Saris MHS 2 Bike Rack Review - 2020 Toyota RAV4- Video

The Saris MHS is a unique system in and of itself, you're able to switch things around and move the trays quickly, even add on another extra tray in about 30 seconds. So if you're looking for a 2-bike platform rack, this might be above and beyond what you need, but if you're interested in the MHS system, we'll talk about those features, we'll talk about those specs, but we're gonna focus on our Toyota RAV4 today. Yakima FullTilt Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2020 Toyota RAV4- Video

How's it going, everyone Ethan with Etrailer here to show you the Yakima FullTilt Hanging Bike Rack on our 2020 Toyota RAV4. This rack will support five bikes up to 150 pounds total. So about 30 pounds per bike. One thing to consider is that it's probably not gonna be the best fit for alternative style and kids style bikes. And if you have a carbon frame bike, you probably wanna avoid any sort of use of this at all 'cause it's gonna be held solely on the frame here. Okay, so one thing that we're gonna note here is that once you take this anti-sway out of play, and I can't, it's not the easiest thing to get to in the world to be honest but once you get that out, you're gonna notice that the bike does move pretty good back and forth but gravity usually does its thing and holds those in place for the most part. more

Yakima Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2020 Toyota RAV4- Video

Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at the Yakima OnRamp on our 2020 Toyota RAV4. The OnRamp is a platform style bike rack. It's gonna hold the bikes in these trays and primarily by our frame up top. We have this cradle with a strap run around the frame to hold it in place as well as two wheel straps in the bottom that pull the bike down and in. The result is actually a really strong hold. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2020 Toyota RAV4- Video

Hi everyone, Aiden here with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at the Thule Helium Platform XT on our 2020 Toyota RAV4. The Helium's gonna be a platform style bike rack like the name suggests, it's gonna hold the bike in these trays and by our wheels. You've got a dual wheel mount design here holding the bike by each tire. That means zero frame contact, making it good for carbon frame and alternative frame bikes, and it does have a 45 pound weight capacity per bike, so not the best option for e-bikes. I think overall it works fairly okay on the RAV4, although there are some concerning fitment issues that we'll point out as the video goes on, but just know that kind of going into it. more

Hollywood Racks Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2020 Toyota RAV4- Video

Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination e-bike rack on our 2020 Toyota RAV4. Now, like the name suggests this is going to be a bike rack tailored towards e-bikes. It's got a 70 pound weight capacity per bike, so it's a little bit heavier, a little bit more than the typical 60 pounds you might see in a lot of other bike racks. So if you've got a heavier e-bike this might be a great way to go, plus it's gonna be really easy to operate, like we'll show you later in the video. It's gonna hold the bike in these trays with three straps at the bottom, but primarily with our frame clamp up top that just tightens down around the frame. more

Swagman Current 2 Electric Bikes Rack Review - 2020 Toyota RAV4- Video

How's it going everybody It's Ethan at etrailer here today to talk to you about the Swagman Current bike rack on our 2020 Toyota RAV4. The Current is a two bike platform style bike rack that holds onto our bike primarily by the frame hooks here and by a couple different secondary points of contact down at the bottom with our straps it's capable of supporting up to 60 pounds per bike. One of the things I like about this rack is the tilt away feature. Pulling up on this green knob lever in the back, tilt it down and that should give you plenty of clearance to access cargo hold in the back. As you can see, no real issues with that at all. Plenty of space to get in, change shoes, access anything that you might need from the cargo area and get back out. more

I really like the hooks themselves because they allow you for a wider range of bikes. They hold onto the tires themselves and not the frames which is really nice for alternative style bikes and if you want to avoid carbon fiber bike damage. The rack itself is capable of supporting up to 60 pounds per bike. more

Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Rack Review - 2020 Toyota RAV4- Video

How's it going, everyone Ethan from etrailer here, and today, we're gonna be taking a look at our Kuat Transfer on our 2020 Toyota RAV 4. The Transfer is a two-bike platform rack, capable of supporting up to 40 pounds per bike, primarily held here by our wheel hooks and one other strap in the back. I like the wheel hooks themselves, as they avoid any sort of frame contact. For example, with our carbon frame bike here, it's just nice to know that there's not gonna be any damages with that, as you're bumping along on the road. And in general, I think it's a pretty solid hold. Another great feature of the Transfer here, if you lift this hook away, you can use your foot actually to access this pedal. more

The Sport Rider SE is a two-bike platform bike rack, capable of supporting bikes up to 80 pounds each, held primarily by these frame hooks, and a couple of straps on either wheel. The frame hooks do hold the bike, like I mentioned, primarily by the frame itself. So if that's something that's important to you or if you have a carbon frame bike, you're probably gonna wanna avoid this type of rack, just 'cause it could potentially damage the frame while you're driving. It holds a bike in these wheel hoops and primarily by our frame up here using our frame hook. Now because it uses a frame hook, we do wanna be cautious of carbon frame bikes and probably avoid using those, because frame contact can damage it. And then with alternative frame bikes, you don't have a good solid attachment point up top, so you probably are gonna need a bike adapter bar to make sure that you're getting solid contact with the bike. more

Swagman RV and Camper Bike Racks Review - 2020 Toyota RAV4- Video

Evangeline: Hi, it's Evangeline from etrailer.com, and today we are looking at the Swagman XC2 bike platform style rack here on our 2020 Toyota Rav4. So this is a great option if you want a platform style rack with all the essential features and you don't want to have to pay extra for those extra bells and whistles that you may not need. The way our bike is mounted to this rack here is by these wheel loops at the bottom and a frame mount. So if you look at the wheel loops, they can accommodate bike tire width of 3 1/2 inches, and you can loosen this and move it back and forth to accommodate bikes that are longer or shorter wheel bases.This has a frame mount up here, so if you want to dismount your bike. What I like to do is actually take off the frame mounts completely, just so that I don't have to lift the bike over the mast. So with this frame mount off, I can then just lower it by releasing this pin at the bottom right there. more

In fact, this tire mount is a pretty good idea if you have a carbon fiber bike that you don't warp the frame in, or if you have a really nice paint finish that you don't want to scratch, this would be a good idea. Now this bike rack is needed if you want to take two bikes out for a trip, so you and maybe your spouse's bike or your friend's bike, and with these adjustable wheel mounts, even your children's bike can fit onto this bike rack. And if you have a carbon fiber though bike, or with a custom paint finish, these have frame mounts. So these wouldn't be that best of an option for that. But if you're not worried about that, and you just want to take your two bikes out, if they have fenders, this is great, and we'll keep everything securely in place. Extra securely with these. more

It's going to be a wheel mount design, so it works out great for carbon fiber bikes like we have here today. But it has a really high capacity at 60 pounds, so you can even get some of those electric bikes on there. One thing I would recommend with electric bikes, is take that battery off if possible, you'll save weight, but also you'll save some of the stress that gets put on those batteries as you're going down the road.Now I prefer wheel mount styles, but sometimes those wheel mount styles aren't practical if you have fenders on your bike, so you may want to look at something like a frame mount design. more

I also just look at looks and style and also functionality of it as well, but this is really niche towards your road bikes or your mountain bikes and especially those carbon fiber frames or nice paint jobs that you may have in your frames. It's going to protect that because we have no frame contact, that's definitely a big plus for me. more
