When it comes to flat towing any vehicle, there's gonna be five main components that are gonna be required. Now you may have a few auxiliary things that you're gonna want to add in, but these are gonna cover at least safely getting your vehicle down the road. And starting on the vehicle side, we have our base plate and this is gonna attach to the frame of the vehicle and create the structural mounting point for the rest of the components. And that's where our tow bar is gonna hook up to the arms. The tow bar is gonna be the physical connection between the hitch on the RV and the base plate on your towed vehicle. more

Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we have a 2021 Chevrolet Blazer, and we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you how to install the Roadmaster diode wiring kit. Adding diode wiring to your blazer is going to help you to transfer the lighting signals from your motor home to the back of your blazer whenever you're flat towing. Now some other options that you have for lighting whenever you're flat towing your vehicle are going to be magnetic lights, which can kind of be a hassle to set up because you have to run a 4-pole from the back of your vehicle all the way up to the front every single time you wanna flat tow. And then you have to find a place to store those whenever you're not using 'em. So I really don't care for those, especially with newer vehicles having aluminum panels on the vehicle, you can't stick the magnets to those so you're gonna have to have- find a different place to be able to mount those up. more

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at installing the Roadmaster Diode Wiring Kit on a 2021 Toyota Tacoma. Now there's five main components that are required for flat towing any vehicle, and we'll break those down. The first one is gonna be the base plate, and that's gonna structurally mount to the frame of the vehicle and create a mounting point, not only for your tow bar but the rest of the components. So our tow bar is going to be the connecting point between the base plate and the hitch on the RV. And also, going from the base plate to the hitch, is gonna be our safety cable. So just like you'd hook up to a trailer, you wanna make sure you have those cables in place, just in case of that disconnect. more

Hello, neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at installing the Demco Diode Wiring Kit on a 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500. There's five required components when flat towing any vehicle, and on our Chevy 1500 today, we'll start by taking a look at the base plate, and the base plate is gonna mount to where the factory tow hooks were or structurally to the frame of the vehicle, creating a mounting point for the rest of your components, and also your tow bar. Tow bar is your second component, and that is connecting point between the base plate and the hitch on the RV. Now just like a trailer, we have our safety cables here that'll attach to the tabs on the base plate that are gonna be your safety chain loops, and then you'll just attach those to the safety chain loops on your RV. We also have our diode wiring, which is gonna transmit the light signals from the RV to the taillights on the towed vehicle, keeping you safe and legal. more

Hello, neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today, we're taking a look at installing the Roadmaster Diode Wiring on a 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK. Diode wiring is definitely becoming the normal trend when it comes to flat towing vehicles. The other alternatives are going to be magnetic lights, which those work fine, but the problem is these newer vehicles, and especially Jeeps, a lot of 'em aren't magnetic. So you're not gonna be able to have those be able to stick on there, and then you're still having to drape that wire every time you want to hook up and then you have to store them. Where diodes, once you have 'em installed, you just plug in your umbilical and they're ready to go. Blue Ox Tow Bar Wiring Kit Review- Video
Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be checking out the Blue Ox Diode Wiring Kit. So when it comes to setting up a flat tow, you know, your wiring is gonna be a very important component, and it's gonna be responsible for transferring lighting functions from the back of your motor home to the back of your vehicle, and with a kit like this, it's going to provide you with all those necessary signals, your left turn, your right turn, your taillights, as well as your brake lights. There are a couple of different ways to achieve getting those signals back here, and a diode kit like this one is hands down my favorite way, and I say that because once they're installed it's super easy to set up, you know, essentially you're just gonna have to plug a cable in from the front of your vehicle into the back of your motor home, and you're good to go, right So, ease of use is definitely up there, and the reliability as well, you know, as long as you set everything up right, it's pretty rare that you run into any issues with diode wiring, like the Blue Ox for example, as compared to another way to get signals back here, say magnetic lighting for example, all right With those magnetic lights, the base is magnetic and will stick to the side of your vehicle, and in some cases it's not even possible, right A lot of these late model cars, the panels are starting to be made from aluminum, so that's one downside, and then you got something rubbing on your paint and stuff, it's just not ideal, at least in my opinion, I wouldn't like that, but not to mention you're gonna have to set 'em up every single time you wanna flat tow, and then take 'em off when you're done flat towing, so it definitely adds some time to the process, you know, running a wire up every time, and then not to mention too, but with those, you know, when you're over the road and whatnot and you're trying to store stuff, you know, by using diodes like this that stay with the vehicle, it's gonna be one less thing you're gonna have to worry about keeping track of. I mentioned that ease of use, and this is a perfect example on how it can be set up. Just take your cable, plug that end into the front of your towed vehicle, the other end will go into the back of your RV and that's it. more

Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we have a 2022 Jeep Gladiator and we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you how to install the Blue Ox Diode Wiring Kit for flat towing. Before we get into it, we're gonna talk about the five main components that are involved in a flat tow in order to safely do it behind your motor home. The first is gonna be your base plate which is going to mount on your vehicle. The second will be your tow bar, which connects the RV to the vehicle and you'll have your braking system, your supplemental braking system, which helps the vehicle stop behind the motor home so that the motor home doesn't have to do all the braking. You'll have your diode wiring which transfers the lighting signals from your motor home to the back of your vehicle. more

Roadmaster Universal Diode Wiring Kit Installation - 2023 Jeep Wrangler- Video
Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look and installing the Roadmaster Diode Wiring Kit on a 2023 Jeep Wrangler. Now depending on your needs, the diode kits are available in a few different configurations and really it comes down to what other accessories do you need to pick up. So you can get the kit with a 4 pole end, with no ends on it. You can also get it with an umbilical that is a straight cable, a coiled cable or a hybrid cable. And that's gonna be important if your tow bar, our Roadmaster has our umbilical, but you are gonna need to have that component to make sure that your flat tow system works. So getting it with your diode wiring might not be a bad time to group that all together. more

Now, when it comes to flat towing your Jeep there are five main components that are gonna be required and these are gonna be the basic components you need just to get your vehicle down the road. And the first one is gonna be the base plate. The base plate is gonna be attached to the frame of the vehicle and create our connection point to our tow bar.
