility to the back of your vehicle. more

Today on our 2016 Ram 3500, we'll be taking a look at and do a test fit to the Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series Fifth Wheel Louvered Tailgate. It's going to have a lock on it and it's going to be part number VGD-10-4000. Here's what our Stromberg Carlson Tailgate is going to look like once it's installed on our vehicle. Now, you can see it's going to have that nice louvered design to add fuel efficiency and lower the air resistance on the back end of your vehicle while you're towing. It's going to be great with that drop down design for those fifth wheel and gooseneck applications. With a high strength molded plastic that's going to be durable over a long period of time and light weight and easy to manipulate when you want to take it off or put it on for your trips. more

DeeZee Tailgate Assist Lowering System Installation - 2015 Ram 3500- Video
Today on our 2015 Ram 3500 heavy duty crew cab we're going to be installing the Dee Zee Tailgate Assist custom tailgate lowering system for Ram trucks, part number DZ43301. Now here is our fitting that we're going to need to install into the tailgate. It has the tool actually to install this little crush fitting that will allow you to thread the bolt in. It will actually be this little ball and socket piece here. It will go in here. This pieces right here are actually for installing it. more
