Firestone Ride-Rite Rear Air Helper Springs Installation - 2013 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

Shane: Hey everyone. Shane here with etrailer.com. Today I have a 2013 Ford F250 Super Duty and I want to walk through how to install the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs for the rear axle. Air Helper Springs are going to provide extra support for your rear axle so your axle is not making up for what your suspension can't handle.Nice thing about having these springs is they can be aired up independently. If we have more weight on one side of the vehicle, we can add a little bit more air in that spring to help support that load on that one side. Now, if you're wanting to make it a little bit easier to add and decrease the pressure in your bags, there are compressors available. more

Hi there, Ford owners. Today on your 2013 Ford F250, we're going to be installing Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 air helper springs. And this is what our airbags look like when they're installed. It's going to sit between the frame of the vehicle and it's going to rest on top of the jounce bumper plate, located right above our axle. Each airbag has its own independent air line going through it, so they can be aired up independently. This is nice if you need to adjust for any uneven loads that may be placed in the back of your vehicle. Each airbag will operate between 5-100 psi. Five is typically used when the vehicle's unloaded. You don't ever want to run it all the way empty, so five pounds is your minimum. more

Best 2013 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty Suspension Enhancement Options

Speaker 1: Today we're gonna be taking a look at the best suspension enhancements for your 2013 Ford F-150, F-250, and F-350. Here we're gonna have a leaf spring style helper spring, followed by our airbag helper springs, and then over here we're gonna have a jounce style helper spring, and this is gonna be our lower overload helper spring, and then finally on the end, this is gonna be our upper overload helper spring. Each one of our types of suspension enhancements are gonna do the same thing. When we're carrying a heavy load or hauling a heavy trailer, they're gonna prevent the back end of our truck from sagging, causing more strain on your suspension, as well as lifting up the front end, creating less contact for our tires, and not a safe driving condition. They're all gonna prevent all those things from happening, so let's take a closer look at some of the benefits from each one. Now, our helper leaf springs here are not only gonna give us that load leveling support, but they're also gonna give us a little bit of anti-sway because of the way they're gonna mount. Our leaf spring style helper springs are gonna mount to our factory leaf springs. They're gonna activate our lower overload springs to help evenly distribute weight, ensuring the truck stays level for better handling, and it's gonna reduce side to side sway and body roll. more

Air Lift LoadLifter Air Helper Springs Installation - 2013 Ford F-250

Today on our 2013 Ford F250 Super Duty, we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Air Lift Loadlifter 5000 ultimate air helper springs with internal jounce bumpers, part number AL88396. Here's what they look like once they're installed. Some of the reasons you might want these, it's going to help stabilize your load, and if you have an off center load like one side is heavier than the other, you can independently air up each bag and get your vehicle set level. With the internal jounce bumper, it's going to help improve your ride quality. When you do have your vehicle riding level, you're not going to aim your headlights into the eyes of the oncoming traffic. These are going to help level your load up to 5000 pounds. You want to keep in mind, you have to keep at least five pounds of air in the bag at all times, and the maximum is going to be 100 pounds of air pressure when you're hauling a load. With many of our customers have said that these do work well with this wheel hitches, just have to use the original hardware that came with your fifth wheel hitch, the bolt through the center there, to mount your air bags. Our vehicle about any weight in it, at the rear wheel well, the bottom of the rear wheel well, it's going to be about 40 3/4", and on the front, we're going to be right at about 40". more

The difference between this Air Lift air bellow and another without the internal jounce bumpers, is that it won't be completely compressed like one that does not have an internal jounce bumper. First we'll go ahead and compress the air helper spring with jounce bumper. Then we'll do one without. Here is a side-by-side comparison. With the internal jounce bumper, it will prevent the air bellow from being pinched if you we're ever to lose air while the vehicle is loaded.
