Hey everybody, how's it going Today we're going to be going over and showing you how to install the Hopkins custom plug-in tail light wiring kit for flat towed vehicles here on a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox. So as you can see here, we don't have any extra lights hanging on the roof of the vehicle. If you're familiar with flat towing, chances are, you've seen those magnetic lights are used a lot on tow dollies as well. They stick to the top of the metal roof there. Then you have to run a wire all the way down the roof, over your windshield, into the motor home. And those certainly aren't ideal. more

Hi there, Equinox owners. Today we're going to be taking a look at the best flat tow options for your 2013 Chevrolet Equinox. There's five main components you'll need when flat towing your vehicle behind your motor home. You'll need your tow bar, which is the connection between your motor home and your vehicle, your safety cables, which is a supplemental connection in addition to your tow bar, your baseplate, which provides a connection point at the front of your vehicle, your diode wiring, which takes all the lighting signals from your motor home and transfers them to the lights at the back of your vehicle so people around you know your intentions when going down the road, and lastly your supplemental braking system, which will apply the brakes in your vehicle when you hit the brakes in your motor home to help it come to a safe stop.Our customers decided to use Blue Ox's baseplate, which is a great baseplate. But, however, I would recommend Roadmaster's direct-connect baseplate kit. I find that the Roadmaster baseplate just has a little bit cleaner installation and provides better connection points when mounting your hardware such as your electrical and breakaway switch.Our customer opted for Roadmaster's Falcon 2 tow bar. more
