Today on our 2018 Dodge Ram 1500, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster taillight wiring kit for towed vehicles. Our wiring is going to be one of five major components needed to flat tow our Ram down the road. The other four are going to include our tow bar, a base plate, safety cables, as well as a braking system. The wiring kit is going to mirror the RV's lighting signals while we're flat towing our truck down the road to remain safe and legal. If you look, you can see our LED bulb inside of our taillight housing and even on a bright sunny day, they shine nice and bright.Now this wiring kit is a bulb and socket style, which does have some pros and some cons over some of the other types available. more

Now our high powered diode wiring kit is going to allow us to take the signals from our motor home and transfer them to our Ram so we can safely flat tow it and get all the signals we need. So everybody around us knows what's going on. Whenever you're looking to flat tow your Ram there are several different options of getting your lighting to the back here and transferring all the signals. One of those ways is the magnetic lights. We've all seen them, they work, but that's gonna cause us to have to set it up each time we want to tow. more

If you are flat towing your Ram, you will need some kind of tow bar wiring because we want to be able to accept the light signals from our motor home and transfer them to our Ram pickup. That way when we're going down the road, everybody knows what's going on. If we hit our brakes, put our turn signal on, or if it's dark out, we have our taillights on.Now when it comes to the wiring itself, we're going to have three basic types. We're going to have a bulb and socket kit, a diode kit, and the removable magnetic lights. Now each one of them is going to have its own benefit, so let's take a closer look.Our bulb and socket kit is going to completely bypass our vehicle's wiring because we're going to be adding a new separate bulb to our taillight housing. more
