Curt 5th Wheel Wiring Harness Installation - 2012 GMC Sierra

Hi there GMC owners. Today, on your 2012 GMC Sierra 2500, we're gonna be taking a look and showing you how to install Curt's in-bed seven-way wiring kit. And this is what our connector looks like when it's installed. You do have the option to put it wherever you want here in the back of your truck as long as you've got the room to install it there. Typically, this location here at the back by the tailgate, there's usually plenty of room here. And this is usually a great spot that gives you plenty of length to be able to hook up your trailer to cause your trailer's gonna be coming on from the back there. more

Today on this 2012 GMC Sierra, we're going to install part number PK11916. First thing we need to do is go ahead and remove the cap that is on bumper of our truck. We'll push down a small tab and rotate it and it will come through. Then the back side of the cap is a factory towing package and its wire harness. We're going to pull them out a little bit and we'll release the cap from the harness. There's a small white lock that we have to remove then we'll push down at the center of the latch so we can pull the cap off the wire harness. more

Today on our 2012 GMC Sierra Denali, were going to install the Bargman seven pole harness, part number 50-97-410. The first step of our installation is to locate a suitable spot for our seven pole connector. Here in the bed of the truck, is an excellent location, as behind it we have enough clearance before we meet the outside of the fender. Next well need to drill a two inch hole to feed our wire through. Now with our hole made, we can go ahead and take the new seven pole harness and carefully feed it through the hole. You want to be very careful because the edges that we just created by drilling the hole will be very sharp. Now weve got our seven pole into position, we can go ahead and use the cell tapping screws provided with our install kit to secure it.Now underneath the vehicle well go ahead and start routing our wire over to the back of the bumper. more
