Best 2006 Honda Odyssey Trailer Wiring Options- Video
Today on our 2006 Honda Odyssey we'll be looking at our trailer wiring options. We have two wiring harnesses here today. Right here we have the Tekonsha T1 vehicle wiring harness, part number 118438. Right here we have the CURT t-connector vehicle wiring harness, part number C56161. Both of our wiring harnesses that we have here today feature the standard four-pole flat trailer connector. This will give you the required connection that all trailers have to give you the required running lights by law so you can safely tow a trailer. Our difference that we have between these two here today is our Tekonsha one has a dust cover built in. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2006 Honda Odyssey- Video
On this 2006 Honda Odyssey, we're going to review and install the current T-connector vehicle wiring harness with a 4-pole flat trailer connector, part number C56161. With this part number, this is what you receive. This is of course our main wire harness right here, this whole assembly. Starting from this end, this will plug into the pre-existing port on our van. This ring terminal is for ground to go to sheet metal or possible existing ground wire. This fuse holder with the fuse, which goes to our module. Now, how our module works is pretty simple. Basically, it takes the input from the van on this side, and this takes battery power from this white red wire here that goes through the fuse panel. This gets 12-volt power from the battery through fuse holder right here. What the box does is takes the signal that comes in, copies that signal, and then sends it out to the wire harness and to the 4-pole connector that goes out to your trailer. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2006 Honda Odyssey 118438- Video
Step one would be to get to the wiring itself, thats going to require removing a couple of panels and loosening a couple. First thing to do is take out the trunk tray, the threshold and loosen the two side panels. Taking off that panel will allow us to get this panel loose here to get to the junction box inside. Wiring harness installation: Now that we have our panel is loosened you can see the junction box. It will use this port here and simply plug in. Once youve plugged it in, go ahead and ground it. Theres a handy ground screw right here well just use that. Last step is to mount the box here and well just stick it behind this harness here, it has self adhesive. more
