Now the biggest difference between this kingpin and the factory one that might be on your 5th wheel is that these are going to have rubber torsion springs built into the head so that when you're going over those bumps or you start to get some chucking when you're going down the road, this is designed to help absorb most of that. You're still gonna have a little bit of it. What I've had experience with I've got one of these on my trailer. I actually have the gooseneck version but what I have seen happen is that the chucking will start and this will eliminate it almost immediately. more

Hey, guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna go over some of the details of the Curt Flex Air King Pin. Now, the biggest difference you're gonna notice right away, compared to a standard king pin, is that this king pin is going to have an air bag in it. Now, this air bag is designed to provide a cushioning action, so that when you're going down the road, if you have a lot of chucking in your camper when you're pulling it, whenever you hit a bump, if it feels really rough when you hit the bump, that's what this air bag is designed to do. You can fine tune it to your trailer, so that it's the most comfortable ride that you can get. Ours is a pretty heavy trailer, it's 16,800 pounds, so we've got our air bag pretty well maxed out here. more

Hey guys, Kevin here with etrailer and today we'll be showing you how to install the MORryde Cushioned Fifth Wheel Pin Box here on our 2018 Highland Ridge, Mesa Ridge Lite, fifth wheel trailer. So if you have a standard pin box and you experience a whole lot of front to back chucking a whole lot of road vibration, let's face it, roads in America aren't paved with gold like they used to be. Kind of like our back parking lot here. It does cause a whole lot of road vibration and shock which ends up pushing it up onto your trailer, hurting the suspension of your trailer, putting strain on the mounting ears of your pin box. And then also it travels forward into your tow vehicle putting more strain on the fifth wheel hitch, wearing it down quicker, and then also wrecking the suspension on your tow vehicle. So to solve that, MORryde came up with the cushioned pin box, which has rubber dampeners in it to kind of eat up some of that road vibration and shock, and all that front to back chucking. more

Hey everybody, how's it going Today, we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Curt Flex Air 5th Wheel Pin Box, here on our 2007 StarCraft Homestead. So, a standard pin box on your trailer, isn't gonna have the pivoting head, it's not gonna have a built-in strut and it's not gonna have an airbag. Now, you're probably thinking, why do we need all this So I wouldn't say it's a requirement, but your standard pin boxes, they're basically gonna be transferring all the road shocks, when we hit a pothole, we're going over some bumps in the road, everything is gonna be transferred directly to the vehicle and you're gonna be feeling all those bumps in the road. It's actually gonna rely on the vehicle suspension and partly the trailer suspension. But when you add a cushioning mechanism between the truck and the trailer here, this thing is gonna absorb all that road shock there, so we're not gonna be transferring it to our vehicle. So overall, it's gonna be making our ride that much more pleasurable, and it's also gonna help maintain our 5th wheel trailer here, because it's not gonna be rattling around as much. more

Now, this is the Curt Flex Air pin box, which is an exact replacement of the Lippert Flex Air pin box, has the internal air bag on it right down in here, has the built in shock to help reduce any chucking and absorb road shock for a nice smoother ride as you tow your trailer. Now, this is a Curt Rota-Flex pin box, it is the newer version of the Lippert Rota-Flex pin box, and it uses this pivoting head right up front here that has a built-in rubber compound, and that's designed to help keep to reduce the chucking and absorb any road shock for a lot smoother ride as you tow your trailer. So you can see, when your kingpin down here is connected to your 5th wheel hitch, has a pivot bolt right here and you can see the direction. Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com, and today, we're taking a look at this Curt Rota-Flex 5th Wheel Pin Box for Lippert 1621. Now, this was formally the Trailair Rota-Flex, but due to Lippert buying out Curt, it now sports the Curt branding. So no changes have been made to this 5th wheel pin box, and it will replace the Lippert 1621 pin boxes. Now this Rota-Flex pin box, as you can see here, has a pivoting head with a built-in rubber compound that works to reduce chucking and absorb road shock, resulting in a smoother ride and less wear and tear on your trailer. Unlike a rigid pin box that has little give at the point where the trailer and the hitch are connected, the Rota-Flex can pivot slightly to compensate for those times that your trailer suddenly pushes or pulls on your tow vehicle. Now, because the pin box head, not the kingpin itself is moving, the chucking that often occurs when the kingpin jerks around inside the hitch is significantly reduce. more
