Curt Trailer Hitch Installation - 2013 BMW X5

Shane: Hey guys, Shane here with etrailer.com. Today, I'm going to walk through how to install the CURT class three trailer hitch receiver on your 2013 BMW X5.Looking for a hitch for this vehicle, in my opinion, you're going to want one that is going to maintain a nice clean look on the vehicle. You can see how the CURT hitch fits on there. It's nice and flush with the edge of the bumper. The receiver or the cross tube is completely hidden behind our bumper fascia. So, we're not really seeing much, again, maintaining the nice clean look of the BMW itself. This hitch is going to be a steel construction, black powder coat finish. more

Now the first thing you'll notice is that all of our hitches are gonna share a very similar design, and that's because each one of them, the cross tube is gonna be meant to be hidden behind the bumper and all we're gonna see is the receiver tube sticking out. more

Today on our 2013 BMW X5, we'll be installing the "Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver," part number 75600. All right, here's what our hitch looks like installed. As you can see, it's completely hidden behind our bumper cover. The only part you see hanging down is the actual 2-inch receiver itself and the safety chain loops right here on the bottom of the receiver. These safety chain loops are really easy to use, since they're a round tubular design. You can even hook in the smallest diameter safety chains in there without a problem. This Class III hitch is rated for a max gross trailer weight rating of 6,000 pounds and a max tongue weight rating of 600 pounds. more
