Gate King Adjustable Truck Bed Extender Installation - 2023 Toyota Tacoma- Video
Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today, we're taking a look and installing the Gate King Tailgate Extender on a 2023 Toyota Tacoma. And this is gonna allow you to get your tailgate in multiple different spots and that way you can really get it custom fit to whatever you have in your bed. (tailgate clicking) And the great part is, is whenever you need to close it up, (tailgate clicking) it goes back to being a normal tailgate, so let's first take a look at why you might want one. If you haul an ATV or a dirt bike in your truck, sometimes you're gonna realize that maybe the truck bed isn't long enough to account for that, or if you're doing any household projects, you got a ladder or two by fours, whatever it may be, a lot of times you're gonna have that shooting up over the tailgate, which is totally fine, but if you have a camper shell or a tonneau cover, you can run into some issues there and that's where having a little bit of adjustability from the tailgate is gonna allow for that to drop down low enough to still be able to maintain that tonneau cover. We're gonna be putting a mid-height ladder rack on here and that really could be an issue with some taller or larger things, so having that tailgate to be able to drop down to really account for that is gonna be huge. And this, again, is super helpful with those dirt bikes and ATVs, obviously this wasn't a dirt bike, but similar concept where we are kind of hanging off to where we don't have a tailgate really holding anything in place, so this can act slightly like a wheel chock in a sense, 'cause as you raise this up, you're gonna at least have some back pressure against that rear tire to really keep it all nice and tight in place. more

So without a tailgate assist, we all know how they work. You know, once you unlatch it they're going to drop down with speed unless you're steadily kind of helping it come down. This works with the 4000 series from Stromberg Carlson, and basically this just kind of fills in that gap for your tailgate as it bows down to allow your fifth wheel to get hooked up, so that little dip in the tailgate leaves a gap. This fills the gap. It is made of a durable metal construction with a nice powder coat. So it's going to look like a factory tailgate, like in addition to that, you do have to make a little bit of modification to your louvered tailgate. more

Hey everyone, Shane here with etrailor.com. Today I have a 2019 GMC Sierra, and we're going to be installing Gate king's tailgate adjuster. Maybe you're like me, you use your truck for a lot of different things., For instance, carrying loads, where it sticks out past the tailgate and you have to have your tailgate down all the time, I've actually lost some loose items when carrying something like this, I've lost some loose items from the back of my truck, going down the highway. Well, there's a solution and that is the tailgate adjuster, it's going to allow you to adjust your tailgate in different positions, to help keep those items in the bed of your truck, keep you from losing them.As you can see here, this is going to work great for our longer loads, we're able to raise our tailgate up, kind of get the ladder up in the air rather than being in flat, potentially, maybe losing our ladder or anything else. This is also going to work great for your ATVs and your dirt bikes, you can use your tailgate as a wheel jump, so a lot of times when you put your dirt bike inside, the tire is going to stick out past the end of your bed just a little bit, you take your tailgate with the adjustment on it, lock it up against your back tire and it's going to keep your dirt bike from or four wheeler for that matter, from moving forward and backward in the bed of your truck while you're traveling.Another nice thing that I really like about this, as you can see with our tailgate up or ladder in place, maybe you have surf boards, are going to work basically the same way as we have our ladder here, you raised your tailgate up. Another thing that I really like about this set up is we're still able to use our tonneau cover, this being able to use our tonneau cover like this is going to help secure or better secure items up there towards the cab of that truck even with our tailgate, partially open.As I mentioned, we're going to have eight different locking positions. more

Hey guys, it's Jake here with eTrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at the DeeZee tailgate assist. What this is going to do is it's going to take the weight of your tailgate and slow it down and actually take the weight away from you and just allow the tailgate to slowly set down.We've all had those times when we are trying to open up the tailgate while carrying something and you can't hold the whole weight of the tailgate with one hand. Now you can see how much easier it is to open that tailgate and just let it drop and let the piston take the weight while you're still holding whatever you're holding. It's going to have a very low profile and non-invasive design, which is going to look really, really good when you close up your tailgate and you can't see it at all.When your lifting your tailgate into place it's going to have no resistance of when you're putting your tailgate back into closed position, but then when you see when you drop it it's going to take that weight and rest it easy.As you can see here, we do have a little bit of wear on the rubber coating on our cable and what will happen over time, that cable will begin to rust and if someone we're to drop your tailgate full force you could risk breaking those cables. This tailgate assist is not only going to make it easier to lower your tailgate, but it's also going to prolong the longevity of your cables on your tailgate.Now I'll go ahead and show you how to get everything installed. more

Hey guys. Today we're going to take a look at the Stromberg Carlson 100 Series 5th Wheel Tailgate. Now this is going to be a direct replacement for your factory tailgate for most of your late eighties to early nineties Ford model trucks. Now this is a vented tailgate so it's going to give you better vision for when you're driving or backing up, and it's also going to improve your gas mileage. While this cutout is also going to be good for loading any 5th wheel or gooseneck trailers so you won't have to lower the tailgate to get those loaded.Now if you got to tailgate that's broken or damaged or you just don't want to mess with it anymore, a lot of times with these older trucks they'll just be very outdated and just very weathered down. Today, our 2018 Ford F150 we're gonna be taking a look at, the DZ tailgate assist custom tailgate lowering system, part number DZ 43204. A common problem with trucks is whenever you go to open the tailgate, especially it you have something in your hands, you'll open it up and the tailgate wants to slam down and either have to let it slam or guide it down all while we're trying to hold everything in our hands.For their tailgate assist we're not gonna have to worry about holding our tailgate, we can simply open it up, it'll come down nice and slow so we don't have to worry about any damage. Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 Ram 2500, we're gonna be installing Stromberg-Carlson's 100 series fifth wheel tailgate, part number VGD-10-100.Now this is what your tailgate's gonna look like when it's installed. As you can see it still matches the curves of the body of your vehicle. It will allow you to use a goose neck and still keep all of your cargo secure in the back of the bed of your truck. And when you're ready to load up the back of your truck, you'll want to push in on the tailgate to release some of the pressure, pull out on the release lever, and do the same on the other side. You can now lower it down and load up your cargo. Solid steel construction will make sure all of your cargo's nice and safe and it's got a black powder coat finish on it that will help prevent rust and corrosion. more

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the Hopkins EasyLift Truck Bed Tailgate Lift Assist, part number 74211. Whenever we go to get in the back of our truck, opening and closing the tailgate can be a hassle, especially on a truck like this where it's all steel. This can be extremely heavy. With our Lift Assist, not only is it going to help lower it down, but the real benefit we're going to get out of it is when we go to close it. What used to be a two-handed job where we might have to even bend over a little bit to get enough oomph to lift it up, I can lift this tailgate with two fingers, and it feels like there's almost nothing there.Now, our Lift Assist is going to accomplish that because it's going to use this torsion bar. Whenever it's opened, it's going to be under pressure, so when we go to lift it up, it's going to relieve that pressure and start to relax, making it a lot easier for us to lift it up. more

This is going to be an economical solution for someone who uses their fifth wheel all the time. This way you've got full access to your fifth wheel while your trailer's hooked up, and you don't need to worry about coming into contact with your tailgate.Now, there are releases for the latches here, so you can still open your tailgate if you need to. Pull each one individually, and it will lay down and rest on your bumper. Now, if you want, you can drill a hole and reattach your original cable. It comes with a black primed finish, which already looks great with our black truck here but can be painted to match any color truck.The large opening at the top of your tailgate is going to measure about 34 inches, and the opening at the middle of the tailgate is going to be about 14-1/4 inches. more

When we want to hook up to our Gooseneck or our fifth-wheel trailer, in most applications, we won't have to worry about lowering the tailgate anymore. The open design of our tailgate helps improve vision out of the back window, so when we're backing up our truck, we have increased safety to see what's behind us.You'll notice how nicely it follows the contours of our bed and the taillight on our truck. This gives us a factory-like appearance on our tailgate.
