Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2008 Toyota Highlander

Today on our 2008 Toyota Highlander we're going to be taking a look at the Curt T-connector vehicle wiring harness for factory tow package, part number 56042. So here's what our wiring's going to look like when it's fully installed. It's going to give a four pole flat and the ability to plug in our trailer and have lights from our vehicle running on our trailer. And when we're not using it, it's going to stay inside the vehicle, right underneath our panel here, tucked away nicely. It will be ready whenever we need it. I do want to mention that this particular kit is for a vehicle with a factory tow prep package. Curt does make a wiring harness that has everything you need if your vehicle does not have the prep package, and you can use part number C56217. Now that we've gone over some of the features, let's show you how easy it is to install. more

Best 2008 Toyota Highlander Trailer Wiring Options

Today we're going to be taking a look at the best wiring options for your 2008 Toyota Highlander. First we got our Curt custom vehicle wiring harness, part number C56217. Then we've got our Tekonshe T1 vehicle wiring harness, part number 118449. Lastly, we got our Curt custom vehicle wiring harness, part number 56042. The first obvious difference that we're going to see here is that with this wiring harness over here, this Curt does not have as much as the others. That's because if you have a Highlander that already has the tow package with the converter mounted underneath the dash, this is all that you're going to need. If you don't, then one of these other two kits will be the right fit for you. The first difference that we're going to look at between the Curt and the Tekonshe wiring harnesses is the amperage rating on each circuit. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2008 Toyota Highlander 118449

Today on this 2008 Toyota Highlander we will be installing the wiring harness part number 118449. The first thing I want to point out with this wiring harness before we get started is that it does come in two pieces. The larger piece with the larger 10 pin port is going to plug in underneath the dash on the interior of the vehicle. The second part which contains our 4-pole end is going to plug in at the rear back in our cargo area. We are going to start off by plugging the larger section in underneath the dash first. The port underneath the dash is located just left of the brake pedal attached to the main wiring harness lead right there. Now that we have the port located we can plug our harness in line and then we want to take the modulite box and we need to adhere it to a surface underneath the dash. We have got double sided tape on the back side so we can just peel that away and just find a place to adhere it. 00:54 more
