Hey, everybody, welcome to etrailer.com, I'm Bobby. And today we're taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination 4 bike rack carrier here on the back of our 2013 Ford Explorer. So this is gonna be an excellent way if we're looking to get a multitude of bikes, to our destination, whether we have, a family of four, or just a couple of friends we wanna take along with us on our trips. What's really awesome about this, we're gonna have a lot of versatility in this rack. Now, just taking a look at it, it is not the prettiest rack out there. I know a lot of people are on the shop, it's just not their favorite. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2013 Ford Explorer- Video
Ryan: Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer today on our 2013 Ford Explorer, we're going to be taking a look at the Thule camber bike rack. So the rack that we have here today holds up to a total of four bikes. But if you don't need to carry that many, there's also a two-bike version available as well. The way the rack works is really simple. We're going to have two straps here on the top tube and a strap right here. Now this is actually going to act as an anti-sway strap and that's going to help prevent that side to side movement. more

Thule Apex XT 4 Bike Rack Review - 2013 Ford Explorer- Video
Dustin: Dustin here at etrailer.com. Today on our 2013 Ford Explorer, we're gonna be taking a look at the Thule Apex ST4 Bike Rack. It's also available in a two bike version and a five bike version.Now Thule has had an Apex model before, but the ST, what they've done with it is, they've actually greatly increased the bike spacing here. So you've got more room to get four bikes on here. It's not gonna be such a hard fit with your handlebars and your pedals rocking into each other. It secures your bike similarly to most other hanging style racks by your top tube here. more

Hollywood Racks Traveler 5 Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2013 Ford Explorer- Video
Today on our 2013 Ford Explorer we'll be test fitting the Hollywood Racks Traveler hitch mounted five bike rack, part number HR9200. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the opening of the hitch. We'll thread in our anti rattle bolt and tighten it down using a wrench. With the bike rack secure we'll go over a couple of clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 14 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about 9 -3/4 inches, and we've added about 16 inches to the overall length of our Ford Explorer. We can now unscrew the black wheels on the upper left and right hand corner of the mast to swing out our dual arms. With the cradle arms out we've added about 40-1/2 inches to the overall length of our Ford Explorer. more

Today on our 2013 Ford Explorer, well be test fitting the Kuat NV Platform Style Aluminum Two Bike Rack, part number N101. Well begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the opening of the hitch. Well insert our pin through our pin holes and secure with the lock underside. We can then turn the black knob to engage the anti-rattle device. With the bike rack secured, well go over a few clearance of measurements to see how the two fit together. To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the carrier into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up the pin hole, and thread in our anti-rattle bolt. Now we'll go ahead and go over a few clearance measurements. We have a ground clearance of 14". The closest part of the carrier to the rear of the vehicle is about 2". When the bike carrier is in the folded position, we've added about 11" to the overall length of our vehicle. more

To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the carrier into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up the pin hole, and put in our pin. Then we'll move to the back of the shank, and use the hand knob to secure our bike rack to our vehicle and engage our anti-rattle device. Now we'll go ahead and go over a few clearance measurements. We have about 13" of ground clearance here at the rear of the carrier. The closest point of the carrier to the rear of the vehicle is about 5". more

We'll then use the hand knob here at the rear of the shank to secure our carrier to the vehicle and engage our anti-rattle device.Now we'll go ahead and go over a few clearance measurements. Here at the rear of the carrier we have a ground clearance of about 14 1/2 inches. The closest point of the carrier to the rear of the vehicle is about three and a half inches. more

Today on our 2013 Ford Explorer, well be test fitting the Thule Apex 4-Bike Carrier, part number TH9025.To begin our test fit, well slide the bike rack shank into the hitch and allow the integrated locking hitch pin to fall into place. Well then move to the anti-rattle knob where well tighten it down securing our bike rack to the vehicle. At this point well go ahead and give you a few measurements.From the closest point of the bike rack to the back of the vehicle it measures 2 inches. In our ground clearance here at the biker rack measures 14-1/2 inches. Well now go ahead and pull the hitch switch here at the bottom of the mast which will allow us to tilt the mast down where we can then open our cargo door. As you can see we can still gain access to the cargo area with this bike rack secured to the vehicle.Well now go ahead and pull the hitch switch here at the top of the mast which will allow us to bring out our dual arms. more

Softride Dura Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2013 Ford Explorer- Video
Today on our 2013 Ford Explorer well be test fitting the Softride Dura Parallelogram, part number SR26247.Now, to begin our test fit, well slide the bike rack shank into the hitch, line up the hitch pin hole and install and tighten down our anti-rattle bolt. With the bolt tight, our bike rack is secured to the vehicle.Well now go ahead and give you a few measurements. Our ground clearance here at the bike rack is 14 inches and from the closest point of the bike rack to the back of the vehicle is 2-3/4 inches.Well now go ahead and load our bike. Well undo the straps to expose the cradles. Well then place the bike into the cradles and wrap the straps around our top bar securing the bike to the bike rack.Now, a great feature of the Dura Parallelogram is its ability to tilt down with the bike loaded. Well pull the pin and tilt the mast down to allow access to the cargo area. more

Today on this 2013 Ford Explorer were going to test fit part number TH9029 from Thule, the Vertex Bike Carrier.Two things to know about this bike rack that it will work with 1-1/4 receiver hitches both Class I and Class II. However, with Class I receiver hitches, youre limited carrying just 2 bicycles. This also works with 2 inches receiver hitches which include spacer. Thats what well be working with today.To start of our test fit well go ahead and install a bike rack into the hitch and then tighten down the anti-rattle bolt then well get a variety of clearance measurements.From the bike rack to the bumper as the closest point will be about 4 inches. Ground clearance is about is about 13-3/4 inches or about the same as the hitch. Well go ahead and fold the arms and get the overall length. more

A few things about this bicycle rack: it will work with one-inch-and-a-quarter receiver hitches, both class one and class two; however, with class one receiver hitch you are limited to just two bicycles; this will also work with a two-inch receiver hitch, which also includes spacer. This will also work with 2-inch receiver hitches which includes spacer and thats what well be working with today.To start off with our test fit, well go ahead and take the biker back installed into the hitch and then tighten it down with the anti-rattle bolt and put the safety pin on the other side.Well go ahead and get some clearance measurements. From the bike rack to the bumper it will be about 8 inches. Ground clearance was at 16-3/4 inches.Now, well go ahead and get the overall length with the arms unfolded. more

Today on this 2013 Ford Explorer were going to do a test fit of part number 830901 from Sportrack.Two things to know about this bike rack that it will work with 1-1/4 receiver hitches both Class I and Class II. It has also worked with 2-inch receiver hitches with the included spacer and thats what were working with today. Well start off with the bike rack installed into the hitch and then we just got to install the anti-rattle bolt and put the pin on the other side.Now, go ahead and fold the bike rack and then well go ahead and get some clearance measurements. Clearance from the bike rack to the bumper should be about 9 inches. Well go ahead and put the center post down and check access to the back of the vehicle. That looks good.Now, we go ahead and try loading up a bike. more

One thing to know about this bicycle rack: they will work two-inch receiver hitches with the included spacer. And thats what well be working with today. Alright, from the bike rack to the bumper at its closest point is going to be about 8 inches, and overall length from the bumper will be about 25 inches. more
