Trailer Hitch Installation - 2006 Buick Lucerne - Curt

Today on this 2006 Buick Lucerne, were going to install part number C12044 in currant. All right, the first thing we need to do is go ahead and get our car ready. We need to lower the exhaust. Before we do that, well go ahead and use a strap to help hold our exhaust and support it while we undo the fasteners that are holding the exhaust in place. Well go ahead and remove the exhaust hanger bracket from the bottom of the frame rail. In this case, our vehicle was a dual exhaust. There is a bolt well have to remove for the hanger bracket, another one on each side. Now, well go towards the front of the exhaust a little bit, where weve got another set of hangers. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2006 Buick Lucerne

Today on this 2006 Buick Lucerne, we are going to be installing Draw-Tite hitch part number 36309. And this installation will also apply to Hidden Hitch part number 90140. OK, we are underneath the vehicle and we are taking a look at the driver side frame rail. We want to go ahead and point out the mounting location for the trailer hitch. The first thing that I want to note is that we do have exhaust here, right in the way of the frame rail. And on this particular vehicle, we do have dual exhaust. So, it is the same on both the driver and passenger side. We do need to lower the exhaust down. In doing so, we want to go ahead and take and remove the bolt at the rear portion of the frame here. And that is going to lower down the exhaust bracket. We want to do that on both the driver and passenger sides for dual exhaust models. Before lowering the exhaust hangers though, I do want to go ahead and put a support strap across the main exhaust tube here, at the forward side of the vehicle. The reason is, once you remove the exhaust off of its hangers, it could put additional strain on the forward exhaust hangers and possibly allow it to fall and damage the exhaust. 0:55 more
