When it comes to motorhomes, a lot of people really aren't satisfied with how they perform in terms of driving it down the road. The suspension's kinda all over the place. The steering's usually sloppy. And these are just a big brick, more or less going down the road and really top heavy, they catch wind. more

Rob: Everybody, this is Rob at etrailer.com and today we are in a 2017 Ford F53 Chassis motorhome that we're going to be putting some SumoSpring helper springs on.Now here at etrailer, we get a lot of questions about suspension, especially on motorhomes. Because let's face it, they're really top heavy, they're tall and there's a lot of area for when to catch. They don't typically drive the best and we end up getting tossed around, pushed around on the highway, we're fighting the steering wheel, fighting ruts, and overall just not an enjoyable experience most of the time.Helper springs are going to do a lot of different things to help those and alleviate those problems. It's going to help a lot with the sway and the body roll feeling because it is going to stiffen up the suspension. And it's also going to help absorb a lot of bumps and the jarring feeling we get resonating through the seats. But before we go over some of the features and really see those, we need to get a baseline of how our motorhome drives. more

Today on our 2017 Ford F53 Chassis Motorhome, we're gonna be taking a look at, and showing you how to install, the SumoSprings Maxim Custom Helper Springs for the rear axle.Having a motorhome can be a great thing. We can take trips with our family and see a lot of places that we could never see before. But one thing that a lot of people don't talk about and don't think about is the suspension and how their motorhome is going to drive.Here at etrailer.com, we see a lot of the issues of customers coming in complaining that their motorhome feels like it's rolling, it's got a lot of body roll, and just not all that stable going down the road. And we can see in our motorhome, there's quite a bit of space for wind to catch the side. We're basically driving a giant windscreen going down the highway. So we're fighting that wind, pushing the steering wheel back and forth, which eventually can get very tiring and not very much fun once we get to our location.So we're gonna take our motorhome out on our test course and see how it handles before we put our suspension upgrades on.As I'm driving through our bump course here, I can definitely feel each time I hit a bump, whether it's a solid bump and the front end's coming up and coming back down and bouncing really hard, or if it's alternating bumps to where we're getting a lot of body roll back and forth. more

Having a motor home can be a great thing. Not to mention, the side of them are gonna catch a lot of wind on the highway. It's just a giant box on wheels, so the wind is just gonna catch right on the side. That's where our helper springs are gonna come in to play. They're gonna help reduce that body roll, give us a little bit more stability when we're driving down the road, so everyone can feel a lot more safe and more comfortable.Now that we have them installed, let's go ahead and take them for a ride and see how they handle. With our helper springs installed, I can tell you I definitely feel a difference going around corners, doesn't wanna roll as much and it just feels like there's a lot more control. more

SumoSprings Maxim Front Axle Helper Springs Installation - 2017 Ford F-53- Video
Today on our 2017 Fleetwood Bounder on the Ford F53 Chassis, we're going to take a look at and also show you how to install the SumoSprings Maxim Custom Helper Springs for the Front Axle. Part number is SSF-180-40-1. Now here's what our SumoSpring's going to look like installed. As you can see, it's a connection point between our frame and our axle. This is going to do several things for us. One, it helps to prevent body roll because we have one on each side. more
