In this position, you'll see we're going to gain full access into our back hatch area to get anything in or out that we may need. Today on our 2013 Ford Edge we'll be test fitting the Saris Thelma hitch mounted 3 Bike Rack for inch and a quarter inch, 2 inch hitches, part number SA4239B. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the opening of the hitch. After lining up our pin holes we'll thread in our anti-rattle bolt, tighten it down using a wrench, and then secure with a clip on the other side.With the bike rack secured we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. Closest part of the bike rack to the closet part of the vehicle is about 2 inches away and we've added about 12 and a 1/2 inches to the overall length of our Ford. 3We can now remove the gold pin at the base of the bike rack and fold down the platform. With the platform down we have about 15 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about 3 inches away and we've added about 36 inches to the overall length of our edge. With the platform down you can see that we do have access to the rear hatch. more

Today on our 2013 Ford Edge, we'll be test fitting the Softride Hang2 Hitch Mounted 2-Bike Rack, part number SR27041. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the opening of the hitch. After lining up the pin holes, we'll thread in our anti-rattle bolt, and tighten it down using the wrench. With the bike rack secured, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 11" of ground clearance. Closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about 2-3/4" away, and we've added about 21" to the overall length of our vehicle. To load up a bike, we'll need to remove the two silver pins at the top of the mast. This will allow us to swing the top bar of the bike rack out. When unfolding the top bar of the bike rack, you want to make sure that you keep a steady hold on it, as it could slide back and hit the back of your vehicle. After lining up the holes, we'll then re-insert the silver pin to secure it in place. more

With the bike rack secured, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 11 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle's about two inches away and we've added about 11 inches to the overall length of our Ford. We'll now go ahead and remove the two silver pins at the top of the mast. We'll swing the cradle arms outward and line up the pin holes to reinsert the sliver pins. more

You then secure the lock on the other side. With the bike rack secured, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 11 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about four and a half inches away and we've added about 13 inches to the overall length of our Ford. We can now lift up on the yellow levers on the upper left and right hand corner of the back rack. This allows us to slide the arms off the grooves, onto the smooth part and raise the cradle arms up. more

For today's test fit we'll be using the Hidden Hitch ball mount with an extra long shank, part number 80232. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the ball mount into the opening of the hitch. After securing it with a pin and clip we're ready to load up our bike. We'll remove the black pin at the top of the mast and swing out our dual arms. more

Today on our 2013 Ford Edge we'll be test fitting the SportRack Super EZ platform style two bike rack, part number SR2901LR. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the opening of the hitch. After threading in our anti rattle bolt we'll tighten it down with a wrench and secure it with a lock on the other side. With the bike rack secured, we'll go over a couple of clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 13-1/2 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about nine inches away, and we've added about 24 inches to the overall length of our vehicle. To access the rear hatch, we can pull the three black pins at the base of the bike rack and tilt the wheel cradles down as well as the mast. As you can see, we can easily gain access to the rear hatch. more

Today, on our 2013 Ford Edge, we'll be test fitting the Thule Apex Swing 4-Bike Carrier, Part Number TH9027. Now to begin our test fit, we'll simply slide the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, lineup our pinholes, allow the integrated hitch pin to fall into the hitch holes and turn the black knob to engage the anti-rattle device. Now, with our two-way Apex Swing secured to our Ford Edge, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how they fit together. We have about 13 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle here at the rear bumper is about three inches. With the cradle arms folded down, we've added about 11 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. We'll now pull the grey lever at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms out, and with the cradle arms out, we've added about 34 inches to the overall length of the vehicle.To load the bike, we'll undo the cradle straps, place the bike into the frame cradles and secure with the straps. To access the cargo area, we'll unscrew the black T-handle at the base of the carrier and then lift up on the black T-handle with a gold post. more

Closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle here at the rear bumper is about five inches. With the cradle arms folded down, we've added about 12 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. We'll now pull the grey lever at the top of the mast and with the cradle arms out, we've added about 36 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. To access the cargo area, we'll lift up the gray handle at the bottom of the carrier to tilt the mast down. This will allow us to have access to our cargo door. more

With our bolt tight, we can now go ahead and go over a few clearance measurements. We have a ground clearance of about 12-1/2". With the bike rack in its folded position, we've added about 19" to the overall length of our vehicle. Now we can go ahead and lift up on the liver at the bottom of the mast to take advantage of the tilt feature of this bike carrier. more

We have about 11 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle here at the rear bumper is about 4-1/2 inches. With the cradle arms folded down, weve added about ten inches to the overall length of the vehicle.Well now pull the red lever at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms out. With the cradle arms out, weve added an additional 34 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. more

With the platform folded up, theres about 11 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle here at the rear bumper is about three inches and weve added about ten inches to the overall length of the vehicle.Well now lift up on the grey lever at the base of the carrier to fold the platform down. With the platform folded down at the rear of the carrier, we have about 16 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle here at the rear bumper is about 2-1/2 inches, and weve added a total of about 30 inches to the overall length of the vehicle.Now with the platform folded down, you can see that we can easily have access to our vehicles cargo door. more

This will allow us to have access to our vehicle's cargo door. more

To begin our test fit we'll slide the shank of the carrier into the receiver tube of our hitch. Line up our hitch pin holes and thread in our anti-rattle bolt, securing it and tightening it with a wrench.Now we'll go ahead and go over a few clearance measurements. We have a ground clearance of 11-1/2 inches. With the bike rack in its folded position we've added about 14 inches to the overall length of our vehicle. If we pull the pin at the bottom of the mast to tilt down our bike carrier you can see that we can easily gain access to the cargo area of our vehicle.Now with our bike carrier back in the upright position we'll go ahead and loosen up the knobs to swing out our cradle arms. more

Now we can go ahead and pull the pin at the bottom of the mast and tilt down our bike rack.This allows us to easily gain access to our cargo area. Now we'll put the bike rack back in its upright position. more

With the platform folded up we have about 15 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle here at the rear bumper is about one inch. Again, with the platform folded up we've added about 12 inches to the overall length of the vehicle.We'll now pull the bronze lever at the base of the carrier to fold down the platform. With the platform folded down we have about 22 inches of ground clearance at the rear of the carrier. more
