Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer today on our 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we're gonna be showing you how to install the curt four way flat vehicle wiring harness. But before we do that, why don't we check this out and make sure it's something that's gonna work for you So people use these Jeeps, do a lot of different things, which does include pulling some trailers around. And whenever you're pulling a trailer, you want the lights to work on it. That way people around, what's going on and you'll be safe and legal. Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee- Video
Today in our 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Teconsha T1 vehicle wiring harness with four pole flat trailer connector.So here's what our wiring looks like once we have it installed. It's going to give us a four pole flat trailer connector and give us all the required lights to get down the road safely, like our tail lights, turn signals and our stoplights. Keep in mind the bracket we have our wiring mounted to is sold separately and does not come with the kit. What's really nice about our wiring is the fact that we're not going to have to cut or splice into our factory Jeep wiring. It's going to be a T connectors located behind the tail light on each side and then we'll run a power wire up to the battery. Our wiring is going to come with a converter box that's going to take the signal from our Jeep and turn it into a working signal for our trailer lights to work.But it's also going to protect our Jeep's wiring and electrical system cause it's going to prevent any kind of backfeeding if there we're any problems on our trailer. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we're going to be installing Hopkins 7-way and 4-way trailer connectors, part number 30955. This 7-pole connector's going to plug directly into your factory wiring harness, providing you with all the necessary trailer signals from both a 4-pole flat connector and a 7-pole connector. Both connectors are going to provide you with the necessary lighting signals, such as your left turn, right turn, brake lamp and stop lamp signals. Your 7-pole's going to have some additional wiring in it for a brake controller signal, auxiliary power and backup lamps. The 7-pole connector has a spring-loaded door with a seal located on the inside to keep out moisture and corrosion.The 4-pole connector has a dust cap that can be removed and reinstalled to help keep out dirt, debris and moisture. This is ideal if you have multiple different trailers. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we'll be having a look at our best trailer wiring options.Okay. We have three options here today for the Jeep Grand Cherokee that is equipped with the factory tow package. If you don't have the factory tow package, we have several other options available on our website for you. Over here to the right, we have the Hopkins 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket with Mounting Bracket. It's part number HM40975. In the middle, we have a Tekonsha Multi-Tow 7-Way and 4-Pole Trailer Connector, part number 20119, and finally, off to the left, we have the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way and 4-Pole Connectors, part number C55774.Now, the biggest difference that we found between our three wiring harnesses that we have here today is the overall appearance that they have once they're on the vehicle. more

Speaker 1: Today on this 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee we'll be having a look at and showing how to install the Hopkins seven and four-pole trailer connector socket with mounting bracket, part number HM40975. Here's what our connector looks like installed. On the right side of it behind this dust cover we have our four-pole connector. This is going to give you the basic lighting functions that are required by law in order for you to tow a trailer safely and legally. You'll have your taillights, your running lights, your turn signals, and your brake lights.On the left side of it we have our seven-way connector. This gives you your lighting functions, as well as a reverse light output, which is useful for our trailers that have reverse lights, or if you're towing a boat trailer, it has an electric lockout for the brakes so when you go to back up the trailer you don't have to worry about the brakes being applied. more

Speaker 1: Today, on this 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Tekonsha 00:00:06 T1 Vehicle Wiring Harness with a Four-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, part number 118384.Here's what our wiring harness looks like installed. We have nice dust cover that'll help protect it from the elements when it's not in use. And that covers up our four pole connector, which gives us the basic lighting functions, which are required by law in order for us to safely and legally tow a trailer.We'll have our tail light and running light circuit, our left turn signal and brake light, and our right turn signal and brake light. And on each one of these circuits, we have a maximum power output of seven and a half amps, which is more than sufficient to tow a trailer with several incandescent light bulbs, or basically as many LED lights as we want, because LED lights do draw less power.What's great about this wiring harness is that it gets the job done for your basic towing needs, so you'll be safe and legal. It's a simple plug and play operation with no cutting or splicing required. Speaker 1: Today, in this 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness for factory tow package vehicles with a seven blade four pole flat connector, part number C55774.Here's what a wiring looks like installed. As you'll notice, we have a seven-way connector here, and this will give us all the functions that we need in order to tow a trailer. We'll have turn signals, brake lights, running lights, a 12-volt charge line, reverse light output, which is useful if you're towing a boat trailer with a reverse lockout cylinoid. And we even have the ability to control electric trailer brakes, provided we have a brake controller installed on our vehicle.We also have four pole flat connector here, so if you're just towing a small trailer, which you only need to have lights, it'll get your tail lights, your brake lights, and your turn signals off of this connector.Now, what's great about this wiring harness compared to others on the market is, not only do we have the seven-way, but we have the four-way as well. So, we don't need to worry about running an adaptor in our seven-way just to tow a standard trailer with a four pole flat connector.
