Best 2013 Nissan Xterra Trailer Wiring Options

Today we're going to be taking a look at the best custom fit vehicle wiring harnesses available for the 2013 Nissan Xterra. Now the number one thing you'll need to decide in your wiring harness is going to be whether you want a four pole flat style which will give us turn, brake and running lights signal or whether you need something like a seven way, or a seven pole plug. Now the seven pole plug is going to have all those. It's going to have our turn, stop signals. It's going to have our running lights, but it's also going to include a reverse signal for a marine style trailer application, a brake controller lead if you do install a brake controller in the Xterra to bring that power rearward and also a 12 volt power wire which will give us 12 volt power at our plug for a jack or maybe a triple charge for a battery or something like that. Now that is our four flat option from Tekonsha. This part number is 118525. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2013 Nissan Xterra

Today on our 2013 Nissan Xterra, we'll be installing the tow ready T1 Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4 pole flat connector. Part number 1182525. To begin our install, we're going to start by installing the threshold and kick panel on the passenger side front row. To remove the threshold, first you use a flat base screwdriver or an interior trim panel tool to get underneath the threshold and release the fasteners underneath. Then we'll go ahead and work the threshold out of the way and set it aside for installation. Next we'll go ahead and repeat the same process with the kick panel. The kick panel has a plastic screw cap and then 2 attachment points underneath. We'll release these attachment points and then remove the plastic screw cap and then remove the kick panel. Now we've accessed the manufacturer's wiring, underneath the kick panel we'll located the white 12 point connector. As you can see here, it's secured to the manufacturer's wiring but we've got just enough room when . take the new jumper harness 12 point connector plugged directly into the manufacturer's 12 point connector. Next we'll go ahead and route the jumper harness. Now we can install out relays. Starting with brown connector and the brown relay, we'll go ahead and match up the pins install and secure it. more
