Hi, John with etrailer. Hey, today we're taking a look at the Blue Ox Avail tow bar and it's on our 2020 Jeep Cherokee. Now, if you're new to flat towing and you are interested in flat towing, then of course the base plate is just gonna be one of five things that you actually need to be able to flat tow. Now this setup right here, this is all hooked up and ready to go. So of course we'll start with the base plate. That's what we installed here. more

Blue Ox Ascent Non-Binding Tow Bar Installation - 2020 Jeep Cherokee- Video
Hi there, Jeep owners. Today on your 2020 Jeep Cherokee, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Blue Ox's Ascent Tow Bar.There's five main components you'll need when flat towing your vehicle behind your motor home. You'll need your tow bar, which is the connection between your motor home and your vehicle. You'll need your safety cables, which is a supplemental connection in addition to your tow bar. You'll also need your base plate, which provides the connection point on your vehicle for your tow bar to attach to. You'll need your diode wiring, which will take all the lighting signals from your motor home, transfer them to your vehicle and illuminate the lights at the back of the vehicle so people know your intentions when going down the road.And last, you'll need your supplemental braking system, which will apply the brakes in our vehicle when we hit the brakes in our motor home to help us come to a safe stop. more

So we're going to need five main components to flat tow our Cherokee down the road. We're going to need our base plate, which that's going to give us that solid and reliable connection point to hook up our tow bar to. A tow bar is going to be another component. One end is going to hook up to the front of our Jeep and the other end is going to hook up to the back of a motor home. more
