Hey guys, Kevin here, etrailer. Today I'll be showing you how to install the Smart Plug Power Inlet and Cord here on our Starcraft Homestead 5th Wheel Trailer. So our neighbor today wanted to upgrade from his old pull-out RV power cord up to something a little bit better. There are a few options when it comes to that, typically what you're gonna see on most campers is that twist-lock, so the issue with the twist-lock is the prongs really just aren't big enough and they don't provide as much of a secure connection onto your power cord. So you end up having a lot of heat generating on that and what can happen, is that it can burn out that inlet and then 'cause a fire inside of your camper. One of the really nice things about our Smart Plug cord is that it has this LED indicator light here, as you can see it's blue, that indicates that power is flowing correctly, from our shore power source. more

SmartPlug RV Power Cord and Black Inlet Review and Installation- Video
Hey guys, Kevin here with etrailer. And today I'm gonna be showing you how to install the SmartPlug, 30 amp inlet and power cord kit that comes in black, white, or chrome. So this kit is gonna come with your inlet and your power cord. The power cord itself comes with a protective cover as well but when it's not in use, the best part about this cable here in inlet, is that it takes all the weight off of the pins like you would normally have with your other standard RV power cords, and puts it onto the base itself of the inlet and the power cord. So that as time goes on, you're not slowly bending down your pins. Another thing with this is, that it has these clamps on the side, they hold it in place, and that way if you accidentally bump this, hit this, something else happens. more

Mighty Cord Twist Lock RV Power Cord Review- Video
Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today we'll be taking a look at our Mighty Cord RV Power Cord, this has a twist-lock and it's a 30 amp cord. So a lot of our trailers here at etrailer are 30 amp trailers, which means they need 30 amp extension cords. In the case of our Mantis here, it actually has a twist-lock plug, and that's where this cord comes in. You pop that into your trailer, and then you have up to 25 feet of extension, depending on which cord you get, and that's gonna help you get connected to your power source and keep your trailer charged. So this has a 90 degree plug, and that's really just the style of the plug right over here, you can also get the exact same extension cord, but in a straight plug style, where it doesn't go down 90 degrees, it's really up to you and your situation, they work the exact same way. This 90 degree angle though is just more ideal if you have a tight fit or need to fit into tight spaces. more

This is going to be a great kit to upgrade your current 30 amp 125 volts power inlet and cord. So this is going to allow you to take advantage of all the benefits of the smart plug system when your plugging your RV into your shore power. This is extremely easy to install, your inlet, matching flange, it's going to have holes that match up with the standard twist-type holes that you probably already have on your RV, so it's going to be very easy to get this wired up and put in place. And then your 30 foot long power cord is going to plug right into the standard 30 amp electrical box it does have this little handle that pulls out here so you can more easily remove it from that electrical box. On the female side, we do have a LED that's going to indicate when you're plugged into shore power to ensure that all your connections are working properly. more

Today we're going to take a look at this Epicord 30-foot long RV power cord with the handle as the 30 amp male plug to the 30 amp twist lock female connector. Now this RV power cord measures 30 feet long and allows you to connect your RV to an electrical hookup at an RV park. It has the 30 amp male connector right here on this end, and as we mentioned on this end is the 30 amp female connector. If you notice on the female end it has this nice twist-lock molded connector, offers a nice tight secure connection point, so once you do plug it in, twist it to plug it in, and then you just use the ring here to tighten it down and hold it into place.If you notice each connector has this nice easy grip design. You can see on the female end it has the pistol grip handle design that makes it easy to hold to insert and to remove. more

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Mighty Cord Power Cord Extension.Let's say we get to a campsite and we go to pull our cord out, but it's not long enough to get to the outlet we need to get the power for our trailer. Now, what we have to do is we have to move our trailer to get it closer to that plug. That's where our 25 foot extension comes into play.Once we get our camper set up, it's not going to matter. You can plug it directly into our 30 amp circuit coming in or 30 amp plug coming out of our RV and it's going to have the male end 30 amp at the other. It's going to have this 90 degree turn, so you can see here on our other type of plug the wire is just going to free hang from the edge of our camper, putting pressure on the inside plug here, potentially causing damage and on the end of our wire, it could pull our wires loose and cause a short on the inside of our plug.With these traditional plugs you've got to get a pretty good grip on them to turn them and kind of wiggle them out of your camper to get them out. With this new style handle, it's a pistol grip style handle so you can just take it, slide it in, and twist it. Then you'll take that threaded collar and twist it on.So, you can see here the prime example of our cord hanging straight down rather than pulling at an angle on our plug. So, along with the convenient handle on the RV side of the plug, on your male side, it's also going to have these nice three holes so that you can put your fingers in it to be able to get a good grip to pull that 50 amp out of the plug at the campsite.With these older style plugs they don't have a handle on the back. more
