Tow strap's the wider, thinner one, that we're used to seeing. And with those you just don't have any give, when they come tight there's a lot of force generated on the vehicle that's recovering, a lot of force generated on the vehicle that's being recovered, and it can make it really abrupt, puts a lot of energy into those. With the recovery rope, we have the same benefits of that tow strap, but it gives us 25% stretch. more

This rope is rated for 63,000 pounds of brake strength, 21,000 pounds for vehicle recovery, and essentially what we have is in 30 foot nylon rope. As we put tension on it, unlike the tow straps that are out there, it's gotten 25% flex, or 25% give in it. Now not only is that stretch going to make it much easier on both vehicles involved, the one doing the recovering and the one needing to be recovered, but it also gives us a little bit of an advantage in actually getting the vehicle unstuck.Now this one, we just ran it out here enough to get it stuck. more

This is going to work out well for those situations where we need to get our vehicle unstuck from a mud hole, from rocks or any other situation where our vehicle is going to encounter some resistance from what could be considered mire. This is going to have a stretch to it, so it allows you to build up kinetic energy that's been converted into potential energy at your vehicle and that potential energy is going to generate the force that will end up propelling that vehicle out and get you unstuck. This is an advantage over a static type tow strap that would just have a jarring effect and not really give you that slingshot effect. This is going to be really useful for those situations where we're going to be getting our vehicle, whether that's a jeep, truck, ATV, any kind of off-road vehicle stuck. And typically, if you're going rock climbing or rock crawling, doing some mudding, anything like that where you might get stuck in the mire. This is going to help to get you back out, and out on the trail again.The reason being that you'd want to use a kinetic rope versus a static or just a stable tow strap is because this isn't going to allow you to build potential energy as you pull on that rope. Today I'll be taking a look at the Bulldog Recovery Strap. This is going to be a heavy duty strap for those times we need to winch somebody out of a tricky situation or a muddy ditch. We have a nice wide loop on both ends with a little reinforcement sleeve that is stitched in place, so it's not going to slide around or rip off. That helps to increase the longevity and durability of that strap so it won't prematurely wear and the strap is doubled over and again stitched together to provide a little extra strength for the loop.Both ends are the same, so inside we'll have that same style loop and then there's going to be a little kind of stretchy sleeve here as another protective sleeve. This does slide along our strap. So if there's a place where you want to kind of keep it from rubbing up against your vehicle, or up against a bumper or something like that, you can place that strap over any of those edges to make sure that it doesn't cause any damage or rubbing.It's made of a durable, heavy duty polyester material. more

This makes it easy to hook up to any vehicle that you're trying to get towed out of a ditch, whether that's an ATV or a smaller truck or anything like that. We'll be able to easily hook onto it with one of our hooks and then pull it out to our recovery vehicle and get that attached. The housing right here, it needs to kind of stay in the middle because as you pull on one end it'll push that length out. So this will sit right in the middle. Erickson Retractable Tow Strap Review- Video
Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Erickson Retractable Tow Strap, part number EM79201. This tow strap allows you to tow smaller disabled vehicles such as ATVs, UTVs, or golf carts as seen here. Some customers have reported that this strap works really well for towing your race car around at the track. It's retractable with a spring-loaded recoil system. It pulls the slack back in automatically and keeps it tightly wound. As you can see here, you'll never have to worry about dragging or running over your tow strap again. The strap is a one and a quarter inches wide by fifteen feet long and it features a four thousand pound towing capacity. Keep in mind that this strap is not to be used for recovery of disabled vehicles out of mud or a ditch. more

Today we're going to be taking a look at the inch by 15-foot Erickson Recovery Tow Strap with reinforced loop ends, part number EM59350. The Recovery Tow Strap features nylon-reinforced sewn ends that's going to help reduce wear and tear over time, and also makes it easy to hook on to a tow hook to pull out our vehicle. On one end it features an elastic strap so when we're done with the job we can roll it up and keep it contained. The strap is 15 foot long. It's an inch wide. The webbing strength of this tow strap is rated at 10,000 pounds per inch of width. It also has a break strength of 7,500 pounds. We'll be using our Recovery Tow Strap on our UTV here today. more
