Curt 24x60 Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2005 Ford F-150

Today on our 2005 Ford F150 we're test fitting the Curt Folding Cargo Carrier. Part number C18153. Designed to work with 2 inch hitches and has a 500 pound weight capacity on there. So the first thing we're going to do is take a few measurements here. Ground clearance is going to be about 18 and 3 quarter inches there. Overall, to the back of the truck, about 42 inches, and our closest point looks like it's going to be about 16 and a half inches there. Now we do have a good ground clearance here because of this raised shank in the back. That's going to lift that cargo carrier up higher than the ground there. Also go ahead and check out our exhaust, we do have a single passenger side exhaust here. more

Stromberg Carlson Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2005 Ford F-150

Today, on our 2005 Ford F-150, we're test fitting the Stromberg Carlson 23 by 60 Cargo Carrier, part number CC-100. It's going to be designed to work with 2-inch hitches and have a capacity to hold up to 500 pounds. For the first measurement, we're going to take the ground clearance here. From the bottom of this bolt, we're going to have about 14-1/2 inches in ground clearance here. Overall to the truck, we're adding about 28 inches at the back and our closest point is going to be about 4-1/2 inches there. Now, on our truck, we do have a single passenger side exhaust, but with most trucks, it does come out to the side here, so you shouldn't have to worry about carrying any heat-sensitive materials on your cargo carrier. The last thing we'll check is going to be our hatch clearance, the tailgate overhang. We got about 13-3/4 inches of clearance there, but you're also covering about 13-3/4 inches of the carrier, so just be aware that if you do plan on stacking materials that very high on your carrier that you may come in contact with that tailgate at some point. Now we have a hitch-pinning clip holding in this cargo carrier, but the hitch-pinning clip is not included. more
