We're adding about 26 inches to the back of our vehicle. Now, if we want to park in close-quarters parking spots, we could come up here and lift up on the grey handle. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2014 Chrysler Town and Country TH9029XT

Today on our 2014 Chrysler Town and Country, we're going to be taking a look and doing a test fit on the Thule Vertex. This is a folding and tilting four bike rack. They've designed this so we can use it with the inch and a quarter or with the two inch hitch, part number on it is TH9029. Something that is nice about the rack we're going to have a lock designed in with cables right here in the front comes right back here to the back where we're going to be able to secure that using the Thule one key lock system so we can secure just the one lock or if you have numerous Thule products, they can all be keyed the same. When not in use, its got a convenient storage area here, keeps it tucked down in the mast out of the way until we need it. Now as far as bike security, we've got two straps here on the top holding it in place, we've got a third one here on the back that's for our anti sway cradle. That does a good job of keeping the bikes in their position and it will prevent them coming up making contact with the mast or maybe our other bikes. Now to free our bike up, we're just going to remove the three straps, we get that out of the way and you can take a good look at those cradles that we've got in there. more

Hollywood Racks Traveler 5 Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2014 Chrysler Town and Country

Today on our 2014 Chrysler Town and Country, we'll be test fitting the Hollywood Racks Traveler five-bike rack part number HR9200. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the opening of the hitch while treading in our anti-rattle bolt and then tightening it down using a wrench. With the bike rack secured, we'll go over a couple of clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 12 inches of ground clearance at the rear of the bike rack. Closestpart of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about 7 inches away and with the cradle arms pointing down, we've added about 12.5 inches to the overall length of our Town and Country. We now can loosen up the black knobs on both the upper left and right corner of the mast to swing the cradle arms out. more
