Today on our 2015 Toyota RAV4, we're going to be test fitting the RockyMounts SplitRail 2-Bike Platform Rack, part number RKY1140. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look, and show off some of the features. The first feature I'd like to show off is the fact that it can tilt away from the vehicle with the bike still attached. To do that, there is a handle underneath the front here. Pull forward on it, holding on to the bike rack as you do so, and letting it come down. more

Today on our 2015 Toyota RAV4, we've got out the Swagman Dispatch here and we're doing a test fit on it just see the space we've got between it and our vehicle. Now this is a 2 bike platform style rack. It's been designed for use in 2 inch hitches. The part number on it is S64684. As you can see, the dispatch is going to use 2 wheel cradles, one for the front, one for the rear, and also a frame hook to hold our bike in place as we head down the road. It simply just pushes down, secures around the frame. more

Today on our 2015 Toyota Rav4, we're doing a test fit of the Softride Element Parallelogram tilting bike rack, part number SR26248. Now, one of the key features we want to go over is the tilt-away feature because you can tilt it away with your bike on the rack. We're going to come down here and pull on this black T-pin and tilt that rack away. It will give us full access to that back hatch of your vehicle so you can get anything in or out that you may need and there's still enough room that you can stand between the rack and the vehicle itself. Close that up. Then to put it back in place, you just lift up on the rack. more

Saris Thelma Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Toyota RAV4

Today on our 2015 Toyota RAV4, we have our Saris Thelma 3 Bike Platform Rack, Part Number SA4239B. On this particular model, we have two straps holding our wheels on, so to remove our bike I'll push in on this, pull our strap out and then repeat the same process over here. It's a good idea to hold onto your bike while you're doing this so that it doesn't fall over. When you want to push this down, you flip the lever forward and hold it down. I always put the straps back in so we don't lose or damage them. Now, let's get some measurements. This particular rack is going to add about 37" to the length of our vehicle. We have, at our lowest point, about 15" clearance down here. more

Today on our 2015 Toyota RAV4, we have our Saris Freedom SuperClamp 2 Bike Platform Rack, Part Number SA4025. We have our bike set up on it already. We've got two wheel hooks and one strap. To take it off, come down here to our strap, push in on the release, and pull out the strap. Come back up here. Now you want to hold onto the bike while you're doing this, but you can move your hooks up out of the way to release your bike. Put that out of the way and get some measurements. Now it is a good idea to always put your straps back away so they don't get damaged. more

Pro Series  Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Toyota RAV4

Today on our 2015 Toyota Rav-4, we're doing a test fit of the Pro Series Q-Slot Platform Style 4 bike rack. Now, this bike rack is also designed as a 2 bike rack and we'll go over some of those features a bit later. The first thing we're going to do is check out our bike and how it's strapped down to the rack. We've got our hook and loop straps back here. We just simply pull off and remove through the hoop down here, or the loop. Now, with our frame hook up top, that's just going to secure the bike down into those wheel cradles. To release those, we just turn the knob and then turn it the other way to secure it. Then, we can just lift our bike off and set it off to the side. Now, we just want to make sure that we reconnect our straps so we don't lose any of them. more

Now, we do come in contact with the ground back here, but as long as you're careful, you won't damage your bike rack too much. more

Today on our 2015 Toyota Rav 4, we're going to be doing a test fit of the Yakima Full Tilt. This is going to be your hanging style, four bike rack, part number Y02462. As you can see we've already got a bike up here, it's in place so you can see what it's going to look like once you have it on your vehicle, fully assembled, and installed. Note that this rack does come with your 1 1/4" shank as well as a 2" adapter so it will fit your class 1, 2, and 3 hitches. Just keep in mind that you're only going to be able to carry up to two bikes maximum with your class 1 receivers. Let's start off by getting a few measurements. more

As you can see, we've already got a bike on our platform here, on the cradle arms and installed so you can see what it's going to look like once you have it fully put together and on your vehicle. Let's start off by getting a few measurements. Our closet distance will be our first measurement. It's going to be down here from the t-handle to the back side of the bumper, at about 5 1/4 inches. Overall distance that we've added to the vehicle will be from the rear of the bumper to the back side of the cradle arms, at about 35 inches. more

Today on our 2015 Toyota RAV4 we're going to be doing a test fit of the CURT Premium 4. This is going to be your hanging-style 4-bike rack, part number C18064. As you can see, we've already got our bike up here on our bike rack fully assembled and in place so you can see what it would look like once you have it on your vehicle. Let's go ahead and start off by getting a few measurements. Our closest distance will be first. That's going to be from the front side here with the t-handle to the backside of the bumper at about 5-3/4". Overall distance that we've added to the vehicle from the rear of the bumper to the back of the cradle arms will be about 35", and our ground clearance at about 10-3/8". Up top we'll talk about the straps that secure the bike to the platform. more
