Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at Etrailer and today we're taking a look at the B&W Patriot sliding fifth wheel in a 2020 Chevy Silverado 3500. Something that I recommend to every person that is towing a fifth wheel with a short bed or not a long bed truck is going to be a sliding fifth wheel. There's other ways around, you know, preventing cab corners from getting crushed, you can get a movable pin box and that's gonna help a little bit, but this is a great way, if you're having to navigate in some really tight turns, to have that ability to be able to slide this back, give you that clearance to make that turn, and then you can hit the road after that. Otherwise, you are gonna be stuck with just kind of smaller angles than normal, otherwise you run the risk of damaging your truck. So this is a nice easy way to make that short bed still be able to tow a fifth wheel with no problem. Operate the slide function super easy on here. more

Hi, Matt with etrailer, and today we're talking about our B&W Patriot Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch on the back of our 2022 GMC Sierra 2500. Now this will be a great option for you if you are trying to haul and anything behind you and you have a short bed, because what that sliding 5th wheel is gonna do for you is when you are making those sharper turns, whether in a really tight neighborhood or when you are backing up into a campsite, this is gonna help keep that load behind you from making contact with your cab. So the scenario to think about is maybe you've reached your campsite and you need to back your camper up into the spot you found, and it's a little bit tight and you're at more of a jackknife position, so we're gonna probably have to push this slider back some so we can make that turn. So what we're gonna do is just reach over here and just throw this handle. Now if you are having issues reaching this, which is not too bad to reach, I find it pretty fine. But if you do find issues, what I recommend is just using your tire, step it up, and flipping that real quick. more

This system is designed to drop right down into your factory Ford puck system. We're gonna have two different weight capacities available for this hitch, that is a 20,000 pound, which is one we have in front of us here, and a 25,000 pound rating. Trying to pick out the correct hitch for you between the 20,000 pound and the 25,000 pound hitch, you want to go with the hitch that's closest to the weight rating of your camper without going over. So if you have an 18,000 pound camper, I would not go with the 25,000 pound hitch, I would go with the 20,000. more

Hello, neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at the B&W Companion Sliding Fifth Wheel for OEM-prepped Ford trucks. Now, today we have it in a 2024 Ford F-250. Now if you have the factory prep, or puck system as they call it, on your Ford, this is gonna be a great option, especially with those short beds because of the sliding function. And if you've towed fifth wheels before, you know that when you start to make tight turns with those short bed trucks, you can run the risk of damaging the cab corners with that fifth wheel hitting the truck. Well, the great thing about having a sliding fifth wheel means you can still keep your short bed truck and not have to worry about hitting those cab corners because when you make those tight turns, you can slide the head back, giving you more clearance. (metal thudding) Now in that sliding back position, you gain 12 inches of travel, and that's gonna make the world a difference when you get yourself into a tight situation where you just can't turn anymore but you really can't get out of there, sliding this is gonna allow you to get that clearance, make that tight turn, and get out of that situation. more

Today we have a 2024 GMC Sierra 2500, and we're gonna be taking a look at, and I'm gonna show you some of the cool features on the B&W Companion Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch for our OEM GM puck system. This sliding 5th wheel hitch is designed for trucks with a 6-3/4' foot bed. And the reason for that is that when you're going to make tighter turns with campers, when you have a 5th wheel camper, the nose is gonna be somewhere in this general vicinity. And if you don't have that longer bed with the extra, you know, foot and a half space up at the front, you're gonna have issues with the front of the nose of the camper making contact with your truck. That is where this sliding feature on this hitch comes into play. more

So it's pretty cool that Ford and other manufacturers at that started equipping some of their vehicles with the prep packages right from the factory. It makes it super convenient to use a fifth wheel-type hitch like the B&W or even a gooseneck for that matter, considering everything's kind of ready to rock and roll. So I think it's really cool that not only Ford, but some of the other manufacturers of these late mile trucks are starting to put the prep package in right from the factory. And so if you have that, it's gonna make setting up a fifth wheel, or even a gooseneck hitch for that matter, extremely easy since essentially, these just drop right into place. So right off the bat, this is gonna be a fixed-style hitch, meaning you're not able to slide it back. And so ideally, you're gonna want to use this style in a truck that has a long bed, and that's because with that longer box, you're gonna have more clearance referring to the cab. more

Today we're gonna be taking a look at the current line of Q Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches with slider for the Ford Towing Prep Package. More and more nowadays, we're seeing trucks that have shorter than eight foot beds on them, which comes in a problem when we go to tow in the fifth wheel, 'cause we want our hitch to be on the forward side of our rear axle. But that ends up putting our trailer extremely close to our cab. That's where our slider's gonna help out. Today on our 2018 Ford F three 50 Super Duty, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt Q series line of fifth wheel trailer hitches with slider for the Ford Towing Prep package. How's it going, Ryan here at etrailer.com. Today on our 2019 Ford F350 Super Duty, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt Q20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with slider assembly, and this is gonna work with that Ford factory prep package. A lot of newer trucks nowadays are coming with shorter and shorter bed lengths and that can cause some issues with your stationary style 5th wheels and that's due to clearance. So with that shorter bed, the front of your 5th wheel trailer is gonna be closer to the cab of the truck. So in particular, for example, whenever you go to turn, since we're a little bit closer, you can have some issues with your trailer actually contacting the bed of your truck or the cab and damage it. So to alleviate that problem, we're actually going to be able to slide the 5th wheel closer to the back of the truck and provide us with that clearance we need. more

This is a brick wheel hitch that will mount in your short bed, GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and 3500. So you can tow your fifth wheel trailer. This does have the manual slide on it, so it is going to make sure that your short bed truck can pull your fifth wheel trailer and still make those tight turns when you need to, by moving your hitch back up to 14 inches. So basically when you find yourself in a situation where you need to make one of those slow, tight turns, you'll get out, you'll move the slide into the slide position here and that will allow you to very easily slide that back up to 14 inches so that you have that greater clearance. more

So this is a 5th wheel hitch that's gonna mount in your short bed F-250 or F-350 so you can tow your 5th wheel trailer. This hitch is going to have the manual slide feature and so especially for your short bed trucks where you have a little bit of clearance issues and when you're trying to make those tight turns, and this is going to allow you to get out of your truck, (lever clicks) move that lever into the slide position, and then the hitch can slide towards your tailgate up to 14 inches to provide that clearance that you need for your short bed pickup truck to make those slow speed turns safely. Then when you're straightened out, get everything lined up again and simply move that back (lever clicks) to the locked position there over top of your axle, so it's gonna have the weight distributed correctly for your regular speeds. So this is going to help prevent your trailer from making contact with your pickup during your sharp slow speed turns. more

So if your RAM has the factory prep package for towing, then this is the kit for you. It's gonna utilize the A20 5th wheel hitch, the R20 slider base, and that adapter piece down at the bottom to attach that whole slider hitch system to those factory pucks. So if you don't have that factory prep package this isn't the kit for you. You can get that with just the slider base in the 5th wheel hitch and forget about that adapter piece. more

Now, today we have our fifth wheel in a 6 1/2' bed and that's why this is a great option. B&W makes some awesome fifth wheel hitches. They're some of my personal favorites. The quality's fantastic, but this one in particular, if your weight capacity is right at 18,000 or less, is gonna be a great option because, when you need to maneuver, you need a little bit more clearance so you don't hit your cab corners, you can just simply pull the latch, slide this back, it'll lock into place and now you can maneuver without having to worry about damaging your cab. We have our Patriot mounted into Demco's Premier Series rail kit. more

B and W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider Review - 2020 Ram 2500- Video
Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today, we're taking a look at the B and W companion fifth wheel with slider, for OEM Prep package on a 2020 RAM 2,500. Now, as time has progressed, trucks have now started coming with an OEM prep package. And what that means, you might have heard of it as the puck system. That means you have drop-in spots where arms can attach for a fifth wheel and that makes it nice and easy. You don't have to install anything, because from the factory it's ready to be able to drop a fifth wheel in place. Now for something like this with a six foot bed, you are gonna wanna look at something with a sliding base and that's where the companion, I think is one of the best that you can get on the market. more

Curt A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with S25 Slider Review - 2020 Ram 2500- Video
Hello, neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer, and today, we're taking a look at the Curt A25 fifth wheel hitch on an S25 slider with the OEM prep package. So, we have a standard rail system that works with that on a 2020 Ram 2500. Now, this system is gonna be a great configuration for those of you with a six foot bed and the OEM puck package on your Ram, and reason being is that's gonna allow you to slide as you need to make sharper turns and it's gonna just to head back, and that way you can avoid hitting your cab corners when you have to make those sharp turns. Now, this system, having the OEM puck systems, means that the rail, means that it's gonna bolt up to it and you're gonna get everything be able to drop in an ISR standard configuration, meaning that you can really drop pretty much any fifth wheel in and they do have ones that are already set up for the OEM prep package that drop in. The downside with that is unless you're planning on keeping your truck forever, that fifth wheel is gonna have to stay with that whereas with this system, you can swap out to a different fifth wheel or if you get a different truck, you can take this, get different rails, if it's a Ford or a Chevy, and be able to adapt it and still be able to use your fifth wheel. more

Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Review - 2017 Ford F-150- Video
Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at the Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Hitch on a 2017 Ford F-150. And when getting a 5th wheel hitch on a truck, you do wanna take into account the bed length. And this one being a relatively short bed at 5-1/2' means that you're gonna need something that's going to be able to slide back to make those turns. That way you're not making damage on your cab corners. And this one's a little bit different than some of the others on the market and probably the best fit for this because this auto slides. So as your pin box goes into these channels, when you turn, it'll actually rotate and automatically slide this back, giving you that clearance when you make your turns without having to go out and pull a lever and allow it to slide, it's gonna do it itself. more

Curt A20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with S20 Slider Review - 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 2500- Video
Hey guys, this is Jake here with etrailer. Today we have a 2023 Chevy Silverado 2,500 and we're gonna be taking a look at, I'm gonna go over a few details of the Curt S20 sliding base combined with the Curt A20 fifth wheel hitch. Now when we go over all these features of this combo there is also a Curt A16 head that is available that fits just like it does in here. Everything on the head itself is going to be the same except the weight capacity is gonna be a little bit lighter. This head is gonna have a 20,000 pound capacity and the A16 is going to have a 16,000 pound capacity. And one of the biggest downfalls of hauling a fifth wheel trailer in a regular bed truck, this is a six foot eight bed truck and one of the downfalls is that you don't have enough room to turn because the nose of your camper will make contact with the cab of your truck. more

Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we have a 2023 Chevy Silverado 2,500 and we're gonna be taking a look at, and I'm gonna show you some of the features of this BMW Patriot fifth wheel sliding hitch. Now right off the bat, what's gonna make this hitch fit perfectly in this truck is the fact that our truck is a six and three quarter foot bed. So, if you have a standard fifth wheel, those are typically gonna be best used in an eight foot bed, cuz you'll have more than enough cab clearance. That foot and a quarter extra that you get from an eight foot bed really helps to get you some cab clearance. Well, essentially that's what we're doing with this sliding hitch. more

Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on 2023 GMC Sierra 2,500, we're going to be checking out the B&W Companion Sliding Fifth Wheel Hitch. So right away the Companion, this is going to be designed to work with the B&W Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitches. And there's a couple of reasons that I can think of why you'd want to use the Companion over the standard type fifth wheel head that uses the traditional type rails. And one of them is that you have a couple of different types of trailers. So if you have a gooseneck and a fifth wheel, having the gooseneck hitch allow you to pull that trailer and then by picking up the Companion, it'll let you drop this fifth wheel right into that gooseneck hitch and hook up to your fifth wheel trailer. more

Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we've got a 2018 Ford F-150 with the five-and-a-half-foot bed, and we're gonna be showing you the Demco Autoslide 13,000 pound 5th Wheel Hitch. This is gonna be one of the best options for a 5th wheel hitch that you can pair with a short-bed truck that is a five and a half or a six-foot bed truck. The way that this hitch works is that you're going to lock your kingpin into the head, and then the kingpin will no longer rotate inside here. It's going to take this, these sides and rotate this whole head, and the 5th wheel will back itself up as you're turning. So if you go to back into a campsite and you're turning, this is going to turn, and as it turns, it'll go back, and it'll give you 22 and a half inches of travel. more

Hey guys, this is Jake here with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at this CURT 5th Wheel Kit. It's gonna have the E16 5th wheel head paired with the S20 base. With this kit, you are gonna get a 16,000-pound head and a 20,000-pound base. But when paired together, you will have to go with the lowest denominator, which is going to be your 16,000-pound head. It's gonna be a nice sturdy steel construction and a black powder coat finish to resist rust and corrosion. more
