Best 2009 Dodge Ram Pickup Hitch Options

Today on our 2009 Dodge Ram Pickup, we're going to be taking a look at the best hitch options available. The three hitches we'll be taking a look at today are all Class V hitches, and they're all going to work with or without your factory hitch installed. First we have the Curt Commercial Duty Hitch with a 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" opening, which is part number C15809. Next, we have the Curt Extra Duty with the 2" x 2" opening, which is part number C15409, and then finally, we have the BMW Heavy Duty Trailer Hitch. It all also has a 2" x 2" opening, and its part number is BMWHDRH25211. When it comes to weight rating, the Curt Commercial Duty is going to offer us a maximum gross trailer weight rating of 20,000 pounds and a maximum tongue weight rating of 2,700 pounds. The Curt Extra Duty offers us a max gross trailer weight rating of 17,000 pounds and a max tongue weight rating of 2,550 pounds. Finally, the BMW is going to offer us a 16,000 pound max gross trailer weight rating and a 1,600 pound max tongue weight rating. All of the weight ratings remain the same if you're using weight distribution. more

Today on this 2009 Dodge Ram we're going to install part number 87530 from Hidden Hitch. First thing we're going to do is go ahead and lower our spare tire, we dont have to do this but it makes things a little easier to see. Next we'll go ahead and remove the trailer board cover from the top of the bumper. We'll use a screw driver to help push up it and out of the way. Next we'll go ahead and install the 3/4-inch hex bolt and conical toothwasher. When we put in place we'll make sure that the teeth on the conical toothwasher or pointed towards the bumper. more

Today on this 2009 Dodge Ram Pickup, were going to install part number 75662 from Draw-Tite. First thing were going to do is go ahead and lower our spare tire. We dont have to do this, but it makes things a little easier to see. Next, well go ahead and remove the trailer ball cover from the top of the bumper. Well use a screw driver to help push up a knob away. Next, well go ahead and install the 3/4-inch hex bolt and a conical toothed washer. more

Today on this 2009 Dodge Ram Pickup, we're going to install part number 13333 from Curt. This is what the hitch looks like once it's installed on the vehicle. Next, we'll go ahead and give you some measurements that will help you out in selecting some accessories such as a ball mount, a bicycle rack, or a cargo carrier. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the bumper will be about 1-3/4 inches. From the top of the receiver tube down to the ground will be about 20-1/4 inches. Now, I'll go ahead and show you how the hitch is installed. more

Next, we'll give you some measurements that will help you out in selecting some accessories such as a ball mount, a bicycle rack, or a cargo carrier. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the bumper, we're looking at 2-1/4 inches. From the top of the receiver opening down the ground, we're looking at 19-1/4 inches.
