Roadmaster Tow Bar Wiring Kit Installation - 2018 Ford F-150

Today, in our 2018 Ford F150, you're gonna be taking a look at, and I'm gonna show you how to install, the Roadmaster diode wiring kit. This is what our plug looks like when it's installed. Once you get all your wires connected, and you have it mounted in the location you choose, you're gonna want to test it out and make sure everything's working properly. Our customer chose to have it here in the center, hidden out of the way, so when he puts his license plate on, all this is covered up. This bracket here, I actually made this so I can sit all of our other components on it.If you have the active air dam, make sure if you mount it here, none of the wires are gonna get in the way of that closing and opening. Even if you choose to mount anything inside of here, the top of the air dam, there's a plastic guard that will have to be cut. You're not gonna be able to attach to that. more

Blue Ox Tow Bar Wiring Kit Installation - 2018 Ford F-150

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Ford F-150, we're going to be taking a look at, and I'm going to show you how to install, the Blue Ox Tow Bar Wiring Kit, part number BX8848.What the diode kit's going to do for you, is while your Ford is being flat-towed behind your RV traveling down the road, it's going to allow you to transfer all those signals from your RV into the Ford. When it's finished, you turn on your brake lights, your running lights, your turn signals, all those are going to transfer through to the vehicle while it's being flat-towed.Now the purpose of the diodes, is to protect the factory wiring on the Ford from any back feed from the RV. And vice versa it's going to protect the RV wiring from any back feed from the Ford's wiring. As far as the installation goes, it is a pretty simple installation. You will need a light tester to test the wiring to figure out which wires are your brake wire, and your running lights, and turn signals. Other than that, all you're doing is transferring wires, running a wire from the back to the front.First thing we need to do to start our installation, is we're going to go ahead and get everything out of the package. You're going to get 12 foot of green and brown wire, and you're going to get your 4-pole wire that's going to route to the front of the vehicle. more

To complete a flat tow setup, you're gonna need a base plate, wiring, braking system, safety cables, and a tow bar.Now what this is going to do, this is going to take the place of temporary lights that you'd mount on your roof, or on the side of your vehicle, or on the back of your vehicle, that take up a lot of space. You have to take them off every time, fold them up, find some place to store them. These are going to be mounted directly to the factory wiring in your vehicle. Not only are you going to be safe driving down the road and following the rules and laws, you also are going to be comfortable knowing that the factory wiring in your vehicle is not going to be damaged because of the diodes.
