Saris Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee- Video
Colin: Hey guys, Colin here at etrailer. Today, we have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and we're going to do a test fit of the Saris SuperClamp EX two bike platform rack and cargo carrier. Now, this is a pretty unique setup. We're going to have a two bike platform rack on the back of our rack. While on the front, we have a cargo carrier, and that's going to be able to haul any excess equipment on the outside of our vehicle, if you've got bike equipment you don't want on the inside, muddy equipment from the end of the day or even coolers, stuff like that.Now, as far as the cargo carrier, if we look at inside dimensions on it, we're going to have 42 and a quarter inches on the inside rails. There's a slight rise right there, so you will have to make sure that it gets on lower on the inside of those rails when you're stacking cargo. more

This is a hanging-style rack that allows you to transport four bikes to and from your destination. It's going to have very nice spacing between the bikes that's going to help prevent a lot of bike-to-bike contact. Each bike is going to be held in at three different points. Today, we have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and we're gonna be test fitting the Kuat 2.0 two bike platform rack, which is part number NV22B. This bike rack is very high quality. It's gonna allow you to transport up to two bikes to your destination.It's gonna securely hold your bikes with no frame contact. You can see, it doesn't grip the frame at all, so you don't have to worry about any type of scratches or abrasions. Its two points of contact are gonna be up here on this wheel hook, putting downward force on top of our front wheel, forcing it down into the cradle.Then, on the back we're gonna have this strap that's pulling down on the back wheel, forcing it down onto this platform. One feature I want to point out next is just like a lot of other platform racks. more

Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee NV22B-NA22B- Video
Today we have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and we're gonna be doing a test fit on the Kuat NV 2.0 4-Bike Platform Rack. Which is part number NV22B-NA22B.It's a very high quality endurable bike rack, it's gonna hold your bikes very well, and it's gonna hold up to the elements as well. The black power coat finish is gonna hold up the rust and corrosion, along with the aluminum construction. It can carry up to four bikes, each weighing up to 60 lbs, so it's gonna be able to accommodate even if you have an electric bike, or even a fat tire bike.It holds your bike in two different spots. We have a strap on the back wheel right here, you can see the wheel, it's just sitting on the platform, and the strap secures it. On the front, we have the front wheel sitting inside the wheel tray right here, and the hook putting downward forward on top of the wheel, forcing it down into the tray.Another great feature, is that we can tilt this away from the vehicle, to give us access to the trunk. more

Today on our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we're going to be doing a test fit on the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE 4-Bike Rack for Fat Bikes. That's part number HR1400-FB. So, I've already got it loaded up just to give you an idea of what it looks like and how it's going to hold our bikes. Now not only does it hold fat bikes, but it's going to hold your standard bikes as well. So, you're going to get a set of cradles that'll hold both bikes.Right away, one of its best features is it can be tilted away, excuse me, from the vehicle with bikes loaded so it can access that rear hatch. Now how you do that is you remove the snapper pin here and you can kind of lift up on the rear-end of the bike rack to pull that out. more

Today on our 2014 Jeep Gand Cherokee, we're going to be doing a test fit on the Hollywood Racks Trail Rider platform style two bike rack. That's part number HR200Z. I've already got it loaded up just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it secures our bikes. It actually secures our bikes by their frame. We've got a rubberized frame hook that goes over that top tube, puts down pressure into those cradles, and then a hook and loop strap keeps our wheels in place. Now, this bike rack doesn't tilt away like most platform style racks, so if you wanted to get into that rear hatch, you'll want to be sure that you arrange your pedals just the right way so we can do that. more

Today on our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we're going to do a test fit on the Swagman XTC2. This is a platform style 2-bike rack. As you can see, it folds up nice and compact for easy storage. It's designed for use with a 1-1/4 inch or 2 inch hitches. Part number on it is S64670. Now to begin our test fit, we'll just slide the shank of the rack right into the receiver tube of the hitch. Speaker 1: Today on our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we're going to be test-fitting the Swagman Semi 2.0 two bike platform rack for inch and a quarter and 2 inch hitches, part number S64686. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's take a closer look and show off some of the features. How the bike is attached to the rack, we're going to have two points of contact with no frame contact at all.Instead, we'll have a wheel hook up at the front, and this does have an integrated cable lock on it which can wrap around the frame of your bike and prevent theft.And at the rear, we have this wheel strap, which is adjustable, the length of this portion here, to accommodate bikes of different sizes. Like with many platform-style bike racks, this can tilt away from the vehicle with both bikes still attached by coming up to the center here and pulling up and letting it tilt towards you.Now, with two bikes on here, it can be a little bit trying to get to that point, so you may need an extra set of hands to help you do this. With that tilted away, now we have full access to our rear hatch to get what we need, and we do have plenty of space in between the vehicle itself and the bike rack to do so. more

Here in the center, we're going to have a blue lever, that is going to be a little difficult to reach, but easier than some bike racks. We're going to pull out on that, and we can tilt our bike rack away from our vehicle with our bikes full loaded. In this position, we are going to gain full access into our back hatch area to get anything in or out that we may need. We don't have to worry about taking our bike rack or our bikes off of our vehicle just to gain that access. You'll see there's plenty of room to stand in between our bike rack and our vehicle as well. more

It secures our bikes in three locations; there is no frame contact. We've got two wheel straps for our wheels, and then we have a wheel hook going over our front wheel, putting down pressure into the front wheel cradle. One of its best features is, though, it has the ability to tilt away from our vehicle so we can gain access to our rear hatch. We'll simply reach through, lift up on the lever, and then tilt it away. As you can see, we're going to have more than enough room to remove any cargo, gear, groceries, anything we might have with us on our trip. Now let's go ahead and remove our bike. more

Today on our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we're going to be doing a test fit on the Thule T2 Classic Platform Style Two-Bike Rack. That's part number TH9044. I've already got it loaded up on the Grand Cherokee just to give you a good idea what it looks like and how it's going to hold our bikes. One of the great things is that it actually holds our bikes with zero frame contact. We have the large wheel hook going over our front wheel putting down pressure to the front-wheel cradle, and then for our rear-wheel cradle we've got a strap going over that keeping everything in place. Now, this bike rack's also going to work with fat-tire bikes, so that's a really nice feature, that you can carry all kinds of bikes. One of its best features though is that it has the ability to tilt away so we can gain access to our rear hatch. The way that works is we're going to come down here. more

Up top here, we've got a padded frame hook, it's going to go over our top tube, put down pressure into the front and rear cradles. Then we've got a padded strap that goes over, keeping our wheels in place. Now, back up here at the frame hook, both of these are lockable, so we can prevent anyone from removing our bike. more

Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee B202-2- Video
Today on our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we're going to be doing a test fit on the Kuat Beta Hanging Style 2 bike rack. That's part number B202-2. I've already got it loaded up on the Grand Cherokee just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it's going to hold our 2 bikes. It actually holds our bikes in 3 points of contact. We have 2 straps for our top tube and then 1 for our seat post tube. The one for our seat post tube's going to help prevent sway in our bike while we're on the road, prevent bike to bike contact, as well as bike to vehicle contact. All in all, a nice bike rack to have to get your bikes from A to B. Let's go ahead and take our bike off, though. We'll press in on our little button here, just guide that strap out. One more thing I'd like to point out is you'll notice that the arms here are closer together than most hanging style bike racks. That's going to allow you to carry a wide variety of bikes regardless of their frame design. I'll take the bike off. more

I've already got it loaded up on the Grand Cherokee just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it's going to hold our bikes. It secures our bikes with 3 points of contact. Today in our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee we'll be doing a test fit on the CURT Hitch-Mounted Hanging Style 4 Bike Rack. That's part number C18030. I've already got it loaded up on the Grand Cherokee just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it's going to hold our 4 bikes. It actually holds our 4 bikes with 3 points of contact. We have 2 straps for our top tube here and then 1 strap for our seat-post tube. This one's going to be our anti-sway strap. more

RockyMounts Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee RKY1140- Video
Today in our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee we'll be doing a test fit on the rocky mounts split rail platform style 2 bike rack. That's part number RKY1140. I've already got it loaded up in the Grand Cherokee just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it secures our bikes. It actually secures our bikes with no frame contact. We've got two spots, we have this wheel hook going over our front wheel putting down pressure into the front wheel cradle and then we have this rear wheel strap, preventing our rear wheel from coming out of the platform. Right away you'll notice that it's an open design. We don't have to worry about dirt and debris collecting within the wheel tray here, it's just going to fall right through. more

Today on this 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we will be doing a test fit on the Yakima HoldUp platform-style 2 bike rack. That is part number Y02443. I've already got it loaded up on the Grand Cherokee just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it's going to work with our bikes. It actually secures our bikes in 2 spots. We have this wheel hook going over our front wheel putting down pressure into the front wheel cradle. Then we have this rear wheel strap going over our rear wheel keeping that in place. All in all, there was no frame contact with this bike rack. more

Today on our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we'll be doing a test fit on the Kuat NV 2.0 platform-style, two-bike rack. That's part number NV22G. Now it's also available as a four-bike rack, and that's part number NV22G-NA22G. If you have the two-bike rack and you just need the addition to make it a four-bike rack, that's part number NA22G. We have this tire hook going over our front tire, putting down pressure into the front cradle, and then we have our rear well cradle, with our rear wheel. All in all, no frame contact. One of the greatest features about this bike rack is that it has the ability to tilt away so we can gain better access to our rear hatch. more

Today on our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we'll be doing a test for the Swagman G10 Platform Style Tilting Two-Bike Rack. That's part number S64682. I've already got it loaded up on the Grand Cherokee just to give you a good idea of what it's going to look like. It secures our bike in three spots. We have our nice frame hook here going over our top tube, putting down pressure into our front and rear cradles. Then we have a strap going between our wheels, keeping everything in place. Now, one of the greatest features about this bike rack is it has the ability to tilt away so we can get into our rear hatch. We'll come over here to this black tab. more
