Inno Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Honda CR-V

Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 Honda CRV we're going to be testing the Inno Aero Light four-bike rack for 1-1/4 and 2-inch hitches. That's going to be part number INH640. As you can see, we do already have a bike installed, so we can take a look at some of the features. Now if we start from the outside and work our way in, we're going to have this integrated cable lock system that comes out from the base of our bike rack, like so, wraps around the frame of our bikes, and then it's simply inserted into that slot right there. You will get a set of keys with your bike rack. So when you want to unlock the cable, you simply just push up this little tab, you can insert your key in there, unlock your cable, and then unload your bikes. When we come to these cradles, we're going to see that they can pivot back and forth, and then that also go up and down on the bike rack to accommodate any spacing you might want between your bikes or different sized bike frames. These cradles are going to have a nice rubber coating on them which is going to help protect the frame of your bike from any type of scratches or abrasions during installation or travel. If we come and look at the bike itself, we're going to see it's secured at three different points of contact. more

As you can see, we do already have a bike installed, so let's take a look at some of the features. Now, if we look right here, we're going to see our wheel cradles for the front and rear of our bikes that do not pivot back and forth. However, if you loosen this bolt right here like so, you can slide it up and down or side to side on the rack in order to meet any specifications of length a bike might have. As you can see, these rubber straps come up and around and latch into here. And it also comes with a rubber spacer right here for any type of bikes that might be deep into the cradle and need that space right there to help keep it locked into the cradle, like our road bike we have installed. So if we look at the bike, we're going to see it's secured at three different points of contact. We're going to see a rubber strap with this rubber spacer, making sure that that wheel stays locked in there. more

Now we've all been in that situation whether we're out riding our bike or we just got done, and we need to get into the back of our hatch. That's one of the nice things about our bike rack. We come to this lever right behind our bike here, we lift up, and can actually tilt our bike down and away, and then we can gain access to the back of our hatch to get whatever we may need in or out. Then once we're done grabbing everything, we can close our hatch, and then simply rotate the bike back forward, and it will lock into position. Our bike is going to be secured at three places. We're going to have one strap on each wheel, as well as a frame hook here on top. more

Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Honda CR-V

Today on our 2015 Honda CRV, we're going to be doing a test fit of the Kuat Transfer Platform Style 3-bike rack. As you can see, we've already got our row bike up here so you can see and get a general idea of what it's going to look like once you have it fully assembled and your bike in place on the back of your vehicle. First thing we're going to do, let's go ahead and get a few measurements so you know your clearances and your tolerances as you're ready to get out on the road with your bike in place. Our closest distance will be our first measurement, from the back of the bumper to the front side of the rack, at about 6-1/8". Overall distance that we've added to our vehicle with it fully extended out in that platform position is going to be about 45-1/2" to the back side here. Ground clearance at the back looks like it's going to be about 21-1/4". Now granted you get 3 bikes on there and put a little bit more weight on there, that's going to vary a little bit, but those will give you general measurements when you're starting out. more

Today on our 2015 Honda CR-V we're test fitting the Kuat Transfer. This is a platform style 2-bike rack, it's been designed for use with 1-1/4" or 2" hitches, part number on it is TS02G. As you can see, the Transfer is a really nice platform style rack with aluminum construction. One of the things that really stood out to me was how lightweight it was, really easy to get up there in the car as opposed to some of your other platform style racks that can get really, really heavy. Right down here at the bottom you've got a grey lever. Flipping that in is going to allow us to tilt the rack away from our vehicle. even with our bikes loaded, gives us plenty of room to get this rear cargo hatch open and get stuff in or out of there that we're going to need. more

As you can see, our rack does have 1 1/4 inch shank, as well as a 2 inch adapter, so it is compatible with your class 1, 2, and 3 receivers. The one thing you're going to need to keep in mind though is, if you do plan on using it with your class 1 receiver, that you're only going to be able to carry up to 2 bikes. You're going to need to know the weight of those bikes and your hitches weight specifications. You're class 2 and 3 receiver will both be okay with carrying all 4. Let's go ahead and get a few measurements to start it off. Our closest distance is going to be from the front side here to the back side of the bumper at about 7 inches. more

Today on our 2015 Honda CRV we're going to be doing a test fit of the softride alumina parallelogram. This is going to be your hanging style Ford bike rack, part number SR26248. This rack is going to come with a 2 inch shank for your 2 inch receivers only and it's also going to attach using an anti-rattle bolt to help reduce the sway, rattle, and wobble. Let's go ahead and start off by getting a few measurements. Our closest distance will be our first measurement on the front side of the rack to the back side of the bumper at about 1-1/4 inches. Now do keep in mind this is on the furthest end setting and there is actually two bolt settings that you can place this one on so the other one will sit out further in case you have a mountain bike or something with longer handlebars. Our overall distance is going to be about 26-1/2 inches and our ground clearance is going to be about 12 and 3/8 inches. Now the nice thing about the soft ride element parallelogram, it is a hanging rack that allows you to tilt it with all your bikes on. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Honda CR-V TH9031XT

Today on our 2015 Honda CRV we're taking a look at the thule vertex swing. This is a swing away style for bike racks. It's been designed for use in two inch hitches, the part number on it is TH9031. Cool thing about the rack to start we're going to have a built in cable lock right up here in the mast. We can bring that in, plugs in right here in the back there's a small slot, then it's locked using a thule one key tumbler. When not in use we remove it and tuck it back down there in the mast until we need it later. Now probably the biggest thing you really want to see here is going to be the swing away option and how it works. more

Today on our 2015 Honda CRV, we're taking a look at the Thule Vertex. This is a folding and tilting Ford bike rack. They designed it so we can use it with both the 1 1/4 inch and with the 2 inch hitches. Part number on it is TH9029XT. One thing that I really like about the rack, we've got a built-in cable, goes back here and it locks with the Thule one-key style tumbler. Now if you've already got a bunch of Thule accessories, you can get a tumbler and key just like those, if you don't you can start your set with that one. Now when done, we just pull that out, shove it right down in the mast, and then we can get a look at how our bike's held into place here. We've got three cradle straps, two for the top frame tube and then also one for the anti-sway. more
