Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at the Blue Ox adjustable receiver drop hitch adapter. Now this is gonna be a great option for those of you that flat tow your vehicle 'cause that's what this is designed for. And when flat towing your vehicle, it's imperative that you keep the height of your receiver and the base plate within a three inch range. And a lot of times once you get everything hooked up, tow bar's not at a good angle, and then you're left finding a rise or a drop. Well, the great part about this is it's completely adjustable so you can get it fine tuned to whatever vehicle you may have, or if you change your vehicles, you'll have this ready to go to adjust that for it. Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at the Blue Ox Adjustable drop height receiver. And this is gonna be a great option for any of you that are flat towing your vehicle with a two and a half inch hitch on your RV and you need to get a little bit of adjustment to get your tow bar up in line and nice and level with your vehicle. Now this is gonna allow you to have not only an eight inch rise like we have here, but also an eight inch drop and pretty well everything in between. Each pin is gonna be an inch adjustment as you drop down so you can really fine tune it exactly where you want it to go. And being a two and a half inch means that it's gonna be pretty heavy duty at coming in with a weight capacity of 15,000 pounds. So you have a two inch hitch but you have a inch and a quarter accessory for that hitch. Well, etrailer designed a couple of different reducers to reduce your two inch down to an inch and a quarter so you can use those accessories. This is a hollow accessory so we can use a anti-rattle device to go on the inside which is nice and a couple measurements for you. So the bigger hole is gonna be on the hitch receiver side from the center of that, to the edge it's gonna be two and a half inches. And then from the smaller hole to your accessory side right here is gonna be 1 and 9/16 inches. The distance between these two on center is three inches. more

Now, this reducer sleeve here will allow you to use a 2 1/2 inch hitch mounted accessory in your three-inch trailer hitch. Basically, this will bolt on to the shank of the 2 1/2 inch ball mount. etrailer Hitch Receiver Adapter Review- Video

So, you have a two inch hitch, but you have a 1 1/4" accessory for that hitch. Well, etrailer designed a couple of different reducers, to reduce your two inch down to 1 1/4" so you can use those accessories. All of our reducers are going to be a hollow shank, so we can put an anti-rattle device on the inside of there, if we wanted to. But this is the longest one of all of them. So, from the center of each hole the distance is seven inches, so that's the amount you're going to extend off, but you're also gonna reduce it as well. The distance from the center of the hitch-side hole to the edge is gonna be 2 3/8". more

etrailer Trailer Hitch Reducer And Extender Review- Video

It's always nice to be able to use your accessories for a two inch hitch on your 2 1/2 inch hitch. So what we have right here is an adapter, so it's gonna go in your 2 1/2 inch hitch and convert it to a two inch, so you can use those accessories, but this isn't just an adapter, it's also an extender. So to go over a couple different measurements here, the overall length of it is gonna be 12 inches, the distance between these two holes is gonna be seven inches, and then from each hole to the end is gonna be 2 1/2 and 2 1/2. So with any type of extension, we are going to cut the capacity of our hitch in half. Even though this hitch is rated for quite a lot of weight, we also have to take into consideration the weakest link of the whole entire setup, which in this case, on this truck, it's gonna be the extension, so it's gonna have a max tongue weight of 350 pounds. This isn't something that you're gonna wanna haul with, just because 350 pounds of tongue weight isn't a whole lot, but I guess if you did have a Malone lightweight aluminum trailer for your kayak or something, if the weights all line up, you can use it for something like that, but I really don't think that's exactly what this is for. more

etrailer 2-1/2 inch to 2 inch Trailer Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve Review- Video

So you have a 2 1/2 inch hitch receiver, but you have some two inch accessories you'd like to use like a bike rack or even maybe just a ball mount. Well, etrailer's got you covered, we designed a sleeve that is gonna help us convert it over from 2 1/2 to two inches, so you can use your favorite accessories. To make sure this is gonna work with your vehicle and your accessory, here are some measurements. Overall, the length is 5 1/2 inches, but then, on the longer side, from the center of the hitch pin hole to the receiver side right here, is gonna be three inches, then on the other side, from the center to the end, which is the accessory side, is gonna be 2 1/2 inches. I have noticed that it's a little bit easier to get everything all lined up if we just line it up on our accessory and then put these both in together. You just put it in just like any other accessory, but with a little bit more gentleness just to make sure that those holes continue to line up. more

So you got a new truck and it has a 3 inch hitch receiver but a lot of your accessories are either 2 1/2 inch or 2 inch. Well etrailer designed a sleeve so you can convert that 3 inch hitch receiver down to a 2 1/2 , or use them both together and convert it all the way down from 3 inches down to 2. To make sure that this is gonna work for you either the 2 1/2 sleeve or the 2 inch sleeve, the distance from your accessory to the center of its hitch pin hole, just make sure that it's around 2 1/2 inches, 'cause that's our measurement right here. And then from the hitch receiver side to the center of the hitch pin hole, it's gonna be 3 3/16 of an inch. So just make sure that you have enough room inside your hitch receiver so it doesn't hit your spare tire or anything like that. And the overall length of the whole entire thing, which is both sleeves, is about 6 5/16 of an inch. more
