Best 2008 Toyota Highlander Hitch Options

Today on our 2008 Toyota Highlander, we'll be looking at the most popular hitch options, starting with a Curt Class III here on the top, part number 13534. Then we have a Draw-Tite Class III here in the middle, part number 75726. Then we have another Draw-Tite Class III here on the bottom, part number 75586. As you can see, all of our hitches have a very similar design. The Curt and the Draw-Tite here in the middle, they both slide over our muffler on the passenger side of the vehicle, whereas the Draw-Tite here on the bottom goes underneath it. The Draw-Tite here on the bottom will be the easiest to install, because you don't have to wiggle it in position over the muffler and tailpipe. They all have generally the same points of attachment. more

Now we'll go ahead and give you a couple of measurements in helping you choose some accessories for your hitch, such as a ball mount, a bicycle rack, or a cargo carrier. From the center of the hitch and hull to the outermost edge of the bumper, it's pretty well even, but the hitch receiver tube does stick out approximately two and a half inches past the outermost edge of the bumper. The push pin fasteners, you can remove by taking a flathead screwdriver and working out the centerpiece of the push pin fastener, and then the rest of the fastener will pull out. Now that we have both plastic appearance panels removed, we're going to need to remove each of the tow hooks. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2008 Toyota Highlander

Today on this 2008 Toyota Highlander we will be installing Curt hitch part number 13534. We are underneath the Highlander and we are going to point out the mounting location for the trailer hitch. Before we do that though we need to remove a couple of the under body panels that are preventing us from gaining access to those mounting points. Starting over here on the driver side holding it into place we have four Phillips head screws and two push rivets that are going to need to come out in order to remove this piece. Then over here on the passenger side panel we have got two Phillips head screws, one push rivet, and one hex head bolt that is attaching it to the frame. To remove the push rivets that we have in place, we just take a flat head screwdriver, it into this inner piece here until it releases and just pull that right out of there. 01:00 more
