Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we have a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 and we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you how to install the Roadmaster diode wiring kit. Adding diode wiring to your Sierra is gonna allow you to safely flat tow it when you're headed down the road. The purpose of adding diode wiring is very, very similar to trailer wiring. If you're pulling a trailer behind your truck, you've gotta have safe lights that are working on the backside of your trailer. That same goes for if you're pulling your Sierra behind your motor home. more

Rob here, etrailer.com. And today you're gonna be taking a look at all the components necessary to flat tow, your GMC Sierra 1500 down the road. There's gonna be a total of five components needed to flat tow. The first one is gonna be our baseplate. Now this is gonna be our secure connection point that's gonna attach directly to the frame on our truck, so that we can hook up our tow bar. Now the second component is gonna be our tow bar. more

Roadmaster Diode 7 to 6 Wire Coil Kit Installation - 2017 GMC Sierra 1500- Video
Today on our 2017 GMC Sierra, we're gonna be taking a look at, and show you how to install the Roadmaster diode seven wire to six wire flexo-coil wiring kit, part number RM-15267.This is what our wiring looks like when it's installed on our vehicle. You can see the six pole plug keeps a nice clean look on the front of the vehicle. It's going to have a spring loaded lid. On the inside of the lid, it's going to have a little lip that's going to sink right down inside of that circle, it's going to help keep any dirt and debris from getting in on our connections. This is going to give us the connection point between our RV and our GMC to transfer all our light functions to our towed vehicle, and how it's going to do that is with our umbilical cord. Our umbilical cord, you can see it is coiled, this is going to help keep it from dragging the ground while we're traveling. more
