Best 2012 BMW X1 Trailer Hitch Options

Hey, everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today, on our 2012 BMW X1, we're gonna be taking a look at our best trailer hitch options. So today, we're gonna be checking out four different hitches. All right, so this one up here, this is the Curt hitch. This one here is the Draw-Tite. Below it, we have the EcoHitch, and down here, we have the Stealth hitch, and before we get kinda too carried away, I would just want to suggest what hitch I would use and just brief reasoning why, and if I was looking to do a little bit of everything, pulling around some lighter-duty trailers, using bike racks and things like that, I think I would go with the EcoHitch and that's because I think it looks good and it's relatively capable, but if I was someone who was wanting to essentially just strictly tow a trailer, that weighed, had a little bit of weight to it, I think I would go with the Draw-Tite, and I say that because this one's gonna give us the highest weight capacities, but with that said, why don't we kinda elaborate a little bit more and kind of go over some of the differences and similarities that all these hitches have. more

Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2021 BMW X1, we're gonna be showing you how to install the Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver. But before we do that, why don't we kind of check this out and talk about how it's gonna work with some accessories like bike racks, and maybe a few of the things that you're gonna need to be able to pull a trailer. First and foremost, I do want to address one of the big questions that we get asked a lot in regards to these X1s whenever you're putting a hitch on it. And that is, is the hitch gonna interfere with the hands-free lift gate assist And the answer is no, it's still going to work. You're just gonna have to kick your foot to either side of the hitch and the door will open up just like it should. more

Today in our 2015 BMW X1 we're going to be taking a look at, and installing the Draw-Tite Class III Max-Frame trailer hitch receiver, part number 75761. Here's what this hitch is going to look like once it's installed on the vehicle. What I like most about this hitch is the bumper clearance that it gives you, so it should be nice and easy to use with just about any accessory, and it's going to maintain a clean look on the vehicle. This hitch features the two inch by two inch receiver tube opening nicely welded on the reinforcement collar around it. It's got the rolled steel safety chain connection points. Has a standard 5/8" hitch pin hole for securing all the Class III accessories. It's also got this half inch hole which is going to be good for use with the j-pin stabilization system which helps to eliminate some of the shake and play inside the receiver with the shank. The edge of this receiver tube opening is just a hair past the edge of the bumper, but it's not far enough past that it should really cause any issues like hitting your leg on it on a regular basis or any problems like that. It features a 400 pound max tongue weight rating which is the downward force on the inside edge of this receiver tube opening. It features a 3500 pound gross trailer weight rating, which is the weight of the trailer and anything which you may have on it. It is ready for use with the weight distribution system, and when used with weight distribution the tongue weight is going to stay the same, but the gross trailer weight rating is going to go up to 4000 pounds. more

Best 2016 BMW X1 Hitch Options

Today we're going to be taking a look at the best hitch options for the 2016 BMW X1. The first hitch is the Curt class 3 receiver hitch part number C13303. Our second hitch is the Draw-Tite class 3 max frame receiver trailer hitch part number 76018. One of the biggest differences in the hitches is that the Draw-Tite has an upward bracket as opposed to the Curt which has a flat bracket that mounts to the bottom side of the frame. This one's going to mount to one of the bumper bolts. You will have to drill one hole in your frame rail on each side. The Curt is has three holes to drill in the frame rail on the driver's side and two on the passenger's side. Another big difference in the two is the Draw-Tite has a mounting point for the 7 way or the 4 flat connector to be attached to where as the Curt does not. Another difference in the Draw-Tite is it has two holes for the hitch fin. more
